The solar eclipse comes directly over my hometown on Monday & they get over 2 minutes of total darkness. Around 6,000 live there & they are expecting around 20,000 to be there over the three day weekend. We are twenty minutes away, in the same county, and we've been told by local E-911 to treat it like a blizzard. Get your groceries & gas & stay at home! The festivals they are doing are really geared toward out-of-towners. Schools are out on Monday, security is high, and you have to pay $20 to park & be shuttled into town by bus. All hotels within 50 miles are booked. Restaurants are afraid they'll run out of food. There are two interstate exits in the town. They are asking people not to use the interstate if they can avoid it. I don't trust that everyone will keep their eclipse glasses on and they will all be lined up at the optometrist offices on Tuesday morning because they've burned their eyeballs out...; people are still scrambling to get eclipse glasses. We've known about this for months, people!

DH has to work all day Monday. I was just told yesterday that as long as one person mans the office, we can work until lunch & take the rest of the day off. I was already bringing DD to work with me because they say if it usually takes you 10 minutes to get somewhere, plan on it taking an hour on Monday. I work 10 minutes from home. If I left DD at home alone & she needed me, it would take me an hour to get to her! She'll come to work with me, then I think we'll try to get home, if we can. If we can't, I plan to pack lunch for us just in case. I think we'll watch it on tv & save our eyes!

Good morning everyone, Happy Friday!
We're expecting scattered showers today with a high of 80 degrees. I'm heading out soon to make a Target run. I also need to return books at the library and then stop at the butcher. Other than that I will be working on my daily chores. Just a typical day. I've been browsing vintage Christmas ornaments on eBay all morning, I bought a few to add to my collection :)
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

I was wondering what conditions were expected to be like for folks who live on the path of totality! Sounds like a good day to stay home, as the authorities suggested. Sorry that you have to go to the office. I hope the traffic isn't as bad as you suspect.

I'm in Massachusetts, and I'll wager there are people here who don't even know there's a solar eclipse on Monday. We're supposed to get about 63% of totality here, and it looks like it'll be business as usual. Maybe I'll get a glimpse of it from the office if I run outside for a few minutes.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Closing in fast now on Milestone marker number 14.
We will look at the situation following the presentation of today's count numbers.

Days to the Season: 87
Days to Christmas Day: 129

OK. Our Milestone update.
On August 25, SEVEN days from today, we will enter the FINAL THIRD of our trip back to Christmas.
(That's exactly ONE lone week, Folks. Better be ready to enter the fast track!)

Still the heat.
Still the humidity.
Still the quickie rains that just add to the moisture without really cooling us off.
When will it all end?
Maybe in the Fall.
For now, we continue with the same conditions unabated, and this latest installment has commenced here in central North Carolina at 75 degrees.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
And thoroughly enjoy your Weekend Eve!
Thanks Crown! I'm looking forward to fall weather too!

Etsy and Pintrest have some good deals also on vintage ornaments.

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday!!!! TGIF!!!

Diarrhea continues...I called the vet. We need to double her dose of probiotic. Hopefully this will help. The good news is she's eating good again!! xx I hope that continues!!

We don't have many plans for the weekend other than going to the lake. I'm good with that. I baked Jims favorite cake for his bday last night. We'll share that with the lake neighbors.

Everyone have a Fantastic Friday!!!

Good Friday morning! I'm really looking forward to the weekend, though I will be busy with our Summer work party Saturday night (just a get-together at a casual restaurant) and I'm marching in the Montréal Pride Parade on Sunday with our company. Not that many activities, I know, but for me that's a busy weekend lol I've been up since 5am and it's still night out. I wanted to get up early to get a workout in instead of doing it after work. And Loki snuck in and kept licking my face while I was exercising on the floor, as he does. Hope everyone will have a wonderful day ahead!

Sweet Loki just watned to make sure you know he loves you!! :) ♥ I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Morning MMC and TGIF! Forgot how long a 5 day work week is. But it's been mostly a good week and hopefully will finish up ok today. Not many summer weekends left so going to enjoy the nice weather hopefully as I don't have a lot planned for this weekend. Other than that 14 days till the Bers. Just can't imagine that in 2 weeks it starts all over again. Today's forecast is a high in the low 80s with showers and thunderstorms. Should clear up though just in time for the weekend. Make it a great FRIDAY!
Glad to see you (almost) made it through a WHOLE week of work!! ;) :p Hope you have a great weekend Edge!

DG's are an oddball sort of store. Down south where I lived they seemed to be located 1 store every mile or so..lol
Where we live now there is only the 1 DG in a huge area, they had built a 2nd store but closed it up within a year. They all seem to carry different things than what the next store might carry. And 1 thing they all have in common is that they really dont care how the store looks inside..lol
Lol - yep. We are surrounded by small towns & there are 5 DG's within about 12 miles of us!

Happy Friday!! Looks like it is going to be a dreary day with rain and t-storms. My oldest has a soccer game tonight and my youngest was invited to Six Flags tonight and a sleepover at a friend's house so hopefully the weather cooperates. We'll see...we don't have many plans for the weekend. My husband is working a 1/2 day tomorrow for a co-worker. I think we will probably just grill out tomorrow night and relax. Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend! One step closer to the Bers!
Hope the weather holds out for some fun tonight! Have a great weekend SFM!

WOW! Sounds like it will be crazy in your area!! We're supposed to have an 87.2% eclipse here. Other than the news, nobody is really talking about it! Sorry you have to go out among the crazies! I hope you have a safe & enjoyable weekend!

Ornament shopping ~ what a great way to start the day! :) Have a good day HMG!

I hope you have a beautiful September...but let's not rush time with your mom away! ;) It sounds like you girls are enjoying your time together. I love it! So nice to have her there to help with decorating...and of course, nothing beats moms cooking! :) I hope you both have a great time tomorrow!

Mom is doing ok. She's been having some shaky spells for about a week now. After she wakes up in the morning she is so shaky & doesn't feel good. My sis brought a wedge pillow for her last night thinking maybe she needs to sleep a little more upright - this morning was a good morning, so I don't know if it was the pillow, or just a fluke! Anyway, I'm happy she was having a good morning. Her memory is pretty shaky too! But she just keeps trucking along!
I am sorry your Mom is having these spells. Do you think it could be her blood sugar? I hope she feels better.
Have a great weekend!

I am happy that Gracie is eating better. I hope her belly is better soon.
What kind of cake did you make for Jim?
Have a good weekend!

Thanks SFM! We checked her blood sugar & it was fine. They did a complete blood panel yesterday (a different nurse was finally able to draw her blood) & everything looks normal. She's a mystery!
I made his Grandma's recipe for Spice Cake with Penuche icing. It's a pretty tasty one, I must admit! And neither one of us are a fan of spice cake! ;)

Thanks!
(I feel left out sometimes when abbreviations that I don't understand show up.)
No problem at all! I should have been more specific. I'm so use to calling it the DG! LOL!
