Good Morning, Weekend Appreciators.
Yep. We do look forward to and appreciate our weekends, don't we.

And we also appreciate our beloved Christmas Season and want to keep track of just how far off it is, so we won't be taken by surprise.
Well, that's why we are here. So that, through following the count, you will always be in the know and prepared!

Thus, we present today's numbers:
Days to the Season: 298
Days to Christmas Day: 340

And our next Milestone? The 1/4 point to the Season?
Well, that stands just 24 days up ahead. UNDER 3 1/2 WEEKS.
(And now you are prepared!)

It was quite pleasant here yesterday, with lots of sun, very little wind, dry conditions, and temperatures well into the 50's.
(Hey! The weather service got it right!)
Today and Sunday will see us again into the mid 50's before things take a cold turn late tomorrow.
For now, we are enjoying a nice, albeit cloudy, morning with a thermometer reading of 46 degrees, here in the capital city.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Everyone.
(And a great weekend, too!)

Morning MMC! TGIF for real! Sometimes at work it's just like overwhelming and you realize you are only 1 person trying to do 20 things at once. Well based on the weather forecast the next 3 days here and the fact I am off Monday it looks like this weekend could be called hibernation weekend! But I do have errands to do and I am not the type to stay home and do nothing all day. However, this weekend the tree will finally come down. But I will smile as I take it down as I think about how amazing it will be to put it up in 300 days again. Make it a great Friday!!!

We are definitely hibernating in my neck of the woods; temp currently at -29 with windchill of -42 and could hit -45 today and tomorrow. Good excuse to camp out on MMC for a few hours and get some housework and cooking done.
The pros and cons for grinching the tree and then decorating again.
Stay warm!

Good morning MMC! My daughter has a basketball game and then I am going to hit the grocery store. Then we will be in for the rest of the night and tomorrow. They are now saying we could get more sleet so who know? We will have to see what happens. Hope you all have a great day and stay safe in the storm!

Good Saturday morning! It’s -30°C/-22°F with the wind right now and temperatures will actually get colder as the day goes on. And we’ll likely have over 12 inches of snow by the time this snowstorm passes over us starting tonight. Wish I could just stay inside and cuddle up with David and watch movies all day but I have to work. David was feeling very down yesterday, he is facing unwarranted negative comments at work regarding his light workload as he waits for his shoulder surgery. And he is anxious about his pre-op tests on Monday. I wish I could take all of these struggles away from him. It worries me to see him like this. Right now he’s just sleeping peacefully with Loki by his side. I hope he just has a relaxing/worry-free weekend to recharge while I’m at work. And hope everyone will enjoy a great weekend as well.

It's a shame people at work complain when someone is on limited duties; that's why they have plans like that in place in many businesses so employees can still work. Those who complain are entitled if they required that condition due to medical issues. Hope the surgery results in the full use of his shoulder.

Good Saturday morning MMC!! It's snowing like crazy!! Hubby is out & about. He said the roads are a little slick - we had some rain before the snow started. Good thing he's getting his running done early!!! I have a big pot of Ham & Veggie soup on the stove. It's smelling so yummy in here! :) We are planning to have cocktails with the neighbors later on! (Soup & snacks too!) I got a new dip recipe from my co-worker yesterday, so I bought all the ingredients yesterday. I'm excited to try it! Loving this snowy day....I just want everyone to stay safe & warm!
In just the couple minutes I've been typing this message - the snow backed off a bunch. What the heck??? I'm pretty positive this isn't the end of it though! ;)
Everyone, have a great day!!!

:)
Thank you! I did have a wonderful evening.
Merry Friday Eve to you!
xx
Glad to hear it!! And I made tomato soup yesterday! ;)
Merry Saturday!

I never really got involved in any school sports, but always thought if I went back in time that the sport I would have tried out for would have been basketball. I enjoy the sound of a basketball dribbling and I've had many "swoosh" baskets just messing around. Baseball was likely the worst for me, hitting a round ball with a round bat just didn't do it for me and I wasn't good at pitching so often when playing with neighbourhood kids, I'd wind up in right field praying the ball didn't make it that far.

