The weather has been crazy for the last couple of hours. Heavy run, storms, and several tornadoes. All is safe where I am, but just north of me a tornado hit a town, no word on casualties yet, but lots of damage though. Then, there were 3 other tornadoes south of me, again, lots of damage but no word on casualties.
It looks like the storms are moving out now. Nighttime tornadoes are do dangerous.
I hope everyone turns out to be ok and all of the damage is just to property, not people.

Scary stuff; we haven't had one in along time, but the damage done by the microburst 13 years ago is still fresh in my memory. Wooden fence was damaged and lots of limbs fell off trees around my place, but other parts of the city were hit pretty hard.

Lots of flooding going on here and I'm not sure if everyone will be able to fix the damage to their homes. One storage shed was carried away by the water because it was only standing on the ground; it wasn't secured to any depth of the ground - although it may not have helped in this case as the ground eroded.

A few back roads have been washed out and look like mini falls now.

Glad you're okay and hope there were no fatalities.

Well the tornadoes last night have made national news. Just on the north side of Dayton, OH the tornado was on the ground for about 40 minutes and covered an area of 20 miles. Several schools are closed, lots of damage to apartments, houses, businesses. I-75 was covered with debris and they used snow plows to clean it up. Power is out for thousands of people in the area. So far there are no reports of serious injury with that tornado, but...

Another tornado hit the city of Celina just a few minutes before the one that hit Dayton. That tornado leveled a section of Celina and there are 7 injuries, but luckily no fatalities with that one either.

Then, yet another tornado (yes, that makes 3 tornadoes) hit a more rural area just west of where I live. That one did not stay on the ground long and did not do much damage. A barn was destroyed along with several trees from that one.

More storms in the forecast this evening, tomorrow, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Flooding is no joke either. So far there has not been any mention of flooding issues here, but we had a flash flood warning last night too. We have had so much rain over the last few weeks and the rivers are quite high. With more rain in the forecast over the next several days, flooding remains a concern here too.

Back in 1999 I lived in Clarksville, Tennessee when a massive tornado ripped through the city. It happened before sunrise on January 22! I slept through the tornado and went it went 1 block from my house. I was in college at the time and much of campus was destroyed, the old downtown area was hit hard too. It took weeks to clean up that damage.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Back from the beach and back in action with our latest count numbers.
Here they are, complete and unredacted:
Days to the Season: 169
Days to Christmas Day: 211

The second number informs us that the 200-Day Christmas Day Window is now a scant 11 days away.
SINGLE DIGITS FROM THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW!
(So far, so fast, Folks!)

Special "Thanks!" to Minta for handling guest counting duties this time. Good job.

It was pretty warm at the coast but we had a breeze to help stay comfortable.
Will be going back one last time the weekend after next, before the first of our summer renters arrive on June 9.
Still rather warm here back home but the humidity is not too bad, especially in the evening.
Our opening temperature for the second day of the week is 72 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Fellow Travelers!

That is incredibly scary how so many tornadoes can hit in the same general area in such a short time period. I'm glad you are safe and that there have been no casualties.

Good Tuesday morning. Rain will be moving in later this morning. Of course when I work it's all sunshine and warm temperatures and when I have a day off, it's grey skies and rain. I read that this is what we should expect this Summer in our area: cooler temperatures until July at least, and more rain :( We'll go out grocery shopping in a few and then it's the usual routine of chores and laundry. Have a great day everyone!

Well this morning I went to the hospital to meet with some of the nurses and other staff who assisted my husband and other patients and families through their hospital stay; at least 35% of the patients were palliative in that section.

The CEO of the Foundation gave them an indication about the meeting, but they didn't know who it was regarding until they saw me. One of the staff who works the phone lines and other reception tasks came and gave me a hug and commented how well I looked. There were just over a dozen of them present and a General Manager for the hospital.

Nurse Shannon and I posed together with the others for a photo, but it was really about recognizing their efforts and professional fortitude.

I came to realize that although I thought this was part of a closure for me, it really felt more like a flower bloomed. My heart was as elated as I'm sure theirs were upon hearing my word of thanks and recognizing the angel who spent the last two nights of my husband's life with us. As it turns out she's married to the son of a friend of mine. I didn't know there was a connection there.

Went through the closet and still don't know what I'm wearing to the wedding. I'm not much of a dress person so I'm thinking I might just go with a white skirt and blouse.

O'Malley knows something is up; he'll get a better idea when I set up his second feeding and water station in the morning.

We didn't get any rain today, but they are expecting rain where I'm heading tomorrow. Thankfully, the wedding is inside the lodge, but it would be nice if the sun was out long enough for some outdoor photos. I just wrapped up their wedding gifts.

And since my US chums are celebrating a special long weekend, I thought I'd share this special thank you to Gary Sinise regarding his Foundation and the work he does in many places for men and women in the forces.

Keep a merry thought in your head

I'm glad your visit with the hospital staff went so well!

And yes, Gary Sinise is an awesome guy that's doing great work!

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I was sorry to hear about all of the tornadoes that @Iteachpercussion described above. Bless them!

It was so hot here. It was approximately 105°F yesterday, so I thought it would be a good idea to mow the lawn LOL. Then I got in the pool to vacuum, but spent more time floating, and wound up sunburned. I'm way too fair-skinned to get in the pool without sunscreen during the middle of the day. No matter how old I get, I don't always learn.

It's already 85° here, and going to 100° again. Whew! I'm ready for the 'Bers!!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Happy Tuesday! Back to work and it will be chilly out but that's ok...looks like we are back into the warmer weather at the end of the week. Hope you all have a great day!
I'd give ANYTHING for chilly right now! Lucky you!!

Thinking of you all and praying for your safety and property! Please keep us updated, when you're able!

Good morning all! We had a hot but fun weekend with my son visiting for the last four days. It was so good to spend time with him again. We're at 80F right now heading to 96F today. I'm glad I work inside an air conditioned office. Stay safe @Iteachpercussion and everyone else in the path of all the storms this week.

Thanks for updating. Thankfully there have been no loss of life reported. I'll continue to pray for this. Tornadoes, like you said, can be so incredibly devastating.

I've had the same luck last summer and so far this spring, I'm having the same!

Try to stay cool, my friend! I tan easily with my Italian olive skin, but I find as I get older, I am more susceptible to burn easier now. Put that sunscreen on! Don't want to chance it and risk your chance of cancer (it's the nurse coming out in me!) Haha
