Good evening MMC ~
Sorry I was away so long, I hope I didn’t miss too much. Praying everyone is well.
My daughters wedding was on Friday and it was absolutely beautiful. The day went by much too quickly but we enjoyed every minute. My daughter and her husband are in Aruba on their honeymoon right now, I can’t wait to see them when they get back on Sunday.
My father ended up in the hospital again this past Monday because of his congestive heart failure. He’s responding well to the medicine and we’re hoping he will get to come home soon. He was well enough to be at my daughters wedding and it meant so much to us that he was there. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the hospital so it’s been pretty hectic for me the past few days. I’m looking forward to things slowing down and I hope to catch up with all of you!
xo
I am so happy the wedding went so well and you Dad was able to go...continued prayers for him and I hope he gets to come home soon!

Good Pines Day MMC! Not too bad out there this morning after an on and off sleety/drizzly Tuesday. They're watching a storm for the weekend but it's supposed to go south of us (or so they say). I woke up thinking "wow it's ONLY Wednesday?" I knew this week would seem so long after the last 2 weeks were so short. But I'm enjoying each day as much as possible and hope you are too. Have a great Pines Day!
I woke up and thought it was Thursday..ugh..lol I agree with you, this week does seem to be dragging.
I heard the storm may go south too but then this morning there was a slight chance it could turn...who knows??

Happy Wednesday / 'Pines Day!
Almost the middle of January already ...
I was just talking to my daughter yesterday and she mentioned exams next week and it hit me that is was already the middle of January!

Coach, I don't even have a TV anymore! There was a severe storm here this past summer and one extremely scary lightning strike close by that burned the phone lines going to and from the phone box, split a pine tree in two, and killed the TV. I only had local channels as cable and WI-FI aren't available out here, so if I wanted anything it had to be via satellite. The package that had TCM and Hallmark, the two channels I watched the most, was the premiere one and way out of my price range as being an antique dealer I do not have a guaranteed income every month and really have to budget. Since I can watch DVDs on my laptop, that is what I do and I've found out that I really don't miss the TV! :)
we have been without cable/satellite. Prices here went through the roof and we were just not willing to pay that. We have netflixs and utube and internet. It was really hard at first, but we are used to it now. Was watching TV with someone, and I'm like, what with these commercials? LOL

Good morning all.

Not a lot going on today. Just getting ready for the school week and watching the NFL playoffs. The results were what I wanted in the games yesterday, we will see how today goes.

Our washing machine was acting up yesterday, not fully spinning the clothes. So we had to "reset" it which is a strange process of unplugging it from the outlet and then quickly opening and shutting the lid 6 times. :p It seems to work though.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!
what, no duct tape ? LOL.....you do repairs like me, gets my brother shaking his head and his usual, "I can't believe you tried that and it worked "

So to honour you and your devotion to Christmas even when it hurts a bit; I offer one of my favourite songs I wrote about 8 years ago.

If It Were Christmas! By: AuntieMistletoeDear (adapted from Topol’s - If I Were A Rich Man from: Fiddler on the Roof)

If it were closer to Christmas
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
All day long, I’d decorate my home
If it were closer; ho, ho, hum.

Wouldn’t have to trim the tree much
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
I’d bake some cookies and pies
Hang the lights for the evening skies.

I’d build a big tall snowman with a top hat
And all sorts of frills and things like that
A fine broomstick and perhaps a friend
Who knows where the mistletoe be at?

I’d fill my yard with Ferris wheels, festive wooden soldiers,
A Christmas village and a Nativity - perhaps
I’d build one snow fort for the Grandkids to play in
It’d be warm with hot cocoa to serve and some gingersnaps.

I wouldn’t have to wait much
Santa would be arriving soon
I would wrap gifts by the dozen
Right in the middle of the living room
With ribbons and bows and pretty paper
And special festive tags to match.

The people in the town would come to me and wonder
Where’d she get the Christmas spirit from - ours seem under wrap
And how’d she manage to play music from her computer
Piping it out in the streets for all to hear, while trying to nap
And amazingly they’d gaze at the revolving Merry-Go-Round
Taking them back to childhood joys and awe.

I would watch Christmas movies all night
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
This would be the sweetest thing of all
If it were closer to Christmas;
Sing along y'all!

Keep it jolly!-surprise-:lightman+d
love it !

Thanks Crown! 50 weeks till Christmas!
Every 2019 Pines Day is another week less, to the day(no partial weeks), to Christmas!

Thank you! Today was quite difficult. My aunt asked me to read Psalm 23. I was very nervous about doing it, but I got thru it for her.
Their cousins had to go home after the funeral due to having to go back to work tomorrow. They sent us all a text about an hour ago that they got home safely. We are so thankful they could come to surround my aunt with as much love as possible.

Thank you. I'm not sure she really understands what is going on but knows that her aunt needs lot of love

Sounds like a perfect night. Enjoy! I hope you start to feel better each day

Glad to hear they got home safely.

Yes, you're right. She may not fully understand what is totally going on, but know that people are hurting around her. Kids can tell and know when something is wrong and when to be strong. God love her.

Thank you - each day is getting better, but is still hard. I'm on Prednisone for my rash and it is making it very hard (has a lot of side effects, one including severe depression, which I've never had issues with before and now I'm experiencing), but my husband and family are being a huge support and and being here for me every step of the way.

