If you're referring to cataract surgery it's a breeze. The easiest surgeries I have had. After the surgeries I don't really need to wear glasses except for reading.
I don't have cataracts but the surgery is similar. With ALS, you eventually lose the use of arms, legs and voice, so communication with eye tracking software is how you talk. But, yes, the procedure is similar in that they will replace my natural lenses with artificial progressive lenses. That should enable me, when and if the time comes, to use my eyes for typing. The new lenses just got FDA approval in September so I'm very excited to rid myself of glasses and not have to worry about the software working in the future. The new lenses will correct reading, distance, and astigmatism.
