Good morning all.

The heat has cranked back up and we are expecting some storms later today. Other than that, not much going on today.

MIL update: I have not updated much because there was little to say. However, she was taken back to ICU 3 days ago due to ammonia levels being way to high and more unresponsiveness. They started running some more tests but we have not heard all of the results. It looks as though, on top of other issues, that she may have had 2 small strokes. There are also looking into the possibility of blockages or damage to her intestines. Overall, after it looked like there were a few steps forward, she has moved backwards. There is no current timeline on moving back out of ICU. It looks like they are trying to get a handle on exactly what is the root cause of everything at this point.

I’m keeping your mother-in-law in my thoughts and sending her strength.

Good Morning, One Week Plus One Day'ers!
Yep. A week and a day. That's what separates us from our next scheduled Milestone marker.
Details to follow.

Days to the Season: 130
Days to Christmas Day: 172

And, as alluded to above, we are now down to 8 days to the 2/3 point to Christmas Season 2019.
(With most of our journey behind us, things are just starting to become interesting!)

Not quite as hot yesterday, especially by the evening, when it almost became comfortable.
Today comes with a 50/50 shot at rain and a predicted high of 92.
Right now, we perceive 75 degrees here on our back-of-the-house thermometer.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Folks!
Thanks Crown! Happy 1st Weekend of July!

Good Saturday late morning! The heat and humidity is sticking around again today. We just had some strong rain but that just made things muggier. I have an unexpected day off to make up for going in last Saturday to help a colleague. Later this afternoon I’ll attend a party for a former employee who had a tracheotomy following a cancer diagnosis last year. The latest tests show that she is now cancer-free and her daughter is throwing her a surprise party to bring her love and support. I won’t stay long, I’m not a party person to begin with and I don’t do well in social situations where I don’t know anyone. It’ll be just to see her and give her a big hug from everyone on our team. Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!

Happy Saturday all. The heat is on again with a sweltering 30C (86F) with the humidex making it feel like 39C (102F). Needless to say I'm spending most of my time inside air conditioned spaces. Yesterday I gladly spent a couple of hours in the freezer at work, organizing, and setting up for the week. It was lovely.

I listen to a few Christmas podcasts and as I'm sure some of you do as well. One is called Christmas Past, and they are having a cookie swap this month, being Christmas in July. The only drawback is that only the members in the US can swap. The host didn't want to complicate things with making it international. And postal can be a bit pricey when you're sending out of country. So another member and I set up our own swap because we're only a couple of hours away from each other. I've spent my afternoon baking up some Christmas favourites: monster chocolate chip cookies, maple and brown sugar Rice Krispie treats, and vegan coconut macaroons. I may make snowballs too if I have time. I'm a little wary about the snowballs though as they are best kept cold.

And because of this time of year, yesterday I watched Frosty and Rudolph's Christmas in July. As good as I remembered.

Only one week until my vacation! Have a great weekend all.

Good Morning MMC !

The heat here is more than I am used to, at work yesterday I started getting sick and then lightheaded had to sit in the office for about half an hour and then they put me to Work loading up the freezer for a bit because I was so overheated. Felt better after that but by the end of my shift I was back to feeling rotten again so I just booked off today cuz it's supposed to be just as hot. Yes the store has AC, but for some reason the fans had been shut off. Already 28c (84f) with even more humidity because it rained a bit last night.
Temps should be going to down to a dull roar by the end of the weekend, but still hot. I have never had that happen to me before, must be getting old or something.

I do have to go to an out of town appointment today, but my van has excellent Ac and will only be out long enough to run into a building.

Hope you all have a great day !!! Keep Cool

I've had a few days like that too recently, but given how hot it's been in your neck of the woods, I think it make sense that you would feel lightheaded. I don't see why anyone with AC available would have it turned off - you are entitled to work in safe conditions - I'm guessing you have a Health and Safety committee or something similar at your work place, turn to them if the environment isn't safe whether it's heat or cold related.

Keeping good thoughts for her; I'm sure she's in good hands.

So sorry to hear about the set back. I’ll continue to pray for your MIL and your family, ITP.

Hey, friends! Hope all is well. We arrived home from brother's house and the 4th celebration was great. Much needed time out of town and with phone turned off.

Can't believe that we are 30 days from double digits. When we get there, time will just fly by....

I. CAN'T. WAIT.

So glad to hear you guys had a great time!

Good evening all! Hope you’re all having a great day! Just getting ready to eat a late dinner here and head to bed in a little. I’ll work again tomorrow, so no real plans for me. Hope you all are enjoy the weekend!

Speaking of stamina ... 16 years ago this weekend, my dad received the news that he had cancer; a gigantic golf ball size tumour on the base of his tongue and a smaller one on his larnyx (near the voice box). The early diagnosis wasn't good and we feared the worst although kept hope that everything would work out. It was a few days before Christmas of that year, when I made my way to my first ever Christmas forum to share a miracle story of how my dad beat the odds and now all those many years later, I have found a merry family of Christmas wackos to chat with all year.

Not only did the doctors not have to remove his tongue, he wound up being able to sing in a Christmas performance at a local church with the choral society back in 2013. Although my dad can't consume food or beverages because he has no saliva glands left to help him swallow (he has a g-tube and receives nutrients similar to what astronauts consume in space), he lives a regular life.

If you or your loved ones are battling cancer; remember the statistics they talk about are meant for the medical profession, not for patients and family to consider.
