********** TRAVEL ALERT **********

Well it's that time again, and the Crowns are off to the coast to begin the process of preparing the cottage for our 48th consecutive rental season.
This will be a short trip, and a countdown volunteer will only be needed for one morning, this Sunday.
Thanks in advance, whoever you are!

I would do it, but I have an inkling to break away even for an overnight.

Well, I've been busy continuing the loving task of promises made which included a few notifications.

Found two beautiful urns; I decided to keep some of his remains in one that has a cardinal perched on an off-white egg that will be sealed and set up on the memorial display table and will nest on my hutch before and after the event.
The other is a small wooden box with etched carvings that will hold the ashes to be scattered.

I met with my boss and told her I was thinking of returning tomorrow; she urged me to take the rest of the week off. As purpose driven as I am; she's right.

I stopped by the Christmas Store and bought three special gifts to help tell a few stories about the simple things he enjoyed at Christmas; ornaments I never saw in time to give him.

I'll visit with my dad a bit tomorrow before he heads out of town.

The venue I wanted isn't available; it's happening on the Canada Day long weekend so there are some weddings and things I may have to contend with.

I decided to have the gathering from 4:00-8:00 p.m. that way some of the immediate family can continue to celebrate his memory and make new ones together in private.

Oddly enough, returning his meds to the pharmacy for safe disposal and dropping the urns and marriage certificate off at the funeral home was as tough as it could be as I realize that our government will soon deem me a widow.

Number 1 son checked in with me an hour ago.

This song kicked shortly thereafter.

I'm trying to keep a merry thought in my head

Continued prayers and love being sent out for you and O'Malley, Auntie. {{{HUGS}}}

Good morning and Happy Pines Day! I'm off today and tomorrow - not much planned, except some housework. I have to go in for some testing today - I have had some issues with my thyroid in the past - have been on medicine on and off for the last few years. I’ve still be having issue with it, so they’re going to do an ultrasound today, to see if my thyroid it still the root cause. I’m hoping now that I’ve changed shifts, getting back to a normal sleep schedule, and adjusting my life back to normal health wise, my thyroid is just trying to adjust as well. We shall see!

Hope you’re all having a great mid-week day so far! Talk to you all later tonight!

Praying all will be well! xx

Brought my husband's remains home yesterday. I know some people believe you should have one final resting spot, but my husband wanted his ashes scattered in 4 different places. All of them except one are on crown land so it's no problem to honour his wishes. The other spot belongs to a relative in a rural community 40 minutes away where he spent many summers as a boy learning about life. I will have to contact them for permission to make that happen.

I'm not doing any of it until what would have been our anniversary in October, but perhaps I'll consider it sooner if I do it over Christmas in July because he supported me in my exchanges and gift-giving over the years and even set me up with the postal box which I have to visit today or tomorrow to change ownership since they hassled me a few times last Christmas season about picking up cards that weren't addressed to the owner.

I brought his remains home yesterday and wound up with three urns; one I am keeping, the other to hold the ashes to be scattered and the third I will offer to his ex-wife. We have become rather friendly over the years and even slept under the same roof on two different Christmases so the grandchildren could have an extra merry time.

O'Malley isn't meowing as much perhaps the smell from a few pieces of clothing is helping him.

When I was in the closet preparing a bag of nice clothes for the youth at the Crisis Centre, O'Malley kept calling, "Maaw". I placed the bag by the hallway entrance and O'Malley sniffed the bag and blocked the door. I kept two of my favourite tops that he wore that still smell like him.

Had my visit with my dad and told him about the call I had received that the two urns were too small to hold the remains so I had to find a larger one. The woman who was handling the paperwork and assisting the funeral director in gathering things held up a cake sized box and said, "This big at least". I guess the strength I was displaying made them think I was cold-hearted; that totally freaked me out because he was inside that box. Anger began to grow, but I didn't let it take hold. I thought to myself, "forgive her, she does not know what she did."

When I went to my dad's, I showed him the indigenous wooden box with strength symbols painted all over it that I picked out and told him how insensitive she was.

We had a good talk and a big hug; he heads out today for his trip.

