Christmas Countdown - 2019

Good Thursday morning! I'm working the afternoon/evening shift today. I'm just relaxing right now with Loki by my side, before I do a few chores and prepare supper to bring to work. I just can't wait for the weekend to arrive, I need a couple of days off. At work people are still talking about a weird/funny thing that happened on Monday. After inventory, one of our employees mentionned over the radios we use to communicate that there was a Christmas tree in the men's restroom. We thought he meant one of the trees we were selling and that someone had put it there while they were using the restroom. But he became really agitated so we went to look and turns out it was a real pine tree that someone had stuck inside a toilet bowl. Pine needles were all over the place. Loss prevention was there so they looked at the cameras and saw 2 young guys coming in laughing, carrying the tree, probably on a dare. I've seen a lot of weird things in restrooms over my 20 years in retail but never a pine tree. Anyway have a great day everyone!

Oh gosh....a Christmas tree...what a mess!! I am sure you were right and it was a dare.

Good Merry Morning,
I received a belated Christmas gift yesterday and it was a Dick and Jane book. When I was in grade school, we didn't use those books to learn how to read, but while cleaning out our basement when I was about 7 years old, I came across my moms collection of her old readers and I brought them up to my room. I liked them so this gift brought back pleasant memories of a connection with my mom through those old books.

I am working late today so I'm not going in until 11:00 so it gives me a chance to play catch up on here and visit with my husband and the cat a bit since they'll both be semi-dozing by the time I get home tonight.

I had a weird dream about the cat last night; he was walking along the edge of the balcony railing, spotted a pigeon and took a leap to catch him. He landed on his feet and flipped over on his side. I threw my slippers on and raced outside, the snow disappeared and there was green grass. One of O'Malley's paws was sore, but he wouldn't let me pick him up, he wanted to relax in the sun and roll in the grass. When I woke up, I went to check on him to make sure he was okay because I thought it was an odd dream. He was snoring away in his old cat bed. Strange dream.

Thinking of everyone going through stuff; you're always on my mind.

Merry Thursday MMC ~
I was just outside with Rocky and it’s pretty chilly out there. My oldest has been sending me pictures from Aruba and I’m jealous. They went on a catamaran sunset cruise last night and she said it was heavenly!
My father got some good news, his doctor was in early this morning and said he will be discharged from the hospital today. I’m going to head out soon to visit him, hopefully it won’t take too long to get him out of there and get him settled at home. I also have to stop at the supermarket afterward. Back home to work on the laundry. Dinner will be fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, biscuits and a cranberry almond spinach salad. I’ve been slacking on my meals lately, I need to spend some more time in my kitchen!

Merry Thursday MMC ~
I was just outside with Rocky and it’s pretty chilly out there. My oldest has been sending me pictures from Aruba and I’m jealous. They went on a catamaran sunset cruise last night and she said it was heavenly!
My father got some good news, his doctor was in early this morning and said he will be discharged from the hospital today. I’m going to head out soon to visit him, hopefully it won’t take too long to get him out of there and get him settled at home. I also have to stop at the supermarket afterward. Back home to work on the laundry. Dinner will be fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, biscuits and a cranberry almond spinach salad. I’ve been slacking on my meals lately, I need to spend some more time in my kitchen!

Good evening,

I had a bad day dealing with my anxiety, I went to bed last night in almost a panic attack and a raised heart rate. I am better now but that is my life now after last year's breakdown.
Lights are still going strong, and the snow forecast has seemed to disappear. Looks like no pictures of lights and snow this year. I did watch Home Alone, and A Christmas Story 2 today. Keeping Christmas going strong here.

Well, we found a lump under the dog's front right leg and the vet says it's a severe allergic reaction. We assume he's allergic to wheat and chicken as we've pulled those two ingredients out of his diet before and any reactions have disappeared. We've caught the FIL, who has vascular dementia, feeding the dog, even though he had been told not to. And we suspect the dog has been going downstairs and eating anything he finds on the FIL's floor, like biscuits and cookies.

So, the solution is the restrict access to the basement by getting a pet gate to put across the stairs to the basement so the dog doesn't go downstairs. Plus, we have to find one that can be opened easily so the FIL isn't banished to the basement and can leave freely. The gate has been ordered and should be here in a couple of days.

