Good Morning, Discerning People.

And as truly discerning people, we acknowledge the beauty and value of Christrmas and its glorious Season year round, even in January.
Yes January, the month where the first of our many Milestone markers arrives.
More about that, presently.

First, let's look at today's data:
Days to the Season: 312
Days to Christmas Day: 354

And can we really be this close to SINGLE DIGITS to that first marker, which just happens to be the 300-day Season Window?
Then, the very next day, begin a 200's level Season count sequence?
It just seems too soon, doesn't it?
Yep.
(Until you remember that our Season count has been running ever since last Nov. 13, that is!)

Cold weather will be with us for at least the next couple of days, with lows in the lower teens and highs below freezing. Not until Monday will things begin to return to a southern January normal.
Currently, we are at 17 degress here in the capital city.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
Enjoy the first Weekend Eve of 2018!

Happy Friday!
No school for my kids and it is so cold out there! But tomorrow morning is supposed to be even colder maybe -10. Ugh..but next week looks like we will be thawing out.
Just working today and my daughters are both having sleepover tomorrow night. That is pretty much the extent of my weekend.
Hope you all have a great day and stay warm!

Morning MMC! Well our 1-3 inch forecast the day before the storm turned into 12 inches of snow. I was one of the last people at work yesterday and as I crawled home no more than 20MPH I regretted having gone to work. At least I got credit for the day though. And there weren't many cars on the road so it was just me and the very snowy roads mostly. Today I woke up to a wind chill of 23 below 0. Who predicted a mild winter? I'd like to talk to them...so far it's been below average for the most part since the beginning of December. Well it's Friday and I'm going to get Wendy's tonight which I rarely get but I enjoy from time to time. Make it a great 1st Friday of the year and hibernate this weekend if you can!
This cold is brutal!! I think you said you read we may have a milder winter the 2nd half? I hope they are right!! Have a good Friday!

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday!! And a COLD one at that!!

I hope all of you in the North East are staying safe. It's been snowing & blowing here, 3º, feels like -11º. Cold enough. Heard from my brother on the Cape, as of around 7 last night they only had a couple inches of snow. It was blowing really hard but they still had power. Hopefully they faired ok.

Anybody have any big plans for the weekend? It will be a pretty mellow one here & I'm perfect with that! My sis will cut/color my hair at some point this weekend (much needed) & tomorrow afternoon I'll go to stay with Mom & I'll be there until my relief person comes at 6pm Sunday. I'll bring some good 'ol Christmas movies (mom likes them) & snuggle in over there! :)

Everyone, have a Merry Friday! Stay safe & warm!

Happy Friday, Holiday!!
So glad your brother still had power, they were saying the Cape was getting slammed with high winds.
I have a pretty low key weekend too. Christmas movies sounds like a great idea!
Have a good day!

Thanks Crown! NORMAL temps is going to feel like a heat wave!

Good morning and Happy Friday!
That was quite the snowstorm yesterday, definitely blizzard conditions. We’re expecting frigid temperatures through the entire weekend. I’m just having a cup of coffee and working on a menu plan and grocery list for next week. I’m heading out in a little bit to make a Target run and I’ll stop at the butcher on my way home. Other than that I’ll be working on some chores around the house. The Christmas decorations need to come down and I’ll be doing a deep cleaning. I’m going to miss my Christmas trees!
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day. Keep safe and warm!
xx

I did. This is a La Nina winter and normally the East can get extreme/cold/snow in the 1st half of the winter while the 2nd half tends to favor milder than average weather. The 1st half is definitely living up to it so I hope the 2nd half does too!

I totally agree, short fur this time of year is harsh. Do Wheatens require a lot of brushing? Is Lucy almost all white now? I love that you call it a little bear look :)

She normally gets 1/2 brushed out a few times a week. We can never do her whole body in 1 sitting. LOL! A minute or 2 & she's done - time to play! :D
Here is Lucy after her groom yesterday in her snowflake bow. :)

Merry Thursday!

Praying everyone in the path of the storms will be safe and warm!

Very cold and windy out this way. The furnace is barely off when it comes back on. I'm snuggled under Palmer's Christmas present as she prefers the old blanket she's had since she was a kitten to this new one. Nice and toasty at the moment.

Again, be safe everyone, and merry, too!
Funny you mention this. Last night I walk in the tv room & Lucy is sleeping on the couch, my hubby is sleeping on Lucy's bed! :p :D ;) Enjoy Palmers new blankey!

Reading about all this weather makes me envious. I've observed that when the weather turns bitter cold and the big snows hit back east here in the west we reside over a dome of high pressure that makes every day the same. We have cold -- but nothing else going on. Give it a week or so and I bet the pattern changes, and we get the snow. We'll see.

Late last night I went to pick up my wife from one of her last swing shifts. One more week of this craziness and we're done working this opposite schedule (which is for the birds).

Anyway, it's about a 12 mile drive one way and all was well getting there. She got out late so I sat in the car, reading on my Kindle as I usually do. When she came out, however, the car would not start.

Weirdest thing. There we were, pushing midnight, 20 degrees outside, and we couldn't move -- 12 miles from home. Was there for more than an hour trying to get it going. Had to hitch a ride home from some other folks getting off shift.

And I've spent most of my day getting it towed and now looked at. Waiting for the verdict.

I was not wanting to waste a vacation day on this type of thing....
Hope your vehicle problems are an easy fix!

Well, no school today! The cold temperatures closed most of the schools in the area. A few stayed on a delay. Luckily, we got the phone call for being closed last night.

Now I have a three day weekend, which is awesome. However, I do have to spend a substantial amount of time grading World Religions papers.

Everyone have great day!

Good evening from a bitter cold winter wonderland!

It has been a snowy day here, we got at least a foot and it is still coming down lightly. The real fun starts with the temperature, it is 20f with a real feel of -5f. That is nothing, tomorrow the high will be 11f with wind chill of -20, and Saturday high of 5 with wind chill of -35f. Brrrr!
Didn't do much but watch TV and cleared the driveway, I loved being out with my outdoor lights on, it looked so Christmassy. Schools already cancelled for tomorrow, back to work for me though.
I hope you all had a safe, great day.

Goodnight, everyone
Hope you had safe travels to work! xx

Good Friday morning! We got a bit of snow overnight but the worst is how the temperatures dropped again. With the windchill factor, it's -33°C/-27°F and it will be like this for a couple of days. I don't know how long Loki will want to walk this morning, poor little guy. Second day off for me, just chores and relaxing at home. Glad I got all my errands done yesterday. Have a nice day everyone and stay warm!
You & Loki stay safe out there!! Enjoy your day off!

I know plenty of folks here who'll donate snow. All you need to do is come to haul it away! :D

Schools in my town are closed today, and our neighborhood streets are only partially plowed (they clear the major roads first), so I decided to stay in and work from home today. I know my athlete-culture co-workers will be in the office today, but I'd rather spend my effort on the work than on the travel.
You are the smart one. Stay warm & cozy at home!

Happy Friday!

I hope your kids enjoy their day off school & their sleep overs! You all stay warm & enjoy some Christmas movies! :)
I haven't heard anything from my brother today so hopefully they kept power. xx

The thought of taking down Christmas makes me sad! Still enjoying mine too much!
Have a good day!
