When the year is off to a bad start...A former employee of ours who just got promoted to assistant-manager and was supposed to start training this week learned this morning that the cells they removed from her throat are cancerous and specialists are recommending a qtotal removal of her larynx, as chemo would not yield good results. She is devastated, having to decide at age 56 if she wants chemo, with a slim chance of long-term survival, or having a permanent tracheostomy, with all its consequences but with 100% certainty she will be cancer-free. If you can include her in your thoughts as she goes through this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh gosh! Sending prayers for your former employee!!

Good Tuesday midday! Temperatures are warming up but cold weather is coming back soon enough, with 12 inches of snow predicted for Sunday! I REALLY hope that forecast changes before then.

When I finished work last night my car wouldn’t start. And for some reason my phone died on me at 7%. Thankfully the grocery store in our mall is open until 10pm so I managed to locate an electrical outlet to charge my phone long enough to call a cab to come and boost my car. There have been 2-3 times this month when I felt the car struggle upon ignition, so I’m not taking any chances and I’m having the battery replaced on Thursday. I only slept about 4 hours last night, I think I was too hyper after my car issues and had trouble falling/satying asleep.

Hope everyone is enjoying a great day so far :)
I hope a new battery takes care of all your vehicle issues & you (and I ) both get a good nights sleep tonight!

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!
It’s a bit warmer than it was yesterday, it’s going to be sunny with temperatures in the mid 30’s. We’re currently at 20 degrees. I’m just having a cup of coffee and relaxing for a few minutes I need to get started on breakfast soon. I have to run to the mall later this morning to pick up a couple of more gifts to give to my daughter after her graduation ceremony tomorrow. I have to stop at the supermarket afterward and do some food shopping. Other than that I will be working on the laundry. Dinner will be tacos with chips & guacamole. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well. Have a great day MMC!
xx
Tacos sounds good for dinner. Congrats to your daughter
So sorry to hear this, Martine. Will keep your co-worker in my prayers.

I was really tired last night too!
I still have 5 houses on my street with lights on..
The people across the street still have their tree up and lit
Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

The doctor called to move my appointment to tomorrow, so I've been re-arranging my work schedule again. Luckily, my boss is easy to work with in that regard.

It's still overcast and cold, but it'll be back in the mid-70's later this week, before freezing temps come back for the weekend. LOL

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
I hope your appointment goes well and they don't change it on you again
Good afternoon all! Not much going on here. I have my niece again today and DH is working, so we're just chilling and relaxing. I'm drinking coffee and getting caught up here with all of you.

So, as far the car went, I think I mentioned to you all the other day (I apologize if I didn't) my BIL is a car salesman at a local Audi, VW, and Toyota dealership. I have a nice car right now - a 2016 Honda Pilot, but it's bigger than what we need - we should have never bought a third row vehicle (again - don't ask), but as the family gets bigger, we thought we would want it with 2 kids, 2 dogs and Honda talked us in to it. It was obviously an expensive vehicle, more than I would like to share with you all. LOL. It wasn't brand new, but close enough. We could afford the payments, but to make it a little more affordable for us, they drug the loan out a little longer than I had hoped for and talked my husband in to. Anyway, I was involved in a 3 car accident last winter and my damage was $11,000 worth. You wouldn't even notice to this day that anything is wrong with the car, but because of so, that's really brought the worth down on the car and with this loan, we weren't ever going to get a head above water of this car. We wanted to get rid of this car, while we could. As a lot of you had saw the other day, the great idea our friend had. My gracious BIL sat almost all day yesterday, ran everyday deal, way, what have you, leasing (which I put almost 20,000 miles on my car a year, so it had be a high mileage lease, so even with the cheapest kind of car they had, we were talking a $600-700/month car payment and that is just mine. I don't think so!!! He even did a lease on Audi - I'm hoping just to be funny - if not, he's completely nuts and my payment would have be $850-$1000 a month. He's just insane.) Anyway, he worked for hours, looking at Toyotas, VW, and Audi's. He was looking at putting me in to a Toyota RAV4, but the owner was there and said if I was looking staying in between size vehicles, he really recommends that I get the VW Tiguan. It is made by Audi - we are getting the name, just like the Acura I was looking at used by Honda, but not paying the price and still getting the quality. He said it's a wonderful family vehicle and once I sit inside the car, I'm going to absolutely fall in love with it and it drives beautiful, plus it's $100 a month cheaper than Toyota, for it being owned by Audi. He said he yes wants to make money and wants to sell us a nice car, but also wants us to make a good decision, something that is good for our family and that is economical and not going to strap us down, which I really appreciated. I felt like they treated us very well. Well, he was right - DH and I sat in the car - DH took it on the road and I drove it around at least in the parking lot and we are absolutely in the love with the car. They offered more on both of cars then the other place was, so we sold them both of cars and bought me a brand new car. We got a 2019 VW Tiguan (which is an AWD SUV) and DH then will go back in June and lease his first ever truck and his first ever brand new vehicle as well - we always both have had used cars. We're both really excited for ourselves. We started our family young, 23 and got married at 22, built our house at the same age, and just have worked really hard, so I am just happy and proud for us, knowing it's paying off. It really helped too that VW offers discounts to all first responders, nurses, and military. Just in case any of you are ever looking!

