Christmas Countdown - 2018

I mostly post in the Christmas Talk section, and I have not posted in a while because everything has been just so busy with the kids activities, trying to get ready for holidays right after the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving. But I LOVE it all! I only have 8 more days at work, then off until after New Year's! Yayy. All of our decorating is finished except our master bedroom tree which I will do tonight since we're still on leftovers for dinner. Love being able to watch Hallmark channel while decorating, it makes the decorating so much fun and festive!
Good morning, MMC! I slept better today - got up a little after 5 am. I'm hoping to get a nap in at some point - I work tonight at 7. I've been talking with one of my best friends, who is also the nurse practitioner I see - I've been having a lot of issues with my sleep and various other medical issues, which could be sleep deprivation related. She thinks I could have shift work sleep disorder. I've never heard to it before until I did some research, but this could be very well what is going on. I'm to have some blood work done to help diagnosis. I'm praying once I eventually go daylight, that will help.
Not much planned for today. We have our niece again and DH is off, so we plan on trying to get some wrapping done. I want to start baking later this week, so I've gotta get some wrapping done too. We got our Christmas pictures done on Saturday, so I soon as I have them back, I can order Christmas cards and get them sent out.
I hope you all have a great Tuesday! I'm thinking of all you, especially SFM, Holiday, and Xmastidings. Praying that you get good results today, SFM.

It’s hard to sleep when the rest of the world is at work or school. Between daylight and regular background noise, there are many things that can disturb our rest. Hopefully you will be able to transition to the 9 to 5 world at some point. Thanks for the services you provide to those in need.

THREE WEEKS from today we will be celebrating Christmas Day.
(Happy Holidays, indeed!)
One grand, final warm day yesterday.
We will now be entering a long cold spell that will see lows in the 20's and 30's with highs in the 40's and 50's.
(It doesn't pay to get used to warm weather this time of the rolling year!)
Our current temperature is 44 degrees, but at least it is sunny.

You're so welcome and thank you for saying so. Not only is hard for me to sleep during the day, but I'm having a terrible time at night now too, which I've never really had before or if I did, it was once in blue moon. It's a continuous cycle anymore.
Boy oh boy, I have to start the day here today. Why, because it’s been in the forefront of my life for the past 12 hours! WHY?
I’m telling you, at times, a honest fella just can’t win for losing.
I gotta a MMC Christmas card in the mail, which I didn’t get out of the mailbox till Sunday. I opened it and it was from a member here, that was signed “Merry Christmas, love, xxxxx”.
Well, I didn’t think anything of it. That is, until my wife saw it and she blew a head gasket. She saw that the card was signed by a single woman. Man, I’ve been hearing it off and on since yesterday, and again first thing this morning.
Of course, I knew my wife loved me, I knew that, but I didn’t know she was very jealous of me, when it came to other women, until that card came.
I have been interrogated multiple times now, she went on MMC to check out the site, and I had to get rid of the card. Plus, if I receive any more Christmas cards from any more single women, they must be destroyed. Receiving them from married women with return labels Mr and Mrs blah, blah, blah is ok and, as well as several super close friends here, is allowed also.
But wow, I didn’t know wheather to be proud, insulted or what... all I know is that I’m not allowed to send one back to that person or any other single females here. Truthfully, I don’t know of any single females here. She believes that a married man should not be receiving Christmas cards from any single woman, signed “Love .....”! It’s not proper to do so.
Oh man, talk about something completely out of your control, that without watching where I was going, I stepped on a yellow jackets nest!!!
Boy, she must really love me.
So Jeff, Brad and Mark, please don’t sign your Christmas card to me with “Love”!

It's a real thing with me any time of the year. I also squint my eyes throughout the year so the street lights look festive at night.
It's one way to keep Christmas close when it's the middle of summer.

I’ve been worrying about something like this would happen to you, buddy. I’ve personally seen it with my own eyes, seen what it can do to a person, that’s something that can really mess you up. Please, please, my friend, I pray now, that since the kiddos are in school, that hopefully you can find a day light job and get your body back into it’s natural rhythm.
I have you on my mind. Take care of yourself my friend, I’ll be keeping you in my prayers.

I hope you get some rest! I worked at night shift for one week to help a friend out here at work, and it was the worst week I can remember LOL.

The first Christmas we had our dog, Ragmop; the family who gave her to us gave us a Gingerbread House on Christmas Eve and my family gave them one from the Pastry Monk. We broke into on New Year's Day. We continued this tradition for several years.
This year, I am giving a Gingerbread House kit to the family next door to my parents. They were the only ones allowed in on Christmas Eve to visit with mom in her bed that had been moved to the dining room. The relationships they had was good for them and my parents; their children were like grandchildren. The woman of the house was the second person in the neighbourhood to learn of my mom's passing on the 27th as she rushed over to one of the triplex units when she saw the ambulance, fire truck and police pull up.
It was hard to watch the beauty of the moment they shared with my mom and so very good for her to feel love like that; I'll never forget that moment. They had just come from the 7:00 p.m. Mass that lasted two hours. There was a heavenly presence; it seemed like a scene from a Hallmark movie.
Gingerbread always bring memories forward. Thanks for reminding me.

I bought one that was prebuilt. It went so much better than last year. Last year was the year of the house we had to put together and it was bad. The house ended up in the trash the next morning.
I think I may be almost to the halfway point of the book. I'm hoping with my crazy schedule for the rest of the week I can finish it. Have a great day with your niece! I hope you can get a lot done too