My homemade soup is one of my favourite dishes. I'm making some on Saturday. I use a tomato base so my husband will eat it, but I've made some pretty delicious corn chowder and turkey noodle soup in the past.
Well if you are making soup today, we are cooking together! :) I made a tomato based veggie soup the other week (still have some in the freezer) but today I'm making a ham & veggie soup. No tomatoes involved. ;) My mom/dad always made a delicious "turkey bone" soup. It didn't have noodles, but I'm sure they could be added!! Enjoy your day & your soup!!

Thanks to everyone that sent prayers and well wishes to my brother. I am hoping he will get released from the hospital tomorrow ahead of this winter storm. They still don't seem sure how much snow we will get here. They are talking about ice too, which of course is a whole other ball game. I don't plan on leaving the house Saturday or Sunday so I can enjoy it!
Continued prayers!! Stay safe in the weather this weekend!!!

'Tis the weekend; what a busy week and next week will likely result in longer hours than usual. I was supposed to have Thursday and Friday off for vacation and was going to Ottawa to surprise my brother for his birthday, but cancelled my plans; I'm just too busy right now. I added a vacation day in February to the Friday before Family Day weekend so we can go then when my husband has a bit more strength. The boys want to see in person how he's doing. He made some progress this last week and is moving around better than usual.

Last night, he noticed that the p.j. bottoms I bought him had Christmas lights all over them with a navy background. I said, "Well, you light up my life!" He forgot that You Light Up My Life was one of the first songs we danced together to at our Wedding.

I picked up a wedding gift for my oldest grandson and his fiancee, they aren't getting married until late May, but I saw something that caught my eye and just had to get it.

It's a lovely huge canvas with a relaxing scene of blue sky and an ocean with beach level lawn chairs and candles. The candles light up with the flick of a switch.

We'll also donate $$ to their honeymoon, but I saw that and knew they'd like it; they've already been on 3 cruises together to tropical destinations.

The sun is trying to shine; no snow expected so although it's terribly cold, I don't have to worry about getting out of my parking spot on Monday morning.

Took the city until Wednesday to finally clear my spot out. I guess I could have shoveled it myself, but my right shoulder is acting up again so I didn't want to take a chance since it was really their mess.

It's O'Malley the cats big ol' 14th birthday today. Think he's going to continue doing what he does best; blocking our paths where he decides to take a nap and letting us know when he thinks he deserves a treat or a rub.

I played a joke on him; too bad he doesn't get it. Remember I said he has an olive fetish and two weekends ago when I was making my rainbow pasta chicken 'n cheese Florentine, he lapped up a bit of sauce from the floor and ate a piece of spinach ... well, I bought him an Italian chef placemat for his small dog trough to rest on so he doesn't make too big a mess. My husband thought it was silly, but he wasn't surprised by it.

I'm going to attempt to exercise him with his mini Lambchops toy that was in my merry package from HeadElf.

Keep a merry thought in your head! -mistletoe-

I'm making my soup. Do you whistle while you work? I do or I'll toss on music if my husband isn't watching TV.

Prayers for David for his upcoming testing and surgery, as well as you, to see him through everything. Praying for safe travels on the roads, Martine.

Happy Weekend, everyone!

Thinking (as usual, but don't always say it) of those who have worries and illnesses, and sending up a little prayer for you all.

Stay safe! Check in when you can and get some much needed rest!
Thanks!
We're going to go out for lunch before the snow/sleet/freezing rain starts just to get out of the house. Then we'll be cozying in for the evening. Looking forward to that! We stocked up so we don't have to go out in the awful weather tomorrow or Monday. Fingers crossed that we don't get the worst of the ice buildup and don't lose our power.

Thank you! We are so proud of him. He won the Seamanship award which means that he did the best applying the classroom knowledge to the field

Congratulations to him! That is quite an honor. :)
Safe travels for your trip!
