Christmas Countdown - 2018

Good morning MMC!
I have lots to do today. I’m heading to the mall to do some clothes shopping, we have to attend two parties this weekend and I’m looking for new outfits. I also have to make a Target run, I have a list of things that we need and I haven’t been able to get there. And I’ll keep my eye open for any Christmas gifts I might be able to buy while I’m out. Other than that I’ll be working on my daily chores. I have chicken defrosting for dinner but I have to figure out what I’m doing with it. I need to cook breakfast right now and start this day. I hope everyone is well and has a great Thursday!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

It's already been a hectic morning at work. I'm ready for another cuppa coffee.

I'm leaving work at noon to take Nancy's car for service. While it's there, I'm going with Jacob to traffic court to pay the fine for his accident a few weeks ago. Then I'm meeting Nancy to go Christmas shopping.

Good Morning, Near Single-Digiters!

And can we really be talking about SINGLE DIGITS to Christmas Day 2018 at this point?
Can we truly be that close?

Wow! After just two more days, we will indeed be facing single digits to the Big Day itself!

Slowly, ever so slowly, we warm up. Each day perhaps 2-3 degrees warmer than the day before. Still snow lying around but grass and shrubs are showing!
Today will see us hopefully break into the mid-50's and that should give the snow pack the final blow.
Right now we have again started out fairly cold, at 34 degrees here in the capital city.

My niece who just moved out to NC sent an SOS on Facebook to her mom this morning..."Mom, please wend our snow shoes - the ones we packed away thinking we wouldn't need them in NC" LOL

Ugh another school shooting here. At least the school cop was able to take down the shooter before he hurt anyone.

Monday night a 14 year old kid shot and killed a customer at the Dollar General a mile up the street from me during a armed robbery.

I don’t know what’s wrong with people anymore.

What the heck?? UGH! How scary, awful!!! Sending prayers. Hope you are having a good day despite the crazy sad news around.

Happy Thursday (a.k.a. Friday Eve)!

It's a bit of a peculiar Christmas season at the workplace. A decoration competition started on the 5th that is supposed to be judged next Wednesday, but NOBODY has decorated. I guess they'll all do it at the last minute, because they are a very competitive bunch. But it's so different from last year, when decorations burst out all over the place in December, and there were TWO full-sized Christmas trees, one on each "side" of the building.

We have our tree up and decorated on our side, but then again ... I'm the only one who's ever bought decorations and put them on the tree. I also bring in a foot button so we don't have to plug in/unplug the lights every day. I think it's kind of taken for granted, although my supervisor (who has a desk near the tree) gives me credit if someone walks by and comments on the tree.

I don't try to compete, because the judges are looking for really over-the-top displays, and I like my modest little desktop tree and a few other items. I decorate because I like to have some Christmas around me, not to win a prize. Well, if nobody else decorates, maybe I'll win by default ... but I'd rather see some Christmas displays by others to add a little more spirit to the place.

They must be slackers like me this year!! I hope things get festive at work for you soon!!! xx

I'm a bit of a slacker at home. Holiday projects this year took so much time that I didn't get any outdoor decorations up, and some of my indoor decorations are missing, too. But our tree shows through our front window, so that'll have to do! No cookies or treats made yet, and I still have wrapping to do. At least the mailing of cards and packages seems to be done. Even with the longer Christmas season (due to the early Thanksgiving), there just hasn't been time enough this year.

I'm a bit of a slacker at home. Holiday projects this year took so much time that I didn't get any outdoor decorations up, and some of my indoor decorations are missing, too. But our tree shows through our front window, so that'll have to do! No cookies or treats made yet, and I still have wrapping to do. At least the mailing of cards and packages seems to be done. Even with the longer Christmas season (due to the early Thanksgiving), there just hasn't been time enough this year.

Sounds like we are in the same boat this year. I made the Hershey Hugs pretzels last night & I have done 11 batches of Peanut Brittle, but I still need to make sponge candy, & oreo balls. Cookie day is this Saturday! I am hoping to get a few festive things up tomorrow - and yes, my tree also shines brightly in the front window! ♥

Sounds like we are in the same boat this year. I made the Hershey Hugs pretzels last night & I have done 11 batches of Peanut Brittle, but I still need to make sponge candy, & oreo balls. Cookie day is this Saturday! I am hoping to get a few festive things up tomorrow - and yes, my tree also shines brightly in the front window! ♥

This coming weekend is where the ongoing tree trimming takes a backseat to the completion of the Christmas Cards. They just gotta be in the mail Monday morning.

Man the grocery store was a mad house this morning. Everyone must have Christmas parties and baking to do this weekend.

Mom has caught the flu from my niece it seems. I’m coughing a little but hopefully won’t get as bad as her.

So I’m going to make some sugar cookies while I can.