My car is stuck on an icy patch; the snow was so deep it was level with my doors. I was so boxed in, I couldn't get out. I don't want to call CAA, but I may have to if I can't move it; I'll use my husband's car tomorrow to run a few errands; glad we have two cars.
We've had two snow days in a row - doesn't really effect me, but I notice these things.

Hope you got everything figured out and made it home safely!

Hello My Merry Chums,

Interesting thing happened today at work. I was telling a co-worker who decorates her place really nice for Christmas and had a photo of her place put on a local new page. I was telling her about the Across the Creek Neighbours and the sign they made to thank me for my cards the last few years.
Another co-worker and mother of one of the children I gave presents to this year overheard us and said, I made the news on the radio station. I denied it and she said, "Are you a merry stranger?" My curiosity was peaked, "Yes, you should know!" (I dropped a parcel off at their place when her daughter was just 2 years old and some homemade fudge with a note that it was from a Merry Elf, but she recognized my penmanship; left-handedness and all).

One of the radio stations had a "send a good news story" thing going on and the daughter of the Across the Creek Neighbour shared the story of the merry stranger who was surprising her mom with cards the last couple of years and this year added a homemade ornament to the envelope. She went on to describe how she and her brother put up a sign for New Years to thank the Merry Stranger and had shared the inside of the card. It had over 120 reactions as a simple gesture meaning so much.

Found out the woman across the creek is 88 years old and her name is Pauline. When I bring the thank you card over, I might actually knock on the door and introduce myself.

I always wondered how she was receiving them, if she was nervous about the "watcher from the other side", but she was delighted by the gesture. Sadly her Christmas decorations are no longer lit up.

I'll have to go back to squinting my eyes looking at traffic lights to get my merry fix!

Stay jolly! -surprise-

Very cool and what a nice story!

Thank you; I made it home safe and sound; just can't drive my car right now. I can walk to work. I might ask a few neighbours to push me out if I get a chance tomorrow. The snowplows have been building up quite a pile around my car which isn't helping. The same thing happened to my husband's car a few weeks ago.

Glad to hear you made it home - best thing is that you are safe.

Well, we found a lump under the dog's front right leg and the vet says it's a severe allergic reaction. We assume he's allergic to wheat and chicken as we've pulled those two ingredients out of his diet before and any reactions have disappeared. We've caught the FIL, who has vascular dementia, feeding the dog, even though he had been told not to. And we suspect the dog has been going downstairs and eating anything he finds on the FIL's floor, like biscuits and cookies.

So, the solution is the restrict access to the basement by getting a pet gate to put across the stairs to the basement so the dog doesn't go downstairs. Plus, we have to find one that can be opened easily so the FIL isn't banished to the basement and can leave freely. The gate has been ordered and should be here in a couple of days.

We can't blame the dog. He's just taking advantage of free food and doesn't know any better. Plus any conversation with the FIL is met with confusion, because of his dementia, as he doesn't remember feeding anything to the dog. The adventures continue.

Sorry about venting, but I just needed to express myself. In other news, there's some pumpkin roasting in the oven to be pureéd later for recipes and I've made a nice batch of blueberry oatmeal muffins for a church meeting later this week.

What a rough go of it your having. I’m sending happy vibes your way and prayers for quick relief. Blessings to you.

Bless them both...and you, too!

Tonight was the first of the services for my cousin. My mom's/aunt's cousins came down to support our family from Massachusetts, which was a great surprise. We are so thankful some of them were able to come down.
My cousin's fiancé from Canada came down and it has been nice to get to know him. We still aren't in agreement about everything and question why they desire to get married so soon but are glad he car down to support her
praying for you all, always good to have support at times like this.
My eldest daughter met, got engaged and married Chris in 4 months, talk about a whirlwind few months ! It just happens for some, they know.

Wanted to share this...Carolina drew this for my aunt so she knows that Zachary is always with her. People loved the picture and thought it was a great representative of him. One if her PreK teachers came as she was friendly with my aunt and told me that Carolina is sensitive to the needs of others and they are impressed with how she is handling everything right now

That is very sweet!!! 2 of my Great Nephews drew pictures when Mom passed - it was their best attempt at drawing a dead person/casket/tombstone. The older one wrote a note with it that said "I am sorey that you did but you are with God" From Mason. (and this exactly how he had everything spelled.) Too cute!

Good afternoon MMC friends!!!!!

Good Tuesday morning! We had our annual inventory at 7am yesterday and I was up at 2:30am and didn’t manage to leave work until 5:30pm and I hd to take Loki to the vet right when I got home for his annual exam and shots, so it was a long day.

As usual at the vet while in the waiting room, Loki wanted me to hold him and was whimpering and shaking like a leaf. He did not even react to a gorgeous cat left in a basket not too far from us while his owners paid for his treatment, when he usually goes bonkers around cats. He always gets a lot of treats from the vet, it’s like he only remembers the bad things about that place.

We got snow overnight and it’s very windy right now, the type of day when you’d rather stay warm inside, but we have some errands to run and David has a physio appoitment this afternoon. Chores and laundry are on the list as well. Have a great day everyone!
with Penny we only need to bring out the cat carrier and she goes into hiding.
