'Tis the weekend; what a busy week and next week will likely result in longer hours than usual. I was supposed to have Thursday and Friday off for vacation and was going to Ottawa to surprise my brother for his birthday, but cancelled my plans; I'm just too busy right now. I added a vacation day in February to the Friday before Family Day weekend so we can go then when my husband has a bit more strength. The boys want to see in person how he's doing. He made some progress this last week and is moving around better than usual.

Last night, he noticed that the p.j. bottoms I bought him had Christmas lights all over them with a navy background. I said, "Well, you light up my life!" He forgot that You Light Up My Life was one of the first songs we danced together to at our Wedding.

I picked up a wedding gift for my oldest grandson and his fiancee, they aren't getting married until late May, but I saw something that caught my eye and just had to get it.

It's a lovely huge canvas with a relaxing scene of blue sky and an ocean with beach level lawn chairs and candles. The candles light up with the flick of a switch.

We'll also donate $$ to their honeymoon, but I saw that and knew they'd like it; they've already been on 3 cruises together to tropical destinations.

The sun is trying to shine; no snow expected so although it's terribly cold, I don't have to worry about getting out of my parking spot on Monday morning.

Took the city until Wednesday to finally clear my spot out. I guess I could have shoveled it myself, but my right shoulder is acting up again so I didn't want to take a chance since it was really their mess.

It's O'Malley the cats big ol' 14th birthday today. Think he's going to continue doing what he does best; blocking our paths where he decides to take a nap and letting us know when he thinks he deserves a treat or a rub.

I played a joke on him; too bad he doesn't get it. Remember I said he has an olive fetish and two weekends ago when I was making my rainbow pasta chicken 'n cheese Florentine, he lapped up a bit of sauce from the floor and ate a piece of spinach ... well, I bought him an Italian chef placemat for his small dog trough to rest on so he doesn't make too big a mess. My husband thought it was silly, but he wasn't surprised by it.

I'm going to attempt to exercise him with his mini Lambchops toy that was in my merry package from HeadElf.

Keep a merry thought in your head! -mistletoe-

Happy Birthday to your cat! My dog turned 14 last month. Hope O'Malleys gets to enjoy a nice treat for his special day!

Thank you; at this point, O'Malley is my longest living cat. He's quite the character and ever so spoiled.

Hello all.

Well, I am very disappointed in the weather right now. We were forecast to get 8-12 inches of snow today and tonight. Woke up this morning to rain and freezing rain. It is not after 3:00 and still freezing rain... no snow. :(
It is still suppose to change to snow this evening and we should get a couple of inches along with 40mph wind. But that is a far cry from the snow I wanted.
I was looking forward to sitting here on my birthday and watching it snow all day. Instead I am sitting here watching rain! Bleh

Well, I hope everyone is having a good day.

Happy Birthday - sorry you didn't get much snow for your birthday; I have tons I could ship your way, but I don't know any of the snow removal drivers.

HoHoHello! :ringy

Not much planned for today, still bitterly cold out there; will likely be staying inside where it's warm since I don't have anything pressing to take care of today.

Decided to surprise the gang at work by sneaking a sweet treat on or near Rudolph Day each month to help with my inner excitement of the countdown to Christmas. Christmas cookies and chocolates have a longer shelf life than I realized; most are 6-9 months and some longer. Every now and then I'll offer some Clementines.

First up, chocolate dipped sugar cookies for next week. +j

Stay jolly!

Happy Championship Sunday MMC! Our storm turned mostly into slush. Not a lot of snow here. It's raining now mostly. 35 degrees and by tonight it should be 5 degrees. That's a heck of a drop. I'm going to watch the NFL Championship Games today and try to get some rest in. Have a great Sunday everyone!

It snowed hard here yesterday for about 5 or 6 hours...but I bet I have less than .5 inch on the outside furniture. It didn't get below freezing until probably three or four hours after it was over....ugh. I don't mean to complain, but I would just love one big snow. I think the most I have seen is 6 or 7 inches. Just once...I'd like to have a foot! Maybe someday! The good news is that there won't be too much of a mess.

Church, football, and little girls today. I can't wait to get home and watch some football. I usually go pick up groceries on Saturday or Sunday, but Doc is going to do it for me this weekend. I plan on making spaghetti and then making some Sloppy Joes for tomorrow.

Y'all have a good one! See you this evening!

Good morning ~
Merry Sunday!
Well we ended up with all rain here, no snow. The temperatures are going to drop rapidly this evening, I hope the ice isn’t too bad. I always worry about the girls driving in this weather, doesn’t matter how old they get! I plan on staying in today. I already fried meatballs and started a pot a sauce, dinner will be baked ziti. There’s an Islander game on this afternoon so I’ll be watching that and working on the laundry as well. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well. Have a great day MMC!
xx

Good Morning, Folks.
NFL playoff Sunday! Lots to watch.

