Evening Halloween Fans! As I look at the forecast for this week with temps between 87-96 all week with humidity I thought to myself maybe a hot summer is a good thing. It'll make me appreciate autumn more. Maybe I should wish for a cold winter next winter to appreciate spring more? Ok I'm not that crazy. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Monday to all of you! As you can see, today is a big day with fresh new counts, there are now no more triple digit counts remaining. We are just 7 days from JOL Day, and we have now entered into a 30's count, on our way to The Bers!

I can see Fall Pre-Season on the horizon. And it's going to feel even sweeter as we sweat through a couple of truly horrible hot days this week. Three days this week get up into the 90's, but then the temps crash after Saturday. In a way, it's like Summer throwing me one last curveball before finally yielding to lower temps starting next month. The amazing thing about these days though, that are different from early in the summer, is that the heat doesn't hang around. It peaks and then recedes very quickly. Only a couple of hours of true misery before it slides back down heading into the evening. And right now we are having beautiful cool evenings, I feel them when we are out on our walks. We had 62 degrees the other morning. That's almost Fall temps!

Have a great day!

Morning all!

We had a nice fire last night and roasted some marshmallows. It was a nice way to end the weekend. We talked about some Halloween decorating idea.

Today and the rest of the week the heat is back. It is going to be 90 by Wednesday and stay in the 90s for a few days. I am not looking forward to that!

No. More. Triple. Digits. Let that sink in.

Also, I feel like maybe Snake covered this already in one of his earlier posts, but I'm just now catching up with the Halloween news. Something for all of you Bath & Body Works fans:

Doesn't the coffin plug in look really spooky?

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Rudolph Day!

We're under a week to go now until JOL Day. It will be the "last" JOL Day that we have this year in the Holiday "off-season". What a journey it has been.

Folks, I actually had PCB's the other morning. I know, it's crazy because I always had felt up to this point that by May / June PCB's were no longer threatening me. I missed Christmas, but I also missed all of the "Big 3" holidays in general. And I just think that's odd for this time of year, here right on the verge of entering into Fall Pre-Season, and little more than a month away from The Bers being back.

So my Tuesday Halloween thought is two fold today. Does missing Fall and Halloween fall under PCB's? Or could we coin a new term just for this thread? And secondly, and I don't think this has been discussed so far, but when exactly do you get those feelings of really missing Halloween? There's two big times for me during the year, one is in the very early days of November, so similar to that dreaded last week of December, It's tough because we are all so cheery about Christmas Season being here / beginning, but it's kind of a silent gnawing in me when I have to take down the outside Halloween stuff and replace them with Christmas decorations. That's when it really hits me that Halloween is done. Honestly only the thoughts of JOL Day and knowing that Spooky Spring is a few months away keeps it from being a major dose of PCB's like that last week of December. And the other is during the hottest, worst part of summer, but that one feels different because it's more of a yearning / excitement feeling, than sad feeling.

So that's it for me today. Have a great Rudolph Day!

I guess it could be called PFHB...post fall/Halloween blues. When Halloween is over I always have a bit of missing it in that first week of November. Luckily there is a bunch of stuff to look forward to in the near future and I get over it pretty quickly.

For me personally, the PCBs have a distinctly different feeling than the PFHBs (thanks @Irish75 for the new term). The PCBs are more of a gnawing depression co-mingled with sadness. The PFHBs feel to me more like an intense longing.

As for when they occur, I almost never feel any PFHBs during the Bers themselves. When I transition from Halloween to Christmas on November 1st, it's just replacing one joy with another, so while there are times when I'll think, "Halloween was great, I kinda miss it," it's not on the same level as actual PFHBs. I get those usually around March and April, and truthfully it's almost like Spooky Spring brings them on because I so badly want it to be the real thing!

I'm not saying I want to cancel Spooky Spring or anything like that. Spooky Spring is a very bright spot in an otherwise dull first half of the year. And the PFHBs are much easier to deal with than PCBs.

I do not really begin missing Halloween until the Spring. when the temperature is about the same as October. At that point I have a combination of missing both Christmas and Halloween. The blues of missing Halloween are at their height in June, but quickly go away as Christmas in July replaces the feeling. Then in August I begin all of the Halloween preparations and enjoyment.

I guess, for me, the PCB and the PFHBs are really more wrapped together than anything. What is perhaps odd is that even during Halloween season, my mind springs to Christmas from time to time. I have certainly been guilty of listening to Christmas music during Halloween season.

Loving the new term PFHB's! And I agree, it's much more of a feeling of longing / anticipation, that straight up sadness like that last week of December!
