Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!! We got the call last night that my cousin lost her battle with cancer yesterday and that my great uncle wasn’t handling his 2nd round of chemo very well. So it’s been a solemn kinda day here. I’m getting ready to kick back and enjoy the new hallmark movie though while doing some Christmas shopping online.
So sorry to hear this Made. Praying for you and your family.

I've made up my mind to get out my nativity set and put it up tomorrow! Can it ever be too early to look at the beautiful nativity? I've also decided to get a small, real, table top tree. I think they sell them at Home Depot at around Thanksgiving. I know the big ones come out on the Friday after TG but when I was decorating I remember the small ones coming in earlier. I miss the smell of a Christmas tree. Last year I had a rosemary plant and I decorated it for Christmas. Since I gave away all my Christmas decorations, I'll just buy a nice string of lights and a few keepsake ornaments to pass down to friends and relatives.

I started collecting my nativity figures about 20 years ago. I usually bought about 4 or 5 figures every year after I bought the manger and the Holy Family. It just grew.

When I sold my big house and moved to my retirement condo, the display was too large to put in one place. Now that I have a larger condo, it'll fit. The wisemen/camels will have to be mounted on the wall making their way to the rest of the display. I usually look for some pine branches to decorate the back of the manger.

This is some of it.View attachment 65107
Beautiful! And never too early. ;)

Good Sunday morning!
I'm up a little early (because of the time change). Michelle and I went to a Fall Festival yesterday and did some shopping around town. Below are a couple of Christmas decorations we bought.

Good Morning, Seasoned Celebrators!
And there is plenty to celebrate as we rapidly narrow the slim gap between us and the beginning of Christmas Season 2019.

The figures, to commence the second half of our weekend:
Days to the Season: 10 (TOMORROW = SINGLE DIGITS!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 25 (Just over 3 1/2 weeks!)
Days to Christmas Day: 52 (Now under 7 1/2 weeks remain!)
Yep. That gap is definitely narrowing!

Not too bad yesterday, with highs in the 60's under sunny skies. No rain.
Today will see us to 60 before we drop almost to the freezing mark tonight.
Our current thermometer reading is 40 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Super Sunday, Everyone!
I hope everyone's NFL team of choice proves victorious today.......um, except for the Titans, who are playing my Panthers!

Well, the tree is done. I'm sitting here....basking in its glow. We got it done, cooked, started watching Polar Express...and the girls passed out. Know what that means?

It means that when I got up at 5:00 to go out for a fire and coffee...well, Daylight Savings Time had two little ones waiting to get out of bed.

It's going to be a long day!

Got all of our Department 56 North Pole Houses out and put on the disp

We've been decorating all weekend so far! How about you guys? Our tree was officially lit on November 1st, and yesterday i started putting up the outside decorations and lights. I will finish those up hopefully this afternoon, and my wife is decorating inside! Putting out Christmas tablecloths and what not, etc.. And the best part is that she is making us a sort of mini Christmas/Thanksgiving dinner tonight as a "test" before needing to do it for a real in a few weeks. We are trying a new turkey recipe, and making mashed potatoes and green bean casserole!

Ooooh I am excited just reading about other people putting up their tree and decorating! Hope you can both share pictures at some point. Enjoy the sights of Christmas!

Good Sunday morning! I actually managed an extra hour of sleep (well I don’t sleep soundly through the night so I managed to stay in bed and sleep on and off for that extra hour). Got some laundry done and need to go grocery shopping in a few. We also need to get Loki a new sweater because his old one is all stretched out. Then we’ll have more laundry to do and the usual chores after that. Later tonight we’re taking my in-laws out to dinner. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning all!

Yesterday we were able to get the Christmas season rolling. We went to a tree farm and tagged our tree that we will cut down after Thanksgiving.
In the evening we took down all of the inside Halloween decor and then put up the Christmas decor in the living room. We have one tree up, my wife's white tree. While decorating we watched three Christmas movies, had a lovely fire, and drank eggnog. It was a wonderful time.
Today, I still need to put up my village and wrap-up a few other small odds and ends. Throughout the week and next weekend we will put up probably another two trees. Hopefully the weather cooperates next weekend and we can get the outside lights and such up.

It is so wonderful that the season has begun!

Good morning ....

Heading outside soon to take down the halloween decorations and to put up the fall garland, orange light and our inflatable Mr. Turkey. Will get the inside Halloween decorations pack up later today. Plan on spending the afternoon roasting a chicken, watching Christmas movies and baking cookies later tonight.
One of the local churches already started getting their outside Christmas lights and decorations up. A few houses in the area who really go all out with Christmas decorating have already started although they do not turn on the lights until Thanksgiving night. Have a great day!

I'm so sorry for your loss and continue to pray for your uncle as well as your cousin's family.

This is so amazing. You have the exact same nativity set that I do! I don't have as many of the little animal figurines that you do, but all of the others are the same!

I love the Fontanini collection. The best part is that they look so real but are very durable and practically indestructible. I ended up getting the 7.5 inch set. I'm glad I didn't go larger because I'd have no place for them. I made the mistake of getting the collector's book so every year there would be new ones out and they were just so pretty I couldn't help myself.

Sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace. Prayers for your great uncle, may he respond to the chemo.

Prayers and comfort on the passing of your cousin and for your uncle who is still fighting the battle.

So sorry to hear this Made. Praying for you and your family.

Happy 25-hour Day!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far. My dad is still here today. He's already heading back tomorrow. It's only been a quick visit, but we did a few fun things. The good part is that I'll be seeing him again in just over a month for CHRISTMAS. :)

Well, it's time to watch some football and do some homework.

Have a great day!
