• Operation Christmas Cheer
AH! I forgot about Soup Week! Luckily I can participate today - we had Carrabba's for dinner last night, and I saved my sicilian chicken soup for lunch today! So the timing works out well. I just need to line up some soups for the rest of this week (I might cheat a bit and stretch the definition of a soup to include gumbo).

And 250 days until October 1st! Crazy to think that in March sometime we'll hit 200. Good thing I will be occupied for most of February so that time should just melt away.
We are having turkey and sausage gumbo on Friday night!

As to this week's question: I have for sure seen Happy Halloween cards, but I have never purchased them for anyone. I don't think they've become as popular to send as Christmas cards, but perhaps we can change that...

My mind just entered a parallel universe where there's a spinoff of this site called *MyHappyHalloween.com" and they do a Halloween card exchange there each year.
I heard a rumor that a long time ago there was plans at one point for MMC to do just that. But it didn’t work out as far as I know. As much as I love Halloween, I can’t imagine that the site would be anywhere near as popular as MMC is.

You sent me down the rabbit hole with this, so I did about five minutes worth of research. You might be surprised. A cursory glance over at Reddit reveals these numbers:

r/Christmas: 116k subscribers
r/Halloween: 226k subscribers

Now, obviously Reddit doesn't tell the whole story, but 110k more subs is nothing to sneeze at. That being said, I discovered Google Trends while I was looking at Halloween stuff and had to compare. So, Google Trends reveals that "Christmas" is searched WAY more than "Halloween" every single year, but last year the Christmas searches dropped while Halloween searches had a slight increase.

So, the moral of the story is: I have no idea what any of this means. But would I join a "MyHappyHalloween.com"? Possibly.

So grateful to see 250 days on the countdown, it makes this cold Monday a bit brighter.

I have never heard of Soup Week, but I think some Creamy Tomato Soup and Mac and Cheese will get added into this week's rotation!

I have sent Halloween cards for many years, usually with a candy and treats. Sometimes to far flung friends and family, sometimes to college students, sometimes to retired colleagues with Lotto Scratchers. Small ways to let people know I am thinking of them.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! And Happy Rudolph Day #1

We are here, nearly at the end of January. A lot of people, myself included are happy for that fact. I always feel like January is the longest month of the year. I'm looking forward to it warming up just a little. If the long range forecast holds, later this week and the beginning of February will be in the 40's. That will feel like Summer almost, after what we have been through!

In other news, there's been a Harry Potter marathon on SyFy. I've missed the first part of it. That's okay, because I've got Dark Arts Sunday coming up just this weekend, but I feel like the next time SyFy or any of the other networks do a "Wizarding World" marathon - I'm in. A fun way to spend a weekend, all it takes on my part for some instant Halloween Feels is to do the pumpkin / fall scented candle / wallflower, and brew up some Cherry Cider. It won't replace the routine I've drawn up, and it doesn't have to. Just another "organic" way to try and get those Fall Feels throughout the year that I crave. Same thing that happens in the rare event that you see Michael Myers or Jason on regular TV outside of their "normal days".

Have a great day, friends!

We watched a little bit of HP last night. I've seen every one of those movies a couple dozen times and it still does not get old. I get engrossed every time.
The funny thing is, there's really not a movie in the whole series that's a stinker. They're all very good. I could sit down and watch any one of them at any given time. Too bad we don't get Syfy, but I've been thinking I would like to buy them anyway as I could get a lot of mileage out of them.

That's funny. We have all the DVD's and only watch them on Syfy. :p

Sometimes the parallel between us is scary!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! I'm happy that it's Wednesday. I always feel a burst of energy on Wednesdays knowing that we are getting that closer to the weekend. The weekends still make me think of October weekends, I've thought about them now and missed them for a long time. They are still a long way away, but they are getting closer by the second! It's true. Just think of where we started from, and where we are today. No more counts in the 300's, they have been done for a while now. Halfoween count is almost down to 90 days. Soon, we will be at just 200 days until The Bers return. See what I mean!

And as you can tell from the picture, I'm excited to go back to Hogwarts. I know that "technically" the new term doesn't begin until September 1st (How cool is that), but January begins my long trek back to The Bers, Halloween, and really "Harry Potter Season" by default (as much as the marathons are on TV in October!) Even though I haven't made any yet, I can actually taste the Cherry cider that will be consumed this weekend in copious amounts!

We're going to try for another "Bers Fire" to celebrate this weekend being Dark Arts Sunday, and Monday being Jack O Lantern Day #1, but it is calling for a nor'easter again Friday night through Saturday, so we will see how it goes. I've got some dry wood all waiting.

WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR AT HOGWARTS.JPG

Have a great day, friends!

I love having all the different countdowns. Something is always turning a corner and that makes all this waiting so much more bearable. If we didn't celebrate the milestones I would just crawl into a hole until September 1st.
