Good morning all! It’s going to be a lovely day here - not weather wise, but for our family. DS makes his First Holy Communion at mass today. 20 or so of our family and our best friends are coming and then we are having a get together afterwards. We actually got together with this set of friends last night, so we moved the family night (food and board games) to tonight, so it will be a great day all around. I can’t wait to see my boy all dressed up in his suit!

Hope you all have a great day!
Our congregation moved First Communion to Maundy Thursday. It brought bittersweet warmth to the service.

Small World Dept: My sister - in - law is a lay minister at Penn State.

That’s awesome! We’re only about 45 minutes away from the main campus and just minutes from the Altoona campus. I’m a two time graduate also, but have bleed blue and white since the day I was born!

My dad converted after my parents were married for 20 years or so and that’s when they did his baptism. It was very meaningful and a very nice service.

Well, I didn’t get good news at the dentist. First off, the dentist is the one thing I hate literally more than anything. Anyway, I had my first cavity ever in 33 years last month. I had it filled and a week or so after that, I started having pain and it continued to have more and more, so I called last week about it. I didn’t have pain before at all with it. The dentist had noted a surface cavity and said he should fill it, before it got worse. I wasn’t due for x-rays yet, so none were done. Well needless to say, they did x-rays today and I have an abscess and need a root canal. I am just sick. He admitted he possibly didn’t go deep enough, but there is no way to know, since I didn’t have x-rays. I don’t fault my dentist. He’s been amazing with my son and was just trying to save me money, (since my insurance won’t cover the x-rays at the time) but it just stinks. I guess it’s the way it goes. I’m waiting for the oral surgeon to call me back - my dentist called and wanted me in right away, so hopefully they can get me in pretty quickly.

It will be okay. Root Canals are not enjoyable for sure, but it will be over in no time. The alternative is losing the tooth altogether. To paraphrase Auntie, just keep a jolly thought in your head while you are in the chair.

Thanks, HIS - I appreciate you saying so. He told me it wouldn’t be so bad either. It just stinks too, that I have to go to an office where I won’t know anyone, but I’m sure it will all work out in the end.

Oh I feel so bad for you. But, after it's all said and done, NO MORE PAIN! Praying for a quick recovery.

Thanks, Rich! I think my dentist just feels awful about it too. He’s already called to check on me and apologize, to see if I got an appointment with the oral surgeon. They were able to get me in on Thursday, which is great. I will only owe $52 appx. and we have an HSA, so we’ll just pay with that, thank goodness!

Ouch! I'm sorry you have to do that, but at least they're trying to get it done quickly.

Always good advice. :)

I've been lucky with my teeth aside from three cavities I got due to not seeing a dentist for three years during College. A root canal doesn't sound like fun, but at least you found out why you were having pain and they're trying to get it taken care of quickly.

HoHoHello,

I'm really tuckered today. Think it's the rain. I was driving and said to myself, "driver fatigue warning" because I don't have that feature in my car, I have to be alert enough to tell myself so I rolled down the windows and cranked the music up. Reminds me of when my dad used to sing show tunes on long drives to stay awake and I suppose for entertainment.

Took my car in for a quick check on the odd noise I was hearing and sure enough it's the carburetor; they'll fix me up next Tuesday and in the meantime I get to drive my husband's car. He said mine should be safe to drive, but I don't want to stress my Mojo. Poor car sounds like the "Little Engine that Could". Should only take an hour to repair/replace.

After June when I sell my husband's car to my oldest son, I won't have the good fortune to have an extra set of wheels to drive when the other car needs servicing.

Speaking of keeping a merry thought in your head - I was picking up some hand soap and noticed one called "Jingle Bells" - I always get a Christmas moment at least once during the day.

Hope you find some energy! Makes me think of when I was working nights - I used to find myself occasionally doing that myself. I would roll down the windows and turn up the music loudly, so I wouldn't fall asleep on the way home!

Happy Week Into May MMC! Get the feeling that May is going to fly? It already feels like it is. I always feel like we just run to Memorial Day in May. And then we're into summer and all getting excited about the Bers again. Just another day at work today. Have a great Week Into May!

I feel like I missed most of April; perhaps April missed out on me - haha. I can't say I regret any of it. So many moments to remember and I'm thankful I made the right decisions at the right time to put my husband first ahead of work and everything else.

Went to bed early lastnight. I couldn't keep my eyes open; I was rocking a bit in the recliner and my eyelids kept closing even between commercials so I headed to bed; missed The VOICE.

Had lots of dreams; woke up every couple of hours thinking it was almost time to get up and thankful I was able to go back to sleep because it was earlier than I thought.

Overall, a good nights sleep; hope I have better energy today - B12 don't fail me now.

No rain expected today; street sweepers were out trying to tackle the dusty sand all over the place.

Stay Jolly!

Oh no!! Sorry to hear this...I have had 2 root canals and they were not as bad as I anticipated at all. I hate the dentist too, even getting cleanings I grip the side of the chairs...lol Both times I had them by an endodontist. Good Luck!
