Oh no! Hope you feel better as the day goes on!! Merry Shrove Tuesday/Kinkling Day!! (I bet a Kinkling would make you feel better!!)It's Shrove Tuesday everywhere, but in a certain county in Maryland, it's Kinkling Day. Oh, how I'd love to have a bag of them!

I have a lousy cold ... felt it coming on the last two days. Ugh. I'd love to be curled up in bed today getting some extra rest.
Even if it didn't, it would make me smile!Oh no! Hope you feel better as the day goes on!! Merry Shrove Tuesday/Kinkling Day!! (I bet a Kinkling would make you feel better!!)![]()
I am sending strength to your nephew and family for them to get through all of this.Good morning. This is truly a morning where I need coffee running in my veins. I am in such a cloudy haze this morning. I took a Xanax way too late last night to help me sleep and it has not had the proper time to wear off yet.
Oh man, what a night last night. My brother calls me last night night, upset, distraught, sad, angry because his son had a mental breakdown yesterday. I’m still in shock and am upset myself. His son opened up that he was sexually molested 13 years ago. Oh dear Lord, I am praying for him and my brothers family.
My brother lost his job, as a supervisor for Baltimore City mass transit administration and is in the process of getting a medical retirement because of severe back issues; they have no health insurance, no income coming in. His son needs to go to counseling ASAP. I stayed up last night looking online to help, to see if there are any free government assisted counseling out there that could help him.
I was only able to find two, but I was not sure if what I found were the right things or not.
What a thing to hear. I’m sick in my stomach from hearing that last night. Please pray for my nephew and my brothers family to help them to heal.
Thank you!
With all this talk of kinklings, I had to look them up and they sound delicious. Hope you feel better fast Merry. It's Shrove Tuesday everywhere, but in a certain county in Maryland, it's Kinkling Day. Oh, how I'd love to have a bag of them!

You have me looking up recipes for Kinklings. LOLEven if it didn't, it would make me smile!
Here's one ... I think my dad sent it to me once. (Wow, so much flour!)You have me looking up recipes for Kinklings. LOL
Here's one ... I think my dad sent it to me once. (Wow, so much flour!)
KINKLINGS
2 cups water
2 cups milk
3 cakes yeast
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
Dash of salt
Flour (have 5 lb bag on hand)
Dissolve yeast in about a cup of water. Heat balance of water and milk to warm and add yeast mixture. Add shortening, sugar and beaten eggs. Add enough flour (8 or 9 cups) to make soft batter. Let rise about 1/2 to 3/4 hour. Then knead down and add enough flour to make stiff dough. Let rise again to about twice its size.
Roll out and cut into desired shapes. Traditionally, these are rectangles or squares with small slits in the center; you can also make them round like a doughnut. Fry in deep fat until golden brown. Should make about 4 to 5 dozen. Shake in a brown paper bag with powdered sugar.
It's a large recipe because the volunteer fire company ladies' auxiliaries often make big batches to sell. Not sure if you can successfully reduce a recipe for a yeast dough? Mr. wouldn't eat them, so a dozen would be plenty! That is a lot of flour...and yeast. It must make a lot!! (Oh I see now - 4 to 5 dozen!) LOL! I also found a recipe that calls for mashed potatoes.
I am so sorry to hear this....keeping you all in my prayers.Good morning. This is truly a morning where I need coffee running in my veins. I am in such a cloudy haze this morning. I took a Xanax way too late last night to help me sleep and it has not had the proper time to wear off yet.

I was reading online about the big batches being made today! would think you could size it down. Just use 1 pkg of yeast & size everything else down by 1/3. I think the recipes with mashed potatoes developed among the Pennsylvania Dutch. The kinklings I know are soft as pillows and melt in your mouth ... mmm.
That's why I snatched one up. Figured it was meant to be. Ha ha!! They had big bottles, small bottles - and quite a few of them! Delicious!Definitely one of my faves!! I wish my store still had some!
Have a great day, Holiday!
Good info --- thanks!I was reading online about the big batches being made today! would think you could size it down. Just use 1 pkg of yeast & size everything else down by 1/3. I do it with my cinnamon rolls all the time.
And my cinnamon rolls also have mashed potatoes in them. You don't even know they are in there, just makes them stay moist longer. You can let the potatoes out if you're eating all the rolls right away, but if you have leftovers, it makes them stay soft longer.
I don't know what these are ... but I know I want in!It's Shrove Tuesday everywhere, but in a certain county in Maryland, it's Kinkling Day. Oh, how I'd love to have a bag of them!

They're a local variation on fastnachts. They're like a very light, soft doughnut coated in powdered sugar, but they're square and have a slit in the middle instead of a hole. Unless you've been to Frederick County, Maryland, you've almost certainly never heard of them.I don't know what these are ... but I know I want in!
Good evening,
Sorry for being away for so long, probably not the best to post about depression and disappearing for 21 days. I have been working on myself, I have had my meds switched up again, and so far it feels like the right mix. I have been approved for an intermittent leave of absence so I don't have to worry if I need to take an actual mental health day when I need to, the last few months I have gone in on days when I shouldn't have. I finally took down 2 of my three trees today, I couldn't find the strength, or right frame of mind to do it, and it really hasn't been a big deal to keep my trees up until February 12, they were there to help cheer me up.
I am ok, I don't plan on disappearing like that again.
Goodnight, everyone
I hope you feel better Meceka <3
