Happy Saturday...we found out my daughter tore her ACL. She starts PT on Tuesday and surgery is tentatively scheduled for 11/14. I feel so bad for her but there are definitely worse things out there. We are not up too much today. I am catching up on laundry. Hope you all have a great day!

Oh no! May her rehab and surgery go well. I know she must be pretty down in the dumps but the resiliency in our youth is pretty remarkable. You are so right about keeping things in perspective. There are things plenty worse that have to be dealt with. Best to you and your daughter - HIB

Good Morning, Everyone!

It's oasis time. Time to sit back to review the week past and plan for the week ahead.
And what better way to get into the mood than to sip some sweet southern iced tea while munching on one of the fired twinkies you took home from the Shispering Pines last Wednesday, being unable to resist the deal Carl offered to you.

So. Being in the proper frame of mind, let's contemplate this morning's latest:
Days to Halloween: 12 (Close to single digits!)
Days to the Season: 25 (Barely over 3 1/2 weeks!)
Days to Christmas Day: 67 (Under a week off from the 2 month point!)
(Are you more excited.......or scared?)

Cool days and chilly nights is the pattern here recently. Lots of sun and no precipitation.
Today and tomorrow show highs in the mid 60's.
Monday and Tuesday are indicated as reaching the low to mid 70's.
Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, as the remains of tropical storm Nestor pass not far to our east.
("Nestor". Wasn't that the name of a long-eared Christmas donkey?)
Right now it's sunny, and we show 45 degrees for our current temperature.

Speaking of sweet southern iced tea, fired twinkies and Pines - I won't be attending the next one as I'll be at the Elton John concert.

My temp. is about the same as yours, but the sun is out so it feels a bit warmer to me.

O'Malley will have to wait until the 30th and the Haunted Pines gathering to show off his freshly groomed fur.

The groomer called and pushed us to 4:00 p.m. so I'll start my attempts to get O'Malley into his pet carrier soon. He's doing the "ma-ma-mee-maw!" thing which means he wants food, but I gave him his lunch when I got back from errands and a handful of treats an hour ago so that's it until we get back.

When I drove downtown I noticed the film trucks all over the place and they decorated some of the storefronts with Christmas decorations.

They're filming what I think is a sequel to Christmas in Angel Falls or something like that for Hallmark.

When I drop O'Malley off, I'll have half an hour to kill so I'll take a walk down that way and see if I can grab some photos. They didn't make any fake snow so I'm not sure what city they're supposed to be in or if the snow is the last bit of the movie to do one of those typical Christmas snowy day miracle bits.

Good Friday evening! Finally the weekend is here! Temperatures have dropped a bit, to the point that I turned on the heat in the living room for the first time this season. This afternoon we gave our employee battling cancer the money we had all pooled together so she could afford to take a week off work to rest and recuperate. In total we surprised her with 575$, enough to cover her expenses and buy a new Winter coat that she needed. That week's rest will also allow her to resume her cancer treatments, as she had decided to take a break because of extreme fatigue. It's moments like these that show just how great of a team we have at work.

What you and your team have done for your co-worker is awesome!

Prayers for your daughter, SFM.

Started planning our condo's cookie sharing event for probably the first Saturday in December. Last year we had quite a turnout. We gave half of the cookies to our first responders in DB Shores and they really appreciated them. We even made the local news. The cops and firefighters are in the same location but there were three shifts so we brought at least 12 dozen cookies to them. I'm not sure how many batches I can do this year but I'll try to do at least 6 dozen. We had a good turnout of people last year (about 30) and each came with quite a few cookies to share. We ended up giving our 4-man maintenance crew a dozen cookies each.....and they were gone by the end of the day!

Happy Halloween Home Stretch MMC! The 20th of October already! Yikes. Rollins and I "slept in" for us at least as in stayed in bed an extra hour than usual. Yankees lost so baseball season is over for me. But we still have more than half of the football season to go. Have a Happy Halloween Home Stretch!