Anyway - thanks for putting up with my lengthy car discussions the past couple of days!

Nothing else planned really for today. I am relaxing pretty much, tying up some odds and ends around the house, and getting dinner ready here in a little bit. DD has group competition baton this evening, which is 2 hours long, but she is feeling a lot better, so I think keeping her home yesterday did help. Thank you all so much for the prayers!

Hope you're all having a great day!
Congrats on the new car!
I hope my area doesn't get all the snow.
How awful! What a nightmare!!! Praying for the family & your community!
I found out yesterday my co-workers 15 month old cousins baby passed away suddenly. He just stopped breathing while taking a nap at the babysitters. How awful for the babysitter! They were doing an autopsy yesterday. So sad!
Hope your hand feels better soon!
Praying for the family! So sad

How entirely awful. Prayers for the entire family.

Good evening all. Just sitting here getting caught up. Brought the new car home and love it! Listening to some music on my Alexa that DH got me for Christmas. It's a station on Amazon Music that is a cover band station, which we discovered today that Sirius XM has as well and found that we LOVE IT. Since we got a new car, it comes with Sirius XM for 3 months free, so now I got Sirius XM for 1.5 years for $5 a month. I must say I am pretty HAPPY about that!

I hope you're all having a great day!!!

It’s been a long couple of days here. My neighbor came home from rehab on Saturday and he really should have never been released. His kids act like it’s a big shock but even I knew he would need 24/7 care once he got home from when I went to visit him there. It’s not like the doctors were trying to hide it. His daughters just wanted to ignore it and thought he’d be fine. So now it’s just a big mess and I’ve been over there a lot trying to help out when they can’t be. They say they have worked out a plan but I’ve heard like 5 different versions of it today alone. So who knows what is going to end up happening. I just know it can’t keep going like it is.

It’s disheartening to hear that your neighbour’s family can’t be there for him or at least make sure to get him the proper help at home. You are very kind to help out made, but they really need to get their act together.

Happy Pines Middle Day of January MMC! Funny how 22 degrees felt so cold on Thanksgiving but today it feels normal or even not bad. Looks like the storm for the weekend may be some snow and rain. The heavy amounts of snow are supposed to stay north of us. But it looks like the storm may bring us enough snow to be shoveling and plowing. I hope everyone is doing alright. Hard to believe today at noon we hit the halfway point in January already. I remember when January & February used to crawl and now they move steadily ahead. Dare I say Christmas is coming already? Have a great day!

Good morning ~
Just a quick hello. We’re heading out early for my daughters graduation ceremony. I have lots to do before we leave. I can’t believe my baby is graduating from college. Another milestone for my family. I will check back in here later today. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
xx

Good Morning, Everybody!
So very, very close now to our premier Milestone marker of 2019.

Let's inspect the exciting details:
Days to the Season: 301
Days to Christmas Day: 343

Wow!
The 300-day Season Window. It will be here TOMORROW!
Then, the very next day, our Season count will begin with a 2.
(And that just seems "2" soon, Folks!)

Bit by bit. Day by day. We get just a little warmer for the high.
Today will see that gradual trend continue and we are predicted to reach the mid 50's, then 60 by Friday before we cool off again.
This center day of the week has commenced here at a chilly but sunny 30 degrees.

Is it 'Pines Day again, already?
Yep. And already the third one of the new year.
(That hardly seems possible, too!)
Anyway, Carl is ready as always at the front door. And owing to the chilly temperatures, he is offering a choice of iced or hot tea. (I just might take the latter this time!)
Hope to see you all there.

Meanwhile, you try your level best to have a Wonderful Wednesday, OK?

Oh how awful, prayers for the family. I can't even imagine what they are going through and the babysitter.

Congrats on your new car! I will have to look for that station on Amazon!

They are lucky to have you, Made. I hope they straighten this out soon.

Ah! My biggest challenge and my biggest fear, Auntie!
Sometimes I wonder just how many ways the English language can be manipulated to say nearly the same thing in a different way 365 times a year for over 15 years. That's over 5,000 posts, less some off for times I'm away!
I guess one of these days, I'll start the daily post, my eyes will glaze over and that will be it. Time to hang up the word processor!

Nah, it's too late to retreat to the cabin in the hills. :rubhead
