It did feel like a short summer, but that's because I no longer equate August with summer in my mind, although it still very much is summer. August will always be "Fall preseason" to me now, and considering how much Fall and Halloween stuff I had already seen on shelves even before August 1st, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I think my "goalposts" get shorter every year. I used to think (a long time ago), "I can't wait to make it back to the Christmas season." Then it was "I can't wait to make it back to October." Then September. Then August. And these days it's like anything after July 4th is exciting.

With a record-breaking 24 days of 100 degrees or hotter so far, it hasn't felt like a short summer. It has been a summer where I have frequently thanked the Good Lord for the blessing of air conditioning.
You've had a scorcher this year. We've only been at 100F or hotter for 7 days.

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 8
DAYS TO THE BERS: 9
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 39
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 69

Good Morning Halloween Friends! At long last we are finally down in single digits on our way down to The Bers. The rest of the counts have flipped too, pretty snazzy this morning to see a 30's count on our way to October.

I had to go to Lowes yesterday to buy some caulk and I was overjoyed coming through the front doors and seeing all of the Halloween stuff! It's still exciting to see a place like Michaels' or Hobby Lobby put out Fall decorations, but seeing them in the "big box" stores hit on a different level!

Folks, I'm just about ready to publish my "Halloween Movie Playlist". They are in no particular order, or anything like that. I have saw a couple of posts on here where others have their lists ready, or near-ready. So I propose, how about we post our lists on Friday? I think it would be a great way to usher in the "final" weekend of the year that is not in "The Bers"? Just my thoughts and if that idea is a bummer, We can just post them organically / whenever.

Have a great day!

I am so excited that Halloween seems to be popping up in conversation! First my great-nephew declared he wants to be a skeleton for Halloween and today a co-worker mentioned that she watched Hocus Pocus over the weekend. I will have to remember for next year to pay attention to see if it always emerges this time of year!

I gotta find those Peanuts yard standees soon! I want Linus waiting in my front yard for the Great Pumpkin. At least I'll be able to look for them during my upcoming vacation.
Any luck on finding your Peanuts yard standees yet?

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 7
DAYS TO THE BERS: 8
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 38
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 68

Good Morning Halloween Friends! And before I forget, Happy Rudolph Day Eve to all of you! This is the "last" Rudolph Day that we will have coming up before we are back in The Bers. Folks I honestly don't know if I've ever experienced a summer that has went by this fast!

We're a week away from our very final Jack O Lantern Day of 2022. I can remember how excited I felt back in January when the calendar finally turned to the new year, I was missing Fall and Halloween terribly after Christmas was over, and I was thinking how much I was going to need JOL Days to try and keep the excitement up through the year and keep the PCB's at bay. And now here we are, just a week away from the "last" one, and pretty much right on the doorstep to The Bers.

I'm even getting the jitters just now thinking about how within days, our main counts up top will be down to just TWO counts, Days to October, and Days to Halloween. If you remember, we started off with five counts, as we started counting down to Halfoween in January, I believe. We lost that one starting in May, and in another week we will lose the JOL Day count. Too early to make decisions now, but I think if the group agrees, we will continue with adding the JOL Day Count, and the days to Halfoween count back to the main countdowns beginning in January. I never want to cut into Christmas season.

Tonight I am going to copy down my Halloween movie play list and have it all ready for when I post it on Friday. Hopefully we can see some other lists in the coming days!

Have a great day!

Not too early, and yes, I agree. Let's wait until January to start those counts over again. We need something to look forward to at the beginning of the year. Which is also a great way to fight off the PCBs.

Nope, no luck yet. Our local market here in town hasn't had any standees (Peanuts or otherwise) in weeks. If it's not a complete downpour this weekend, my wife and I will go on the hunt for some.

We added this little guy to our Halloween collection tonight. He came from Marshalls/Home Goods. Only $8 (8" wide, 10" tall) He just looked so happy.

I already said this in the Christmas Countdown thread, but I NEED one of these. Way too cute.

I agree as well. Waiting until January is the right move.