We can't blame the dog. He's just taking advantage of free food and doesn't know any better. Plus any conversation with the FIL is met with confusion, because of his dementia, as he doesn't remember feeding anything to the dog. The adventures continue.

Sorry about venting, but I just needed to express myself. In other news, there's some pumpkin roasting in the oven to be pureéd later for recipes and I've made a nice batch of blueberry oatmeal muffins for a church meeting later this week.

I've never heard of a dog with a chicken allergy before, poor doggie! Hopefully, the gate will solve the problem. My grandmother had dementia, it's such a terrible disease and it's tough on everyone.

He was and I actually walked around with him in my cart before I finally put him back because he was really close to one I already have.

Happy Pines Day; second of the New Year - whaaat?

Wanted to offer up a festive poem I wrote many years ago; included in the odd Christmas card ...

Before Santa Claus arrives with or without snow,
I'll hang the outdoor lights and a festive bow.
For the reindeer, I’ll leave a treat or two,
And I’ll be sure to clean the chimney flue.
Santa will nod as he leaves a gift by the tree,
A special surprise he chose just for me.

With or without snowflakes touching the ground

Good Morning, MMC!!! It’s going to be another cold day with some snow showers through out the day. The real snow will arrive Saturday though. The forecast has gone from 2 inches yesterday to 4 inches today. So it looks like we are in for our first real storm of the season. I guess that means I should probably go get a snow shovel too since mine broke at the end of last year. I hope everyone has a great day!!!!

My husband and I went to Aruba for our honeymoon and loved it...beautiful island! We always say we want to go back one day!

Good evening, friends and Happy Pines Day! Sorry if I've been a downer with all my medical talk today, but I appreciate all the prayers and thoughtfulness. You guys are truly the best.

I'm just sitting here, trying to stay way and watching tv, chatting with a friend. My mom was going to come in and spend the tonight and tomorrow night with me, but the weather got really bad and it's supposed to get really windy as the night goes on, so I told her I would be fine and since it's is looking okay for tomorrow evening, she could try it then. DH is at work, kids are doing their thing, which it will soon be bed time anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a delay tomorrow.

I can't remember if I mentioned it yesterday or not, but tomorrow will be the second anniversary of Ella's death. It doesn't matter how much time passes, it doesn't seem to get much easier for DH and myself. She was my first pet and was such an amazing dog. I miss her everyday and of course at this time of the year, I miss her more than words. I know I've been asking you guys for a lot of prayers, but if you guys could please just keep my family in your thoughts tomorrow, we would appreciate them greatly. Ella's favorite food was pancakes, with continues to be all my dogs favorite food, so DH said he's coming home and making that for the kids for breakfast in honor of her and having a special moment of silence for her in the morning. DH of course will leave for work around 4 tomorrow afternoon, but I think him and I will just relax tomorrow and just enjoy each other's company, with the dogs.

You're having a rough time of it. Medical scares are alarming. I hope you're feeling better and continue to improve each day. Sending continued well wishes your way.

Losing a treasured pet is a horrible loss and you have my sympathies. Enjoy the pancakes, that's a lovely way for your family to commemorate her.

still sick here, does not seem to want to let go.
Daughter had a fender bender this morning. Roads really bad, all school buses cancelled and country schools closed. She was not charged because of the roads.

I have Santa’s everywhere. Lol!!

There are several boxes under my bed and 5 totes in my bedroom closet. 2 totes in the coat closet. 1 tote in the hall closet. The kitchen stuff lives in the cabinet above the fridge. Bathroom stuff at the top of the linen closet.

I’m going have to move to a bigger apartment or rent a storage unit if I keep buying more. Lol!!

Good afternoon MMC!!! I get to go to my old job this afternoon. (home for lunch now) That will be a nice break from the craziness of the new job. Mercy! I hope some day - hopefully sooner rather than later - I'll understand how things work there. Whew!!! Everyday is a learning curve!!

My sciatica is feeling so much better today. It's still there, but not nearly as painful!! Hopefully I'm on the up swing with that! WOW was that painful!! No more sitting at the calculator all day, rarely getting up!!

I'm hoping to have time to log on this afternoon at the old job to get all caught up!

[Holiday]

It was crazy today!!! Freezing and heavy wind whipped snow showers. I don’t know why I even left the apartment!! I went to the south side though and hit up 5 different stores looking at Christmas stuff. I only bought a couple wreaths though.

Today is cold too, but yesterday was really miserable!!!
