Christmas Countdown - 2017

Good afternoon .. well the heat and humidity are back I can so do without them. I am longing for those wonderful fall days. We still have a few weeks left before school starts but we have a lot to do in that time frame to get ready for school. Going to help the kids go through their clothes this week and get rid of anything they don't wear or doesn't fit so I can get a better idea of what clothes they will need for school. They will be happy with the new clothes but my bank account wont be LOL. Well have a great day all!

Good morning MMC! Merry Pines Day!

We had another interesting appointment last night with Gracie. He said the diarrhea comes from the medicine. He had her on Yang which was something to support kidneys & the spleen. He thinks her kidneys are functioning well enough now that she does not need all that and it could be causing the diarrhea. So we discontinued that and he put her on another herb that supports only the spleen. He said both her kidneys and spleen feel stronger every time she comes in but the spleen still needs more support.

He said the prescription medicine she was on has her stomach so messed up – he wants me to discontinue one of her prescription meds (amlodapine) from our other vet, which makes me nervous – but I guess we have to trust him. Obviously things weren't working right when she was on them! Both Jim and I feel she would not be with us anymore if we had never gone to see this doctor. He also put her on a new probiotic which has herbs that help promote digestive health.

Something really cool happened when I went to pay…there's an anonymous donor from the Toledo area who every time he comes in donates $1000 to be used towards other people who have been making a lot of visits - they allocate the money to frequent visitors and today we had a $200 credit on our account!! How cool is that!? We will definitely be leaving him a thank you note and paying his kindness forward! WOW!!!! ♥

As of now she still has not eaten her food other than the rice with chicken to get some medicine in her. She had diarrhea twice overnight. He said it could take 24-48 hours for that to be corrected.

One of the vet techs was talking Christmas and she told me there was only 132 days to go! (Believe it or not she brought it up) So we had a conversation about Christmas while Grace had the needles in her. It was fun! We also talked fall & pumpkin spice and autumn smells…

We went to the Legion for a drink for Jims birthday last night. Tonight we'll be going out to eat with friends. 1st I could use a nap!

The heat & humidity found it's way to us today too - but we are supposed to have a cold front coming through tomorrow! This has been the strangest summer. We haven't had many "dog days" - we would have a few in a row, but then they would be followed by cool days! Never a full week of "Oh I can't wait for it to cool off!!!!" It was very strange!
I hope your back to school prep goes well. Kids here go back next week. Boooooo!

Thanks so much SFM!! I got her to eat a little rice w/ chicken at lunch that had her nutrocept in it! Still not eating her food! No diarrhea messes to clean up when I got home, but she went outside & had a couple bouts. Hopefully it's getting less & less until its gone!
Yes, very cool about the donor. Such an unexpected nice surprise! We need to think of a good way to pay it forward!

I have Bellsouth DSL right now, and I pay for the fastest connection they offer in my area, 6 Mbps. Running speedtest.net, I actually only get 5 download / 0.25 upload.

This new cable company is only offering to businesses in our area right now, but they said my part-time sign rental business is good enough for them LOL. They offer 10 down / 1 up as their slowest plan, which is a big jump for me...if it's reliable.

Still mulling.

Might be worth it then. If you bave em install it, make sure you stand there when they test the speed. If its below what they advertise they can add a booster onto your connection by the modem and its usually ups it another 2-3 mbps

Morning MMC! Here we go down the home stretch to the Bers only 15 days away! Had a good evening last night eating out and then going to the park. Today we expect a mixture of sun & clouds with a high in the mid 80s. Typical late summer time weather here. Nothing too extreme at least as has been the theme this summer. We've had a lot of rain but not a lot of heat (just humidity like usual for summer). 1 year ago today I brought Rollins home. Pretty amazing it's been that long yet it seems like I've had him forever. Hope everyone has a good day today as it's Friday Eve!

I was up at the crack of dawn again today. My daughter has another day of training in the city so I had to drop her off at the train station. I'm going to have a bite to eat and then tidy up the house & start laundry. Not too much going on here today I just need run to the mall for a birthday gift, my daughters fiancé turns 25 tomorrow. That's about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

No further rain fell yesterday, but the heat and humidity continue unabated.
Today promises more of the same, and 90's temps with humidity at least in the 60's is predicted right on to Monday of next week.
Currently, we have begun this day at 75 degrees here in central NC.

Happy Friday Eve! (Feels like Friday, and I wish it were ...)

I'm getting a lot of pleasure out of playing Christmas CDs from our collection on the way to work. We have SO many CDs that we bought for a particular song or two, and I've never listened to the whole of most of those CDs. I'm uncovering some hidden treasures, such as Carol Burnett singing "The Christmas Song." I saw a track labeled "He'll Be Comin' Down the Chimney"---I thought it would be the same tune that Gene Autry sings, but it was a wholly different song to the tune of "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain"! I enjoy slipping the CDs in without reading the playlists, so I'll be surprised by what pops up. Many are frequently heard, familiar recordings, but there also plenty of little-known gems in there. It'll be a pleasure to dust some of them off for Kringle Radio!

Good morning MMC! Merry Friday Eve! Anybody remember 14 days ago when I posted our 15 day forecast & the hottest day predicted was 80º - there were only 1 or 2 days we were even supposed to hit 80º up through tomorrow. Well - yesterday was 90+ & HUMID! I believe they missed that one! But that's ok, as summer is winding down I'm really appreciating the sunshine & being able to walk outside w/ no coat & no saying "BRRRRRR"! LOL

Gracie's diarrhea continues! Poor girl! Thankfully all day yesterday there were no messes in the house. Outside was a different story. He said give it 24-48 hours - tonight will be 48 hours, so we'll see! She did eat better yesterday! xx

After work yesterday I went to the DG




There was nothing yet at the grocery store! I bought a pumpkin pie candle (which I have burning now) as well as a Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice candle! LOVE fall candles!!

Christmas Tree Shops are now getting into all things pumpkin---pumpkin-shaped kitchenware (that's where I got my pumpkin-shaped teapot) and pumpkin-spice flavored items. I got a little queasy when I saw the ads for pumpkin-spice peanut butter and pumpkin-spice marshmallows ... I'm not a big fan of pumpkin spice to begin with. But when folks start getting excited about pumpkin spice, you know the holidays are on the way!
