Merry Thursday MMC!
Not too much going on here. I would say it’s a typical day but my routine is slightly off since my husband is on vacation, he doesn’t go back to work until after New Years Day. I have a couple of quick errands to run and I’m trying to catch up with the laundry. I may take a ride to Kohl’s to use my Kohl’s cash. Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs. We’ll probably catch up on some shows later tonight. I think that’s about it. I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!
xx
Enjoy the week with your hubby!! ♥

Hello.
I know that empty feeling you are talking about. I find the few days right after Christmas are the hardest to keep the spirit alive.

As far as keeping Christmas cheer all year:
We have one Santa decoration that stays up in the living room all-year long. That really does help. I can always look at Santa and I light up with joy.
I also listen to Christmas music all-year round. Not all of the time, but when I am in the mood for Christmas music, I listen to it; especially when it snows. During the summer, I listen to Christmas music when I mow the grass. It took my wife a little while to understand my Christmas music habits, but she gets it now. However, unless I am home by myself, I use head phones.;)

Another great way to keep Christmas going is to celebrate Rudolph Day on the 25th of each month. Watch a Christmas movie or some other Christmas type of activity. This is going to be something I do for sure this year.

The best way to keep Christmas cheer alive (and I am going to sound like a commercial here) is to stay active on the forums here. We are all in the same boat and help each other throughout the year. Check out the daily winter/Christmas pictures thread, this thread of course, and explore the others. The sense of community is amazing here and it really helps on those days when you are not feeling Christmassy.

I hope some of that helps.
GREAT advice! :)

Here's another diddy I made up in the shower ...
Christmas! Christmas!
By:AuntieMistletoeDear (Sung to the tune and based on the lyrics of Iko Iko performed by: The Dixie Cups (By: James Crawford Jr. / Rosa Lee Hawkins / Barbara Anne Hawkins / Joan Marie Johnson)

Mama Elf and Papa Elf
Were sittin’ by the fire
Chatting ‘bout Christmas wishes
What’s your child’s desire?

Talking ‘bout Christmas! - Christmas!
Ho-Ho Ha Hee-Hee
Sippin’ hot cocoa with Santa & Mrs. C
All the elves’ children and me.

Christmas smells and Christmas bells
All share a common glee
Sharing the joys of Christmas
All ‘round the Christmas Tree.

Talking ‘bout Christmas! - Christmas!
Ho-Ho Ha Hee-Hee
Sippin’ hot cocoa with Santa & Mrs. C
All the elves’ children and me.

See the snowman in the yard
He’s painted green and gold
There’s a special celebration on the way
It’s Christmas I am told.

Talking ‘bout Christmas! - Christmas!
Ho-Ho Ha Hee-Hee
Sippin’ hot cocoa with Santa & Mrs. C
All the elves’ children and me.

See Santa all dressed in red
Climbing into his sleigh
Gonna start his deliveries
As long as the wee ones are in bed.

Talking ‘bout Christmas! - Christmas!
Ho-Ho Ha Hee-Hee
Sippin’ hot cocoa with Santa & Mrs. C
All the elves’ children and me.

Ho-Ho Ha Hee-Hee
All the elves’ children and me.

That's a little something I do in the shower, when I'm not solving the world's problems or work related ones, I am making up merry tunes.

Keep a merry song in your head! -sing-
BRAVO!!!!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

We had a great Christmas! After church on Christmas Eve, we went to Nancy's family get-together, and lots of seafood! We spent most of Christmas Day at my mom's, with my family and Jim's family. I smoked some turkey and a ham, and it was pretty good, if I do say so myself. ;)

I'm off all week, but I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose. Doggone it.

And Jacob is home for the week, too!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
-merry-
Sounds like a great Christmas!! Hope you are feeling better as the day goes on!! Lots of "icks" going around out there.

I have a few errands to run today.

Hard to believe it has been a year already since my mom passed away with my dad and I at her side knowing she was loved.

