Good Morning, Discerning People.

And as truly discerning people, we acknowledge the beauty and value of Christrmas and its glorious Season year round, even in January.
Yes January, the month where the first of our many Milestone markers arrives.
More about that, presently.

First, let's look at today's data:
Days to the Season: 312
Days to Christmas Day: 354

And can we really be this close to SINGLE DIGITS to that first marker, which just happens to be the 300-day Season Window?
Then, the very next day, begin a 200's level Season count sequence?
It just seems too soon, doesn't it?
Yep.
(Until you remember that our Season count has been running ever since last Nov. 13, that is!)

Cold weather will be with us for at least the next couple of days, with lows in the lower teens and highs below freezing. Not until Monday will things begin to return to a southern January normal.
Currently, we are at 17 degress here in the capital city.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
Enjoy the first Weekend Eve of 2018!
Thanks Crown!! We are suffering with -1°f still and knee deep in snow. It looks fabulous outside!!

Well, unfortunately it's trash day today, and since my tree has been pretty dry and prickly for about a week already, I think it's best to toss it now. Normally I wait until the second trash day of the month to finally take it out. But it's in pretty bad shape at this point. Not terrible shape, but bad enough that I don't think I should leave it another week, because by then it will be in really bad shape. It's just a little four footer in the corner of my room so it doesn't take up much space. And every year I'm not totally deadset on leaving it up that long, I'm just never in any rush to take it down. I'd like to have it up at least through this weekend, but I don't think that's going to happen. In a few minutes I just have to force myself to start taking off the ornaments and lights one by one. I still have a lot of my other Christmassy and wintery stuff out so it's not getting all packed away just yet. Still going to enjoy that through the weekend. It's just the tree that unfortunately has to go at this point.

At least you still have other Christmassy things up. But it's still a sad time!

Time to kick it to the curb Noodle!! Our real tree only sa about a week left, still 3 artificials up though.

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday!! And a COLD one at that!!

I hope all of you in the North East are staying safe. It's been snowing & blowing here, 3º, feels like -11º. Cold enough. Heard from my brother on the Cape, as of around 7 last night they only had a couple inches of snow. It was blowing really hard but they still had power. Hopefully they faired ok.

Anybody have any big plans for the weekend? It will be a pretty mellow one here & I'm perfect with that! My sis will cut/color my hair at some point this weekend (much needed) & tomorrow afternoon I'll go to stay with Mom & I'll be there until my relief person comes at 6pm Sunday. I'll bring some good 'ol Christmas movies (mom likes them) & snuggle in over there! :)

Everyone, have a Merry Friday! Stay safe & warm!

We are hoping to go out of town for the day tomorrow but it depends on whether or not that snow off the lakes is going to hit us.
Hope you have a great visit with your mom !

Best not to wait until the poor thing turns into an Everbrown....

Same thing with us. I put my daughters in charge of keeping the tree watered. Last weekend I checked it and it was bone dry. They admitted they forgot and haven't watered it since the week before Christmas. It is very stiff and the needles are falling off by the handful. My wife unplugged it on New Year's eve and it hasn't been lit since. The city is picking it up Monday morning so I'll get out to the curb in the next day or two. It was a shame we couldn't have it lit up during the snow the other day. We celebrate Epiphany tomorrow night and I may plug it in one last time during the meal.

Busy, busy around here! It was 18°F this morning, and it'll be 65°F on Monday!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Stay safe.
The thought of taking down Christmas makes me sad! Still enjoying mine too much!
Have a good day!
Mine are up for a little longer too, I am enjoying them too much also.
After reading Jeff's editorial about ending Christmas early, I am thinking i will be keeping them up longer than usual.

Good evening,
First day back in the books, tomorrow I have to be in for 4am.
Spent a lot of time in the -10f freezer, so when I went outside in the 9f temp it felt warm.
I hope you all had a great day
Goodnight, everyone

At least you still have other Christmassy things up. But it's still a sad time!

I'm still doing my post holiday early January carrying on of it all though, so that's definitely been making it less sad.

Nice! I have all my other decorations and lights still up too.

Best not to wait until the poor thing turns into an Everbrown....

I bought it earlier this year than I normally do, so it's no surprise that I'm having to throw it out so soon.

At least it was good up until Christmas. I would just go ahead and plug it in one last time. I had mine with the lights all ablaze last night myself.

Tonight we decided after two evenings in a row home and snow shoveling today, that we go out to outback and get a steak. The food was good but wow, the temps outside tonight. The wind chill is -10 and the wind on your face make your skin start to feel it’s burning. My poor honey was freezing. That’s ok, as soon as we jumped into the truck, I turned on the seat heaters and before you know, your buns start to become nice and toasty!

Of course I had to ahemmmm fish tale the truck a few times in the snow and frozen roads... boy that was fun!!!!

Morning MMC! It's freezing cold out. But oh well that's why I'm calling this Hibernation Weekend. Not gonna do much other than the essential errands and such. Next week we're supposed to get into the 30s and maybe 40s a day or 2. That's going to feel like Miami. Have a great 1st weekend of the year!
