The year is going by very fast! How is your garden doing? We've had way too much rain and it is forecast at 40 - 50 percent chances for more the next several days. My garden vegetables and trees don't look as happy as I was hoping they would, but the weeds are ecstatic. I pull what I can, but the mosquitoes are so many and so vicious that I can't stay out for more than a few minutes a day.

You'll have to hire some bats to handle the mosquitoes.

Happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian friends!! Quick question for anyone in Canada: are any of you familiar with a band from Canada called Blue Rodeo?

Yes. They're a country/rock band.

I saw Jim Cuddy (leader of the group) at the Old Mill in Toronto performing mainly on his own as part of a fundraising gala for the musicians benevolent fund.

I'm not a huge fan, but listen to them now and then. They've won quite a number of Canadian Music Awards. They've been around since the mid-80's.

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well. For the first time ever, I watched the CIJ on QVC yesterday. Although, I realized quite quickly that I had to record it and then watch it on my own so I can fast forward through a lot of it. I'm sorry, but spending 25 minutes talking about a brownie or a cookie is a bit excessive! There are only so many adjectives you can use!! I did make a few small purchases though. It was nice to see some Christmas stuff; even if it was 89 degrees out! Today was a favorite of mine because our local Ballet company put their Nutcracker tickets on sale this morning at 10:00am. I always have it marked in my phone. What I don't like though, is that when I log on, immediately the first 9 or 10 rows are already sold out so they must do Pre-sales to "VIP" people, and clearly I am not "VIP" to them! I did get us tickets though. It is a tradition for us; one of my favorites. Problem is, my husband is getting laid off from his job in September (which is awful, he has been there 10 years and now they are shipping his job and about 50 others overseas) so hopefully he will have a new job by Christmas. Problem is, I don't know what his new job schedule would be; so he may not be able to go for the date I bought the tickets. If he can't go, I'll drag someone else with me and get tickets for me and him. It wouldn't be Christmas without "dragging" my hubby to the ballet with me; and if I get to go twice this year then that is just a bonus!

That's stressful, hope it all works out.

I have been obsessed with them for the last 20 years! I was lucky to see them in maybe 2000 or 2001 in Cleveland, OH but they don't seem to come down to the states very often. I think they are great though and listen to them just about every day. Last year, or the year before, they put out kind of a "Christmas" album with non-traditional Christmas songs on it. I would listen to them sing the phone book though!

There are a few songs of theirs that I really love. Canadian bands such as Blue Rodeo really benefited from radios having to broadcast a percentage of Canadian content and with the launch of MuchMusic in the 80s. Since then they’ve been working hard but unless you listen to rock radio stations, you don’t hear the much.

I think everybody should hear them! I never get to hear them down here on the radio, but a few years ago my husband and I were in the casino at Niagara Falls and there was a band playing and they were covering a Blue Rodeo song and I got so excited!!

Well then here's a merry treat for your ears.

Jim Cuddy seems like a cool guy and was admired by the other musicians at the event I attended.

Up and at it early, but cat let me sleep in until 4:30 - haha

Pretty good sleep lastnigt; I was tired from the closet organizing and such - as it turns out, I have oodles of Christmas gift wrap rolls, 1 larger box of Christmas cards, 2 smaller sets, I need to get another tote to add more Christmas items that I picked up when I was in Huntsville, but currently have enough ornaments, etc. to make several people jolly for the next 2-3 years.

Sadly, I lost most of my photos that were stored on a USB stick drive that malfunctioned so I may not be able to include festive photos like I have in the past, but I'll figure something out.

Trying to connect with a handyman to fix the shower plunger gadget that switches from tub to shower output as it almost came right out of the holder so I forced it back in and have to settle for a bath for a few days. I think I'll shower at the fitness centre across the street for a few days - baths sort of gross me out. Sure they can be relaxing, but I would have a quick rinse of the shower if I had a bath - 'cause I don't like soaking in my own dirt.

When we lived up the North highway between homes, I liked that old fashioned tub and would play classical music and relax in it when nobody else was home, except my good ol' chum, Ragmop.

That was 3-4 months of somewhat rural luxury we had a tree trimming party that Christmas and some of my parents friends left with real trees attached to their vehicles to decorate their homes.

The music option was the room you were in or piped through several speakers around the house.

Keep sweet memories in your head! :blinky:

Happy 2nd Half of the Year MMC! The better half as we say around these parts. Lots of people are taking off part or all of this week. It's a little quieter around the building at work than usual. Some are taking off next week though. Ahh summer. That's what it's about isn't it? Making our own childhood summer break. Have a great beginning to the 2nd Half of the Year!

Good morning ~
We’re going to have sun and clouds today with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. I’m heading out soon to do some food shopping. Back home afterward to work on my daily chores. I also have plans to visit my parents this afternoon. I’m going to grill chicken & vegetable kebabs for dinner. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
xx

You are a woman after my own heart Auntie! I am not a bath fan either - my husband can sit in a bath for hours - I have absolutely no idea how. I dont like the thought of stewing in my own dirt and soap suds either! My 8 year old daughter in the same though adn will have the smallest bath ever to literally wash and jump out again and my son prefers showers too!

Well weather here is lovely! I am off to tackle some more of the brambles today to try and get them gone. We pulled up a path a few years back and have all the big slabs so I am hoping once I have cut back the brambles to lay down a liner or some black bags and the slabs to make a mini patio so I can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Apart from that a nice quiet day! done some competitions and now off to package some bits up that I have sold on Ebay so happy days!

Good Morning, Folks.

Here we are again.
Day after day. Month after month. Season after Season.
When will it all end?
(Never, I hope!!)

Today's figures, for your reading pleasure and enlightenment :
Days to the Season: 134
Days to Christmas Day: 176

And for further enlightenment, consider the latest Milestone news:
The 2/3 point to the Season is now a scant 12 days into the future.
(Do you realize that's practically down to SINGLE DIGITS? Zounds!)

We have been in an interesting weather pattern the last few days. Extremely warm and humid late mornings and afternoons but rather comfortable early evenings, with a noticeable humidity drop.
Today shows an expected high of 95 with 97 predicted for tomorrow. Little chance of rain today but a 40 percent chance tomorrow.
Currently, we are standing at 75 here in mid-state.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Friends!

Happy Tuesday!!
Tonight my youngest daughter has her championship softball game. If they win this, they move onto the sectionals. Typical work day for me...I have Friday off so I am trying to get everything wrapped up before then...hope you all have a great day!

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

I spent yesterday afternoon vacuuming the crazy pool, and again at daylight this morning, but it's looking much better now. We're supposed to leave for vacation this week, but I have to have it ready for our niece and her boys LOL.

Lulu has hurt herself, I think from jumping off the bed or the sofa. She's obviously in pain, but she walks well, so I don't think anything's broken. She just can't jump up on the sofa or in your lap, as usual. I think maybe she just strained a muscle...I hope. We're going to the vet this afternoon.

I hope y'all have a great day! :)

Hello all!

Wow the heat is sticking around. Today is adding a bunch of humidity. It is really nasty outside.

I wish I could stay in all done, but I have HS football practice this evening. I was able to get the grass mowed yesterday morning before it got too hot. Not much really going on most of the day. Henry has is physical appointment today for football.

I hope everyone has a great day! Stay cool.
