This happened to us once when I was a kid at home, but it was in the fall. Look at all the leaves on the trees!! We went 3 weeks with no electric. You couldnt even drive on the roads due to trees, limbs all over. Our driveway was 3/4 of a mile long and it took 2 days to clear it of trees.
You know, that happened to us once too - I think it was 1989 b/c I was living in an apartment at college. The fall leaves were beautiful & we woke up in the morning covered in white & the limbs were dragging down, loaded with snow! We did lose electric but I don't think it was for very long.

Today is supposedly the "frost free" day for our area. We're not SUPPOSED to have frost now until fall! Time to get in the garden!! Have a great day Meceka!

Thank you, Holiday. Have fun in the garden!

Can someone turn the big yellow thing in the sky down a little bit? I'm not ready for these temperatures yet.

I hope everyone is having a great day!!

I'm not either! It isn't even humid out and I've been miserable ~ doesn't bode well for the really hot days ahead. Thankfully it has cooled down quite a bit. Going down to 48 tonight. If Palmer didn't spend most of her night watching her favorite show, "Backyard at Night", I'd leave my window open. Seriously!
Hope it cools off for your area and quick!

Hello Christmas friends...sorry i havnt been around much to chat with u wonderful christmas buddies...My father is sick and i am spending as much time with him at the moment...

Oh, Prancer, I'm so sorry your father is sick. Sending prayers and hugs out for you both. Please keep us posted! {{{HUGS}}}

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not been around recently. Just been busy.

However, I am on here today with some very sad news. As most of you know I am a high school teacher at a rural school. We are near the end of the year, as a matter of fact, tomorrow is the Senior's last day. Today, right after the seniors were out, one of my students was in a single car accident and died. I have been his Social Studies teacher for the last three years and he was on my Quiz Team. As a matter of fact he was the high scorer for the league! It is so sad! He was about to graduate, tomorrow would have been his last day of high school. My Ancient Greece class will be one student less tomorrow.
I am sorry to bring such sad news here, but I know how supportive everyone is here and the compassion of this community. Please keep his family in your thoughts.

Oh, Itp, how heartbreaking for your community. Sending out prayers for all of you. {{{HUGS}}}

Merry Morning,
Hope everyone is doing well.
I can't believe how far into the year we are. The milestones keep whooshing past. I celebrated a birthday a couple of weeks ago now father's day is a month away.

I don't know if I mentioned but we accepted an offer on our house late Feb and was able to offer on a house we liked in a great neighbourhood. So the last couple of months I have been busy with the sale and purchase. Hopefully we should complete in June. Can't wait to move and start redecorating :)

I miss you all and hope everyone is well and coping with life's ups and downs.

Great to see you Festive! You have been in my thoughts of late, so it is nice to see you on here today!! Congratulations to you and your family on your upcoming new home!! How exciting!!

Good evening everyone.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Today was a VERY rough day at school. The kiddos handled it the best they could. The Seniors were the most affected and they had a rough morning. But they did what they could and made some great posters and chalk drawings outside.
As a testament to what wonderful kiddos they are... During my fourth period class (US History with sophomores) I noticed a couple of seniors standing at my door. Luckily, I have another teacher in the room during that class, we co-teach one class. Anyway, I walked out to see what those students needed. I was met by a group of about eight seniors. I asked what I could do for them, and they responded, "nothing, we came to see how you are doing." These kiddos knew that I thought a lot of the student who had passed and he really enjoyed my class. He was a special student to me. In their sad moment, they thought about how I might be feeling. What amazing kiddos!!! They are a great bunch. I am getting watery eyed as I think and write about it.
Well, as I told my classes today, no matter how hard it is, the world does not stop moving when something like this happens. And therefore, we must press on and do what needs to be done. So, in the middle of all of this, I still taught today and students still learned today. Tomorrow is a new day and it will be easier than today.

Again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! It really means a lot.

Aw, what wonderful kids, Itp!

Good Thursday morning! One last day of work and then I'm off until the 28th. Because of my issues with my tendon, we did not plan anything grand for our vacation and we'll just do whatever we fancy on any given day. A long work day ahead as I have tons to do and I'm giving health and safety training to new hires tonight. A third amazing Summer-like day today. We had to bring out the electrical fan last night to get more comfortable. It's too early for our portable air conditioner. Hope everyone will enjoy a fabulous day!

Praying the issues with your tendon will be resolved for the better soon! Your vacation sounds perfect ~ enjoy!!

Good morning MMC!!!
I hope everyone had a great 'Pines' evening, and I heard Carl did take his yearly bath last night. By my count we are now into the 3 week window of our next milestone..200 days to Christmas!!
Days to the season: 179
Days to Christmas: 221

It was extremely warm here yesterday, we had a high of 88°
and high humidity. It looks like today is worse but then we score more seasonable weather until at least Memorial Day.
Everyone have a great Thursday

Thank you for counting down, Gunny!

Good Morning MMC !!

oh how I have missed you all ! hoping my computer problems are now in the past.
Going to be another hot one here today. No chance to get used to it as we went from 12c to 29c in only a day. Had my eldest over to help put in the Ac so we could stay comfortable. Nice breeze this morning, and looks like we had rain overnight.
The blossoms are out

Hope you are all well, will try and catch up later.

