Perfect! I return to work next Monday, so having the 300 day milestone will give me a major boost that day. Additionally, I love the weekly counts to October and Halloween! 39 weeks really doesn't sound that bad!

On Friday, January 1st, not only will we celebrate finally making it to the new year, but we will also celebrate the fact that we will be ONE QUARTER of the way to October 2021!!! It just doesn't seem possible that we've already gotten through such a big chunk, but that my friends is the beauty of these last 3 "bonus months"
Seeing Valentine's day candy out in the stores here made my mind naturally gravitate towards Halloween and Christmas. I love looking at the packaging of the individually wrapped Candies.

These bonus months have been swell. Being able to start a countdown at anything less than 365 days is always a blessing, and the fact that on January 1st we'll already be 1/4th of the way to October has me downright giddy. Of course it happens this way every year, but you never really think about it in those terms unless you follow the countdown!
Amazing and in a way scary at the same time. I never really realized how fast life goes by when so much of my time is spent dreaming and wishing for countdowns, milestone days, etc. I never used to count down to THE BERS before last year. Now as I dive into our exact position in the year at any given point, it is really amazing, this wheel of time. I know we aren't supposed to wish our lives away. But if that's really what we are doing counting down to the best parts of the year, then I can't imagine a better way of wishing away time. I also feel that I can enjoy every minute that life gives me, but still keep that special part of my heart/mind that wishes for our beloved holidays!

Man, today is just like the perfect Fall day outside. It's 66 degrees and completely overcast. Of course it's because there's a cold front moving in and we're about to get a deluge of rain, but it's making me long for Halloween season something fierce.
(Unfortunately my wife put up the Valentine's decorations last night, which severely hampers how "spooky" it can really be...)

Happy New Year Folks! Are you ready for 2021? I sure am. And I hope you're ready to celebrate milestone days, and get our first taste of Halloween this month, because that's what January is all about.
First thing is first, TODAY marks ONE QUARTER of the way to October 1st!! So just like that, we hit a major milestone and can already look to the next one.
On Monday, January 4th, we will celebrate 300 Days to Halloween.
On Wednesday, January 20th, we will celebrate 100 Days to Halfoween!
On Friday, January 22nd, we will celebrate 250 Days to October 1st
And last but certainly not least, we are going to close out January in terrific fashion with our first Jack O Lantern Day of 2021, on Sunday, January 31st. That day is going to be special for many of us here, but don't forget that it also will mark the ONE QUARTER OF THE WAY TO HALLOWEEN.
Feel free to watch those, or watch your own movies that you feel work best to capture that special Octoberish feeling. For us, Harry Potter is just about as Halloween as you can get, especially considering the outstanding promotion/marketing Syfy does during the month of September to promote it. Throughout the season, I will be doing a mix of family-friendly films as well as films for an older audience, to try and cover all of our bases just like the big TV networks do!
The electric Jack O Lantern will also be dusted off, and I'll be firing up those pumpkin scented candles.
So that concludes my New Year's Day post. January is going to be a lot of fun, I hope.

**JACK O LANTERN DAY #1 ANNOUNCEMENT**
Our very first Jack O Lantern Day of 2021 happens to fall on a Sunday, which I think is awesome. To commemorate that, I will be doing our own version of "Dark Arts Sunday" by watching the first two Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Feel free to watch those, or watch your own movies that you feel work best to capture that special Octoberish feeling.