Other than a few songs she used to play over and over sneaking into my head and a few funny memories, I doubt she will be occupying my thoughts today any more than other times since she's been gone.

Family, friends, music, and Christmas (among other things) occupy my thoughts constantly so I imagine today is really just another day of celebrating life and doing my best to stay jolly through the hours.

+hKeep a merry thought in your head! +i

Hello all.

Went to Meijer this afternoon and picked up some Christmas sale items. Nothing major, just a few boxes of lights, some new ornaments for the Santa tree, extra bows and labels.

My wife helped me put up some more posters and such in my man cave. It is full of Browns, boxing, history, and school stuff.

Everyone enjoy your evening.

Tonight my brother and I will go visit my cousin. One of the tests that they did today was inconclusive so they are going to do an angiogram on his heart. All the cultures they have taken are not growing any bacteria so they may have narrowed it down to something that isnt an infection but they dont know yet what happened to cause the stroke. We are being positive. Thank you for all prayers

They are actually going to do an angiogram on his brain as there are multiple clots in different vessels they consider it multiple strokes. He thanks you all for the many prayers.

Praying for everyone who is sick or hurting tonight and always

TGIF MMC! I'm working today and then off for the next 4 days. That's a nice break. I'm looking forward to it before we all get back to the grind January 2nd. I have one uncle tonight for coffee and then Sunday another. In between that I hope to have time to relax, go post-Christmas sales shopping, some errands, and some fun. Have a great last TGIF of 2018!

Good morning MMC!
Merry Friday!
We’re expecting lots of rain today, could be heavy at times. I’m just having a cup of coffee and I’m working on a menu plan and grocery list. Not too much going on here, I just have to run a couple of errands at some point and I’ll be working on my daily chores. Dinner will be meatloaf with mashed potatoes & gravy and roasted brussels sprouts. My daughters wedding is one week from today, the time is flying by. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
xx

Hi all.

I joined this forum two years ago, when I was feeling the post-Christmas blues. Ever since I was little, I looked forward to Christmas all year long. I love the music, the movies, the lights, decorations, the aura, the history...basically, everything.

I love how early it all starts, but I HATE how it seemingly ends at 9 PM on December 25th. In 12 days fashion, I still love doing Christmas things up until mid-January.

Still though, I just get an empty, hollow feeling, when everyone around me is packing up their Christmas stuff, throwing out their trees, etc.

What are some little ways that you friends keep up the Christmas cheer all year round? Despite me still celebrating through early January, it just doesn't feel the same.

Anyone feel me on this?

Ah, Brooker. You have come to the right place to get through the Christmas blues.

I echo what many have said, but there are a few different things I do. A few days after Christmas, I spend time thinking about what went great and what could go better. I actually take a few hours and type it in the computer so i can go back and read it, again. When I start feeling the blues coming, I will also write some events in the calendar for next year. The last few years, my wife has started experiencing the blues right around New Year's Day, so we will always write down events in the calendar and talk about things to do in anticipation of these events.

Also, I keep a couple of things on my desk. I have a snowman and a countdown ornament. Those are always present and in-sight.

Finally, come here more often and visit with us. Talk to us when you feel it. We love to talk anything Christmas and we would love to see you more often!

Greetings and Merry Salutations! +b

It's a skating rink outside my world; supposed to be going to a feast and bowl gathering with friends later tonight. Dog sled or skates would be the best way of getting there. Might take a cab, 'cause I don't want to cancel and if it remains icy, my husband won't want me to drive. He's not worried about my driving; it's the other drivers out there, the type that don't slow down or give themselves more time to stop.

When I was little my parents and brothers had a family of friends that I didn't know about and they didn't even know I existed. About 16 years ago, two of those family members entered my life and we found out about our family histories. Been acquaintances for that long and bordering on friends the last 2 years and I enjoy Michele's company and the whole mystery of why I wasn't included as a child still baffles me.

Not much going on today; I'm in a cooking mode so I'm making two dishes, one for tonight and tomorrow night.

Stay jolly! +e