Have a fantastic day everyone !!

Nice to see you, CS! Hope all is going well with you and your family!

Good evening everyone.

Today was a better day at school. Things are more "normal." Tomorrow will be more emotional, we have our Awards day and a senior video. The video is always wonderful and showcases the seniors from when they were little up to the present. Of course this will be a hard one to watch and I am sure staff and students will be a mess as the video plays. However, I think it will help everyone take another step in the healing process.

Next week is the last week of school. Monday and Tuesday will be easy days of just reviewing for exams. Wednesday through Friday will be exams and we are done for the summer. Of course, as a teacher, I will not be really done. I will still have my Master's classes to work through. Plus, I am starting 2 new courses at the high school next year so I will be doing a lot of lesson planning for those. But, I like planning and putting materials together so I would not really call it work.

In other news, we still have not finished our garden area. We put the ground covering down and the raised beds in place, but we still need to have mulch delivered and put down. I would like to say we will do that this weekend, but I doubt that will happen.

I want to thank you all for listening to me go on about the situation at my school. I really appreciate all of the kind words and thoughts. It really means a lot!

So-oo hot today, about 96F---it's still 84F outside at 10 p.m. It's supposed to cool down to the mid-80s tomorrow, and down to 69F for a high on Saturday. "Spring" in New England! I hope it's not too hard to sleep tonight.

I wound up sleeping downstairs because it was so hot in my bedroom (I NEVER do that) because our a.c. isn't up yet. But it was just ridiculously hot and luckily sleeping downstairs with the windows open and the box fan right on me I actually felt pretty comfortable. And I'm looking forward to this big cool down coming today/tonight.

Morning MMC! TGIF! Can't believe we are heading into the final weekend before MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND and the unofficial start of summer. As I mentioned to Merry it was so hot last night I slept downstairs which I never do. The temp DOWNSTAIRS said 85 so imagine what it was upstairs where it's usually 5 degrees warmer at least in this type of heat. But with a good old fashioned (and strong might I add) box fan I slept fine and Rollins was thankful because imagine how hot our dogs feel in this heat with their hair. Looking forward to the big cool down coming today/tonight and then a much cooler weekend (just closer to normal for mid-May). Next weekend the a.c. goes up no matter how hot or not hot it is. Just a bunch of errands to do this weekend but nothing crazy. Have a great day everyone and TGIF to you all!

I had no idea you guys had heat like ours in May! Wow!

TGIF, Christmas friends!

I'd been trying to delay buying tires for my truck, even though they are pretty worn. I live just a couple miles from work, and we take Nancy's car when we travel as a family, so I thought I could push it out a little farther. Alas, it's not to be. I'm trying the find the best deal now, but trucks have pretty big (read: expensive) tires, doggone it.

Lunch today with mama.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Morning MMC Countdown fans!!!
Its Friday!!! Getting ready for the weekend here and decided to Bbq a rack of ribs this weekend. Today finds us 1 day closer to all the things that will lead us to Christmas. Its important to not skip over all the stuff that happens in between though. Lets get to our numbers and see how we are doing!
Days to the Season: 178
Days to Christmas: 220
In under 3 short weeks we will find ourselves at the halfway point to Christmas!
Everybody enjoy your weekend!! Get out there and BBQ something!

Try Tirerack.com I get my truck tires from them with free UPS delivery. I save over half the cost of anywhere in town and the endless "taxes" this miserable state places on everything. I have 36's on my Silverado, but even the stock sizes would still be 1/2 the price.

Good morning MMC!! Happy, HAPPY Friday!! It's a beautiful morning. Much cooler, but very comfortable outside! Not much sunshine, but it's not dreary either. I'll take it! :)

It's been such a busy week, I'm looking forward to the weekend! Though it's going to be a busy weekend too! I am staying with Mom this weekend, but we have 3 graduation parties - one tonight, 1 tomorrow & 1 Sunday! My sister is going to relieve me tonight so I can go to our nieces (other side of the family) graduation for awhile, tomorrow... we may miss that graduation. A lady from town here will be staying with mom tomorrow - she normally takes a 24 hour shift for us over the weekends. It's my friend from high school's son. He doesn't know us & a friend of ours is playing/singing out at the lake. I'm looking forward to hanging out at the lake & listening to some good music! We'll send a card with some $$$ to the graduate! :) Sunday is another friends daughters graduations party - my SIL is going to relieve me so I can go there for awhile too. One of these weekends we will have NO PLANS!! xx

For everyone talking about the heat...here is a pic of my cousins deck from last night ~ she hasn't posted this morning but at the time of this picture they were expecting another foot before today.

I've actually been looking at Tirerack.com, but they want to charge me $70 shipping. How do you get free shipping?!? LOL

Thinking of you today! Such a tough time! :(

Today is our seniors last day of school too. They were all gathering at the Legion this morning ready to begin the "Hillbilly Parade" I know I've talked about it here before but the seniors all parade to school on their lawn mowers, bicycles, 4 wheelers, gators, tractors, boats, mopeds....anything to make some noise. It's too funny!

Sounds like you have made progress on your garden! Good luck getting it finished up!

Have a good day & a nice weekend! *Prayers*
