Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I just recently lost my beloved chocolate lab after having her as a companion for 9 years. (We rescued her when she was 5 years old.) The loss didn’t affect me as hard as it could have because I have two other dogs. It wasn’t easy, but it made it easier since I had other doggies to support me.

Your current dog is beautiful! Glad you were able to open your heart to having another companion come into your life. I guarantee you’ve blessed him!!!

I truly believe dogs help us more than we help them! ♥ You have some lucky dogs!

Good morning, y'all...

Kinda of going through some bittersweet times. We are getting ready to demolish our old high school and my Mom is moving out of the house I grew up in....life is changing...and even as an adult, that can be pretty tough.

We spent last night taking down Mom's Department 56 Dicken's Village and her North Pole Collection. We put them in a box...and she gave them all to me. The hours I spent looking at those over the years around Christmas is amazing. I knew she was going to let me have the North Pole, but not Dicken's Village. My favorite is a piece where Scrooge is standing outside of the place where he danced with his girlfriend...there are moving pieces inside of it. We plugged it up and Bambina just sit and looked....amazed.

More of the same today. Right now, I'm sitting on the deck in 70 degree weather drinking coffee and have my fan on...it sure is pleasant. Y'all have a good day!

(((Hugs))) I'm sure that's not easy. How cool that you got her village & North Pole. Couldn't have gone to a better person...and now your kids can enjoy them too! Bittersweet indeed!

I don't think that I've ever heard or seen a Ben Franklin store before. So, I went online to check them out and I found out that the Ben Franklin Stores and Ace Hardware stores are owned by a company called Housemart (or something like that). Very Interesting.

They have awesome stuff!! I miss the one that used to be in my hometown.
I now have to travel further up north to visit one, but it's in a quaint little town, so I don't mind =] Until then, I live vicariously through Holiday's photos!!

I had to do the same thing, I never heard of a Menards before. So I went online and discovered that, there are no stores in New England or Mid-Atlantic areas. Looks like they are more centrally and Northern located throughout the country.

You would love it, I think! Their headquarters are located here.

Well, the weekend is almost upon us. I'm off for a few days camping, so I won't be online. The relatives had a great time visiting and now are in New York city seeing the big apple. I dropped the dog off to friends to dog-sit. They lost their dog last year, so it's a nice time for them to have a furry friend around the house, but not have the full responsibility of having a dog full time.

When our previous dog passed, it took me about a year or so to get another one. I realize now that I was being a bit selfish. I thought I couldn't bear to lose another creature whom I loved for almost twelve years, but now that this little guy has come into our lives he's taught me patience, joy, hopefulness, and so much more. Sometimes we need to live our lives like dogs. Be present in the moment, be curious, and most of all, love unconditionally.

Thanks for letting me wax philosophically. Have a great weekend everyone. Remember, we're almost at the 100 mark.

TGIF, Christmas friends!

Sorry my posts have been so infrequent lately. Between Elizabeth's play and my travel plans, I've been stretched pretty thin.

We went to a member's season preview at the community theater last night, and I'm pretty excited about some of the upcoming productions! There's A Christmas Carol coming, and a winter-themed Cinderella, along with a few fall season productions.

Right now, Elizabeth is wrapped-up in planning for her school's one-act play competition. There're doing a one-act Music Man, so that should be fun!

Well, we had a dry day at last yesterday, with sun but also with increased temperature and humidity. ("Sticky" is the word the meteorologists like to use.)
Today shows our rain chance increasing again, with a high in the low 90's.
The present reading here in the capital city is 76 degrees.

Oh man!! I'll need to get to Menards. I've never seen their Enchanted Forest.

The Menards in Tipp City does the Enchanted Forest. Lots of trees with beautiful lights and a path through them. It sits in the middle of the store where they usually have summer furniture.

Thanks! We can’t wait for our Frankenmuth day. We live an hour and a half south of there, so you’d think we would visit more often. But we really don’t. We love the chicken dinners and shopping throughout the town. And of course, Bronnor’s is a huge highlight.

Have fun in Frankenmuth and Bronner's! We do not get up there as much as I would like, but we went to Bronner's last year and picked up a few things.

Hello all,

Not much going on today really. I think Henry and I going to go to the pond in the neighborhood and do a little fishing. We usually go quite a bit in the summer but this year we have not gone as much.

Tomorrow my wife and I are going to a Blues Festival with my dad and his wife. It is the Bacon Blues and Brew in Batesville Indiana. The big attraction is a younger blues star, Samantha Fish. She is really good and is getting more and more attention, so my dad really wants to see her before she stops playing festivals and smaller venues. The weather is supposed to be quite nice, sunny, low humidity, and 70s.

Nathan and a friend of his went up to Cedar Point Amusement Park today. He is trying to make the most of his extra week. lol

Good morning MMC!! Merry Friday!!! Tonight is our CIJ party w/ snacks & white elephant exchange. Tomorrow is our smoked turkey dinner & fixings! It's also our neighbors birthday, so an all day party it is! Weather should be good all weekend w/ little chance of rain & highs in the upper 70's! Really looking forward to all of it! I need to get my Christmas shirts out!

Didn't get much sleep last night. I had 2 girls (dogs) wanting to play half the night...and my hubby had to leave for work at 4am! Trying to keep my peepers open. Might need a nap!

Thanks! Piper really came around! She's "attacking" Lu bug now! LOL!! They had a lot of fun last night ~ just took a little time & a bark collar on Lucy! I don't zap her, but I'll beep her collar if I think she's getting too rough & it's enough to make her stop. I brought Piper back home this morning so I don't have to worry about them unsupervised!! I'll pick her up again at lunch! ♥ ♥

Holy Moly!
Was walking at Crabtree Valley Mall this afternoon and look at what I saw!

I talked with the staff lady at the information booth and she said the mall is going to celebrate "Christmas in July" and that Santa himself will be out there this weekend!
(Naturally, I'll be there with camera in hand.)
Crabtree has never done this before in it's 46 years!
