You’re so right HMG, what occurred in Vegas is heartbreaking. Besides the deceased and wounded, how many others lives have been affected by this? I’m beyond sad. Prayers up for all.
I hope all goes well for you at the doctors.
The saddest part to me is that when I hear this news it doesn't even surprise me anymore. I think it's sad we've become almost numb to this type of thing that seemingly happens every time we turn around.

Just waking up to the news about the shooting in Vegas. I am horrified. It's heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers to all who are affected.
I have an appointment today with my naturopathic doctor. I don't think I have any errands to run so I'll just be working on the laundry. I'm going to make a big pot of chicken soup for dinner, I want some comfort food. It's chilly out this morning, we're currently at 48 degrees but it will warm up to 72.
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day.
xx
So many tragedies that have occurred this year. Seems like every week there is something new before you can even get over the previous. Prayers for those affected.

Good Morning everyone. Here we are the first full week of October. As usual, I have been keeping fairly busy and today will be no exception. Time to change out some lights for the "Trick or Treating" season and get some more accomplished in my garage.
One of the elderly women I know from my church ran into me at Wal-Mart while I was working and relayed some sad news, she was found to be with inoperable cancer and the doctor said her chances of making it to the end of the year were not good. She was obviously in some level of pain, but said the medications she was given helped her to keep going. She was not at all bitter, reminding me that we all had to face this time sooner or later in life. We chatted for a few minutes. I think she was more concerned about me being on the clock than I was. It was hard to know exactly what to say when this kind of information comes out of the blue. Of course I told her that I would keep her in my prayers. Hopefully, I will get the time to go and see her before the Lord calls her home.
I trust all of you are in good spirits and that those in your households are doing well. Have a great Monday and a solid 1st week...

For myself, I'm not so sure if it is numbness or a feeling of helplessness. There are times when I feel like the man stranded on the dock and seeing a ship going down with no way to help. I would hate to go back to the days when a policeman could part your skull with no questions asked (like the roaring 20's), but it certainly seems like we have taken the pendulum all the way to the other end of the spectrum. It is a sign of the times that the Bible records would come, but one that I had hoped to avoid seeing.
Prayers for all the families involved, including the family of the man doing the shooting. What a burden that must be for them as well.

Edge I understand what you're saying but we can not become desensitized to this kind of senseless violence. I just can't wrap my head around it. You are both right, it happens too often. Latest update is over 50 dead and 200 plus hurt.

I'm sorry to hear that, she sounds like a lovely woman. Sending up prayers for her.

I appreciate that. For you other post, I can't help but think the world of TV, movies and even gaming has brought some of this on. Not that it in any way excuses it, but when you make the "traditional" bad guys the heroes, it is bound to affect some in the wrong way. I am old enough to remember a time when our heroes in this country were people like Davy Crockett (Disney did a nice job with that), the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Zorro and of course Superman. If we could set the clocks back to that, I could even handle just three channels again... :D

I am with you on that HMG. No matter how often these things happen I just can't brush it off and it still shocks me. It completely devastates me to see this kind of evil and I continue to be confused and saddened. I don't think it will ever become a 'normal' thing for me but I wouldn't want it to be.

I was referring to all the tragedy this year from our attacks here to the hurricane to the earth quake to now this. It just feels like this year every week has been something to challenge the human spirit.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep her in my prayers too

Good Morning, Season Stalkers!

And isn't the hunt fun, especially when we capture Milestone markers along the way!

Well, we have a new set of numbers to concide with the new week.
And here they are:
Days to the Season: 42
Days to Christmas Day: 84

The next Milestone, now only FOUR days away, is the ninety percent Season point and the beginning of the HOME STRETCH run to the Season.
(It's been in incredible run so far, hasn't it?)

Still the beautiful weather, the kind that almost makes you want to just move outside and live there.
A gradual return to warmer weather is supposed to occur during the course of this week, but we won't return to true summer-like conditions.
Our current temperature reading is 53 degrees here in NC, home of the Carolina Panthers (who pulled off a nail-biter victory yesterday)!

Have a Marvelous Monday, Everyone!

I don't mean that I just brush it off but I guess what I mean is that many years ago if I turned the t.v. on and heard this it would shock me so much and now it doesn't...it saddens me beyond belief and as CG said it makes me feel helpless but I do not feel any of us should ever accept this as being normal and just moving on from it.

Thanks Crown! Great upset by the Panthers yesterday!

Good morning MMC! Merry Monday! Looks like another beautiful day! I see in the extended forecast their are a couple nights in the 30's. Not ready, not ready, not ready!

So "nice" to get to work this morning & hear the news about Vegas! UGH! What is wrong with people! SO sad!!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. We did - just went too fast, as always. It was such a nice surprise to see my brother again! My nieces bridal shower was good too. It was fun for a shower! ;) We tried to watch the Buckeyes outside but we gave up. It was SO cold - that wind!! And the game was a blow out. Lucy had a fun weekend with all her lake friends & Jackson. I think my brother filled his phone with Lucy pictures. HA!

Now, back to reality!! Everyone, have a great day!!

I just heard a newscaster say that this is our new normal. It's sad but true.
