Hey Crown!

Been listening to Django. My goodness, what a talent...I swear, if someone asked me tonight, right now...who was my favorite ? I would say, without a doubt...DJANGO REINHARDT! But, being the fickle fan of good music that I am, it can change with the Michigan weather....Could be Mother Maybelle, or Flatt and Scruggs or Beethoven....or Steve Forsberg....

I feel I should get in on this thread.

So... what's the decorum? :)

Really? Wow. So, every day someone posts the new number of days until Christmas, ooooor what?

Good Mmmmmmmorning Everyone !

Mrs. Eagle and I are officially back from our trip to Indiana. Met some nice people down there. I think everyone there grows corn or soybeans, even in small backyard gardens.
It's nice to be home !!!

The weather here is . . . . just a second, I'm checking . . . . . 75F and sunny. So far. It rained most of the night, so the air smells nice this morning. I just hope it stays this way today.

My suggested song for today is in two parts:
For all of us in the warmer weather: A theme from The Year without Santa - Mr. Snow Miser
For all of us in the cooler weather: A theme from The Year without Santa - Mr. Heat Miser

No Christmas song collection is complete without these two songs.

Watch the heat everyone. Stay hydrated, drink plenty of liquids: iced coffee (or iced tea) , maybe even some water. Stay healthy, Christmas is coming.

Stay safe - stay cool.

Don't know why, Iron, but I love it when you refer to your wife as "Mrs. Eagle". It always makes me smile.

93 days to the Season. (The 3/4 mark to the Season arrives on Tuesday!)
135 days to Christmas Day.

MUCH better weather yesterday. A high of only 85 compared to 104 on Friday.
Now THAT's a change for the better. Supposed to be nice again today, too.

Hey, Cedar! I didn't see any big band leaders on your list of favorites.
Where is Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Crosby, Les Brown, Count Basie, Harry James, Glen Gray, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Charlie Barnet?

Well, I spent a fruitless morning yesterday trying to access the high-beam indicator lightbulb behind my Crown Vic's dash. Everything was too tight to get my hands past to go in from underneath (and I have very small hands) and I could not come in from the front since the screws were frozen in place after 22 years. I dared not apply much force as the plastic is brittle after all this time and I did not want to crack the instrument board. All this over a 50-cent light bulb that has nothing to do with the safety of driving the car. SIGH!

Well until I can figure something else out, I'll be driving illegally, I guess.

Have a Super Sunday, my friends!

Our post count is tied again, Cedar.

Good Sunday Morning Friends!!!

Woke up to a good old-fashioned summer thunderstorm...love hearing that! It didn't cool off though, still the three H's here.

Crown: Duke, Artie, Benny!!! The best!

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Hey Cedar- weird- I justheard Beethoven's Fifth here yesterday- heard it ont he student run station-w hich broadcasts classical- usually Opera on Saturday nights- nice to listen to if you are out late- driving home from getting coffee somewhere..... Of course youmust stay up late and not be in bed by 7:00PM to hear it.. so that knocks some people out of the loop.....

Crown- tried on line anywhere for advice onthe lite bulb?

This thread is oddly reminiscent of the Christmas.com forum's one, what with the Opera and all... :p

boy this Opera stuff is getting harder and harder.....

:hello: Really a fine Opera, lovely. Brava and Bravo and bravissimo!

Me thinks you want to re-write at least one scene. Something's wrong.

Something's missing. What could it be? Who could it be?

I'll let you mull it over.

:tree: A few Christmas items are still visible here and there. The grandkids kept their music boxes out since they got them and I saw a gift box of ornaments that were from a door prize at a Christmas in July party.

I managed to sneak onto the computer for a wee bit.

Dinner will be ready soon. Smells great doesn't it? Ummmmmmmmm. Spaghetti and meat sauce. Yummy garlic bread. Ummmm.

I'll try to check back in later tonight or tomorrow.

Think happy thoughts, think stockings hung by the chimney with care.

Went out to Garden Ridge yesterday- they are full tilt stocking their Christmas display ( which is huge and takes at least two months...)- Aisles were clogged with merchandise and shelves were cleared to make room. Theya lso had trees up ( not decorated yet though)-

Also Saw a great recliner- nice- big- leather- great sleeping chair Crown.....

Hello my fine friends!!!

The Mrs. and I took a trip west this afternoon to Marshalls Creek, PA. There is a store out there call The Christmas Factory that has a huge selection...We spent almost two hours there...It was a nice dose of Christmas on a hot August Sunday...Also went to see The Moody Blues on Friday night and they played a song from their Album, December. In fact that may have been the song...But it was really cool to be in a concert hall watching a band play a Christmas song in August and have such a huge ovation when they were done...For a while...all 5000 or so of us were in the Christmas spirit!!!

All in all, a great weekend...Back to the grind tomorrow...But wait!!! Crown reminds us that we will be 3/4 of the way on our journey...Now how cool is that!!!

I wanted to say too...That I'm warmed beyond words by the way that the good folks at MyMerryChristmas.com have embraced we Christmtas.com, TheXmasPlace.com refugees...And also the way that so many of the members of those sites have tried to assimilate here...We're a good bunch we Christmas nuts...If I do say so myself...And I do!

Bless you all!

Jay

Hi Everyone,
Couldn't agree with you more Jayish. I'm glad to be amoung my fellow Christmas lover nuts once again. I felt bad that I just joined up here late last week and then my family and I were out of town since Friday taking a mini trip to the Olympic Penninsula to see the Makah Indian Museum at Neah Bay. Saw lots of deer and wildlife and enjoyed the water some too.
I see so many familiar posters here and lots of new ones for me to get to know. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

What do you say, Bing? A year's supply of coffee for that recliner?

92 days to the Season. (The 3/4 mark to the Season arrives tomorrow!)
134 days to Christmas Day.

A much nicer weekend. The weather was kinder. No 100 + days.
I notice a new tropical system has formed in the far eastern Atlantic. Possibly our first hurricane?

Have not tried the internet on the bulb issue, Bing.
Might be worth a shot. Thanks.

Have a Marvelous Monday, friends.

:hello: Greetings Christmas wackos!

Crown, I hope Carl didn't take it too bad about being left out of the latest opera. Really, I know how he gets sometimes.

:tree: Guess what? I watched Christmas with the Krank's lastnight. I didn't like it until the last half hour. The music was a bit different though.

This morning I drank coffee out of a Santa mug.

Gotta scoot though, time to play with the Hot Wheels terradactyl race track. Yes, I'll share with the grandson.

Have a grrreat day. Not sure if I'll get back this way again before I return home. I'll try. You might have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday.

Have a little Christmas thought, it might just cool you off.
