:owlHappy Sense of Festive Achievements Saturday ::wave

Presents are wrapped and ready. Cards for Operation Christmas Cheer are underway. I need to add my cards to the cookies/chocolates/fudge for the local EMS teams; dropping off a few toys, games and books to the LIPI (Low Income People Involvement) Christmas Drive taking place at my bank.

Had fun at the holiday social. I wore a shiny black velour top with a festive broad felt tie with tiny pom-pom ornaments and bells on it and a green skirt with multi-coloured Christmas lights wrapped all around it in two rows and tiny red pom-poms as a hem. I had red fluffy leggings that met with the bottom of the skirt. I also wore a red, black, green and gold fedora.

While I was getting ready, O'Malley was meowing up a storm from the his resting spot at the entranceway, I told him to come down to see what I was doing, but he didn't. When I was passing by in the hallway, O'Malley softly reached out and touched my shaggy red legs and patted me with his paw. Wonder what was running through his mind.

I managed to dance and sing for a few hours with only a few coughing spells between songs. There were under 50 of us which is the smallest gathering we've ever had. We made it fun though.

One of the local radio stations crashed our party (four people invited them) and at first I didn't recognize who they were and wondered which department these five new employees came from because two of them looked familiar, but I couldn't place them in the workplace. HaHa.

I won a gift card to one of our oldest Italian Restaurants for my outfit and dance moves.

HoHoHo! -santa dance-
God bless you for all you do for others. Sometimes I get exhausted from reading your posts, you do so much! Mostly, I'm in awe of you.

Man, oh man. Where has the last month gone? Seems like last week we were kicking off the season and now we are 10 days away from my favorite day of the year! Things are busy for me. I hate that I don't check in much during the season, but I just get busy doing family things. I know y'all understand. Gotta go and try go get caught up. Hope to see you tomorrow morning for coffee.

While I was at the party, a few of people had side-bar chats with me acknowledging that this will be a difficult Christmas without my husband. They also appreciated how I share what I'm experiencing and my jovial attitude to continue living life fully. None of them upset me; I understand my reality. Acceptance is refreshing; my love is stronger than his death and my desire to continue to be the ME that Gary loved comes naturally.

The last three years between November and February, my husband spent more time in bed than he did with me. He didn't participate in the last Christmas with my mom because he couldn't make it down the stairs and the Christmas before that he only came over on Christmas morning. The Christmas season has always meant more to me than it did to him. He was amused by my child-like heart that had to watch animated Christmas specials and my choice of gifts for children and family on my gift list and appreciated that I showed him what I bought after the fact, but didn't attempt to drag him out to go shopping with me.

I think about him daily; something always seems to pop up, but I accept it; welcome it and carry on with life. His departure from my physical world, doesn't put an end to the memories or my jolly ways.

I actually find myself missing my mom this year even more than last year which was our first Christmas season without her. She was the designer of the merry transformation at their place and my dad will set up the tree and a few decorations, but it's never quite the same. Not worse, just different. At least he has agreed to celebrate it with additional guests this year. He knows how important it is to me so he will do whatever it takes to make sure I have a joyful yuletide.

Last year was our first Christmas without Dad. Surprisingly, it wasn't that bad. However, this year has already been harder.

Good afternoon all!
Just got back from some more Christmas shopping. Trying to watch the Army/Navy game and being disappointed by how Army's defense is playing. Hoping Army can turn things around. Go Army!

Still hoping for some snow tomorrow night into Monday. They keep solidifying the forecast and it seems the snow is more and more likely!

Well said! And I'd like to second that. I too am in awe of AuntieMistletoeDear.

I'd like to third that. And as MerryCarey posted, I too am in awe of AuntieMistletoeDear.

Well now, Auntie! You didn't tell me your cat has opened his own pub.
And with a Christmas garland, no less!

I understand how you feel! It feels like i am much more active, etc, when we are counting down the days / milestones, etc., and now that Christmas season is here, i kind of just lurk in the background!

Wow; thank you. I am exhausted from the searching, but I know it will bring a smile to the face of a child or an unexpected individual working in a helping profession who is having a horrible day and giving up time with family so other peoples families can be cared for or kept safe.

As a matter of fact, I have a lottery dream book from years back that includes O'Malley's the Chat and Chew Place.

With Ragmop's Den for live music.

Thanks for sharing.

Good Morning, Folks!

Back in action after a visit to Charlotte to see my niece's husband graduate from UNC-Charlotte and visit with my 10-month-old great nephew.

And another heart-felt THANKS to our own Edge for taking over the count yesterday morning!

But just look at our remaining count data!
Days to Christmas Day: 10 (SINGLE DIGITS FROM TOMORROW!!)
Holy Holly and Mistletoe, Batman!

Cold and rainy for the entire trip to Charlotte Friday, with highs in the mid 30's. Better for the return trip yesterday. It was still cloudy but no rain fell and it was about ten degrees warmer.
Today will see us in the upper 50's, with mid 60's for tomorrow and Tuesday. No rain is predicted for either day.
We commence this second half of the weekend at 39 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Super Sunday, Everybody and good luck with your NFL team of choice, today!