But business before pleasure, so let's get to work on today's count figures:
Days to the Season: 297
Days to Christmas Day: 339

And the next pending Milestone? The second one on our 2019 chart?
Well, that would be the ONE QUARTER mark to the Season.
It's proximity? Just 23 days down the road. Three weeks from the day after tomorrow, in fact!
(How can a full quarter of our Season trip be so nearly completed?? If you have any theories, please tell us!)

Last warm day, and even it won't be warm for much longer. Temps are supposed to start crashing by this afternoon and our overnight low is predicted to be 18 degrees with a high tomorrow of only 34.
I know. Not bad at all compared to the northeast. But hey. This is the south!
Our current temperature is recorded at 55 degrees here in our part of central North Carolina, and we are bathed in sunlight!.

Have a Super Sunday, Everybody.
And don't forget the two playoff games this afternoon. The winners go to the Super Bowl!

Good morning all!

Well, once everything turned to snow it accumulated quickly. He had blizzard like conditions until about 2 in the morning. I have not tried to measure anything as it is nearly impossible due to the crazy winds. But one local station reported we picked up almost 7 inches of snow. That 7 inches all came down in about 7 hours. The cold is now here and it is going to get colder. Tonight we are suppose to have -11 real temperature with wind chill close to -30.

More relaxing on tap for today. Watch the playoffs, do a little school work, and enjoy the day. (Some Christmas music might find its way into my ears today too);)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Good morning...we didn’t get to much snow but it’s sleeting our there now. We will be staying in for the day and once we get that freeze tonight I am sure it is going to be a mess. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning all!

Maaaan, is it coming down out there! I’d guess we’re probably close to 2’... it’s a winter wonderland! Of course I say that now before I go out there and wrestle with it, lol. Anyway... looking forward to the football later. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Good Morning, MMC!! Well we ended up with about a 1/3rd inch of ice and then 3 inches of snow yesterday. I shoveled this morning after the crazy winds died down and now I’m just going to stay inside where it’s nice and warm. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

I love this idea, Auntie and such a thoughtful idea!

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all surviving the winter storm comfortably.

We got several inches of snow overnight that turned to sleet. We spent about an hour outside after breakfast, thawing out the cars and shoveling away the ridge at the end of the driveway, shoveling the walkways and around the cars and salting. It's still sleeting, and I think there has been/will be some freezing rain mixed in there. The news is telling people to keep up with clearing it, as it will all flash-freeze into solid ice tonight. Ugh. VERY glad both our offices are closed tomorrow so we can get thawed out before Tuesday morning. I can hear sleet tapping on the window now. Feels good to be warm and cozy inside! But we'll go out again later in the afternoon to see if we can clean up a little further before the flash-freeze.

Good morning! Just drinking coffee and catching up with you all. DH is out snowplowing everyone out this am. I've already made a batch of cookies and have the Christmas music playing softly. It's lightly snowing here. It's getting windy and DH said its downright cold out. We got 9-10 inches and once the snow stopped, it changed to freezing rain, which I really didn't want the kids the kids to go out, but DH thought they would be okay doing so. They were outside maybe 15 minutes and they said between being cold and icy, they were coming in. Mom always knows!

I'm currently looking now for a good blueberry bread recipe and then going to put the soup on and throw a few dips in the crockpots for later to munch on, while we play board games and have football on.

Nothing else really planned for today. We're just going to stay in, keep warm and enjoy each other's company.

Hope you're all staying safe and warm! Happy Sunday!

Thinking of you guys, Merry! Hoping you guys keep power and stay warm. I'm so glad you won't have to go in to work tomorrow.

I want to share something with you guys that I typed up on Facebook this am - hope you don’t think I was being to blunt or harsh, but sometimes you have to be. :

Here’s something to think about this am: I keep reading about this snow storm being such a “disappointment”. I kind of feel like a major snow fall to us an equalizer (and probably not even compared to) because people lose their homes, lives, etc to tornadoes, floods, hurricanes - I say this because when I say major - I’m talking like several feet, the ones that cause power outages, sometimes flooding afterwards, so on, but in our neck of the woods rarely do we have weather that can compare. I understand people were excited for the snow and are let down by the weathermen. We got 9-10 inches at our house, but here’s my question to you. Think right now about the people right now up east in the New England States, who will lose power, that are getting so much snow, that they are saying is going to cause flooding, or our first responders that have to brave the cold and the roads - take for example the fireman that had to battle the fire all night last in the cold in Bedford County, just as some examples. I don’t know - call me crazy. The last couple of weeks have REALLY opened my eyes, really made me realize what really matters, who my true friends are, to remember to be thankful that things like the weather, especially our weather in Central Pa, we can be so thankful God is in control. We are so blessed with four seasons, but our seasons aren’t that bad! That is your food for thought on this Sunday morning as you and your family our cuddled, saying your prayers and thankful you’re all together! God Bless. ♥️