When I returned home from the Crisis Centre drop off, there was a brief message on my answering machine, "Gary's remains are ready for pick up."

When I got into the car with his remains, I was a bit overcome with emotions and then Sirius 70's on 7 came to my rescue with BABE by Styx. As sad as that may sound, it gave me comfort to sing it.

I brought the urns home, set them up in three different places and O'Malley stopped whining. There's no way he could know what's in them.

I will be okay, but it was really hard sleeping last night.

Not having much luck with a venue for his celebration, hope to hear back from one today that allows you to bring in your own food.

Might have to settle for a church hall.

Thank y'all for your continued thoughts and prayers as I chuck along this unfamiliar track.

Happy Rudolph Day! -reindeer-

Happy Rudolph Day to you, Auntie. Sending love and hugs ~ {{{{HUGS}}}}

Happy Final Friday of April MMC! TGIF to one and all. It's been a fast week here. I feel like this week has been a blur but so has the month of April. We don't have the nicest weather set up today with some rain. And the weekend not a ton of sun but at least dry and decent on Saturday. Maybe showers again Sunday. I'm looking for some May flowers ahead of us. Have a great Final Friday of April!

Merry Friday MMC ~
Clouds and rain today with highs near 60 degrees. I’m just having my coffee and I’m working on a menu plan and grocery list for next week. My daughter is off from school & work again today. I’m going to follow her to the car dealer later this morning so she can drop her car off for an oil change. We’re going to do some shopping and grab lunch before we head back to get the car. I’m making beef stew for dinner and the Islanders are back in action tonight, round two begins. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a great day!!!
xx

Enjoy the day with your daughter. Good luck to NYI!

Good morning all! It’s finally Friday, it’s like Monday for me, since I’m working today, the weekend and work Monday as well, so I don’t have really any plans except for that.

I hope you all have a great day!!!

Special milestone day calls for a special song ...

I Feel the North Pole By: Shawna a.k.a. AuntieMistletoeDear (Based on the lyrics to I Feel The Earth Move performed by: Carol King.)

I feel the North Pole under my feet
I feel the frost nipping at my nose
I feel my Christmas Memories increasing
I feel my love for Christmas, I suppose
When the season rolls ‘round.

HoHo, Santa, when I see your chilly face
I start dreaming and wonderin’
‘Bout the joys that abound
Jolly as one with the reflective pace
And festive wonders found.

I feel the North Pole under my feet
I feel the frost nipping at my nose
I feel my Christmas Memories increasing
I feel my love for Christmas, I suppose
When the season rolls ‘round.

HoHo, Mr. C., I know you’re near me
When I hear you munching that special treat
I try and try, but I cannot sleep
Soon I’ll discover treasures around the tree
On Christmas Eve, I hear your footsteps creep.

I feel the North Pole under my feet
I feel the frost nipping at my nose
I feel my Christmas Memories increasing
I feel my love for Christmas, I suppose
When the season rolls ‘round.

I wake up Christmas Day
I get excited from head to toe
What awaits in my stocking
Will be a treasure comin’ my way
A puppy wearing a red velvet bow.

I feel the North Pole under my feet
I feel the frost nipping at my nose
I feel Christmas memories increasing
I feel my love for Christmas, I suppose
When the season rolls ‘round

I feel the North Pole under my feet
When the season rolls ‘round.

Keep a merry song in your head!

Good Morning, Milestoners!
Yep.
We have arrived at the first of a pair of back-to-back Milestone markers!
Details to follow the daily count presentation.

Days to the Season: 201
Days to Christmas Day: 243

As of TODAY, Folks. We have arrived at the ONE THIRD point to Christmas.
And TOMORROW, we reach the 200-Day Season Window and the start of a 100's level Season count.
(Oh, happy days!)

Speaking of happy days, it was happy around here weather-wise yesterday. A bit on the warm side as we climbed into the 80's, but it was not uncomfortable owing to the still-low humidity.
It was dry but that will not be the case today as we face the likelihood of thunderstorms by afternoon.
Our opening Weekend Eve temperature here in the state's center is 66 degrees under overcast skies and we have already had a brief, light rain.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
Enjoy your Milestone Day today and the anticipation of tomorrow's!
