Well guys, it's time for the special evening update and December review.

First things first, I have confirmed reports from various parts of the USA that EASTER CANDY is arriving in stores and being seen on shelves. This is incredible because this is over 3 months early, and if you remember my "Candy Cycle" chart, this means that technically, Halloween Candy is "up next". Now I'm not delusional, I know that we are basically 7 full months away from that. But if Easter Candy is out, Halloween Candy is what would come after that.

Now, time for our December review. December for me was everything that I hoped it would be, and also everything that I hoped it WOULDN'T be, mainly that it would go by as fast as I was afraid it would. And it did. I think the older I get, the faster it goes. It bought us Christmas, which Is still my first love and I think the greatest season and Holiday out of all of them. But I love Fall and Halloween, and in this brain, you CAN'T get to Christmas without passing through Fall and Halloween. And at this house, Halloween is every bit a part of Christmas time, as my lit up "Halloween grove" outside would indicate, as well as my ceramic Halloween Tree that has taken up space with the rest of the ceramic trees inside still on display.

December also brought us Halloween season milestones. We passed the 150 Days to Spooky Spring milestone back on December 1st, and just a few days later, on December 5th, we hit the 300 Days to October milestone.

Tomorrow we will have our January preview. But I want to tell you all I have an odd feeling right now of contentment, and yet growing anticipation for 2023. I am excited to get back to MMC Special Days and chasing milestones. This is not at all how I felt I would feel when I entered this week, much less when I laid my head down on Christmas evening with PCB's washing over me. Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!

Odd or not, I love that feeling of contentment.

DAYS TO JACK O LANTERN DAY: 31
DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING: 91
DAYS TO HALFOWEEN: 120
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN SEASON: 261
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 274
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 304

Good Morning Halloween Friends and Happy New Year's Eve! I was surprised at how fast the "slog" went by this time. I think the combination of the outstanding Offseason Thread, as well as my short work week made it go fast. And even this morning, I'm here raring to go for 2023. January is absolutely jam packed with milestone dates and special days. Which is what we are going to look towards today as we do our January preview.

*January 2023*

1/4 - 300 Days to Halloween
1/9 - 350 Days to Christmas
1/11 - 250 Days to Spooky Season
1/14 - 250 Days to October
1/25 - Rudolph Day #1
1/26 - Tom Turkey Day #1
1/27 - 300 Days to Thanksgiving
1/31 - Jack O Lantern Day #1

More stuff than you can shake a stick at. And this one is not on the "list", but it is a staple in here, and that's my annual Harry Potter rewatch begins on Sunday, January 29th. It's just about one milestone day per week, with a small "break" between the 14th, and the 25th. And it's exciting. January absolutely has something for everyone. There's truly a sprinkling of each Holiday in there. So I feel like, with something to look forward to almost every week, and in some cases more than once a week, January isn't going to feel so dark and awful.

And a reminder, Halloween 2023 is on a Tuesday this coming year, so beginning on Tuesday, January 3rd, I would like to start with our "Halloween thought Tuesday", where we can just bring up one thing that we associate with Halloween or Fall season. We do that kind of frequently here, but I really would like to have that day just be "dedicated" to that. And I just am calling it "Halloween Thought Tuesday", but if anyone has a better idea for a name that they would like, that is totally fine. I can't stress this enough but this is everybody's Halloween thread here on this site, I just post the daily counts, so keep that in mind please, If I do anything that you don't like or if you have any kind of suggestions on anything that we are doing in here, please just let me know.

That's about all I've got for today. See everyone back on here tonight that stays up to count down to New Year's! Have a great Saturday!

Morning Halloween Fans! Another year ends tonight. Wow. It's been a good year though overall. Halloween and October was a star of the calendar this year as it always is. It was extra special post-covid. Everything came back this year for Halloween. Have a great day!

Spooky Spring is creeping into my thoughts and I think it is a great sign that I am starting to look ahead. I am still pondering the possibility of moving the Great Pumpkin Hunt to April!

Happy New Year's Eve all. This thread really moves up with my attention here in the New Year rightfully so with it being the first up of the big three and with spooky spring. Spooky spring fills a perfect gap between St Patrick's Day/ Easter and Memorial Day weekend.

I have never done Spooky Spring, but I can certainly get behind the idea, at least in part. I truly love Halloween and I always struggle to get all of the Scary movies in.
Oh I hope you partake! Spooky Spring is just like Jack O Lantern Day, there's no hard "rule" on how much or how little you do. Do whatever suits your fancy. But yeah, feeling like October in April is basically what I try to accomplish, lol.

This year should be even better! I think last year by the time a lot of us "realized" we had something special with "Spooky Spring", we were already a week or so into April. Not this year though! I personally will pause "Festivities" in observance of Easter, but after that it's right back to partying like it's October!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Beginning today, we finally get to talk about Halloween in the present tense. And that's a big deal. Today, the 90 day window to Spooky Spring is also open for business. And we're just a few days away from crossing off our final 300 level countdown off the list, and that's "Days to Halloween".

WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR AT HOGWARTS.JPG

What else comes back in January? My annual Harry Potter rewatch and my personal version of "Dark Arts Sunday" begins 4 weeks from today, on January 29th.

And our very 1st Jack O Lantern Day of 2023 is at the end of the month. How very good it will feel to have a dose of Halloween / Fall again.

We've got our eye on October, the bonus months have passed, and we are now well into the "journey" again that takes us back to where we feel at home, "The Bers"

But don't look too far down the calendar, because you'd miss Friday the 13th, which is happening NEXT FRIDAY. It's like a Jack O Lantern "warm up" Day, or a "extra Halloween", or whatever you choose to make it!

Have a great day friends, and once again. Happy New Year!!

I am certainly looking forward to adding some "spooky" times throughout the calendar this year. Not something I have really done in the past, but I plan to make it happen.

Also, thinking forward to the full Halloween Season of 2023... it is probable that I will not be coaching football this Fall. While that comes with its own bit of sadness there are certainly several big positives. One of the biggest positives is that I get a LOT more time to enjoy the Fall as I want to! That means more scary movies, more decorating time, more time to make Fall foods, more time for Fall walks in the woods and by the river. I will keep myself plenty busy without coaching that is for sure. Even over the summer I will not have all of the practices which will allow me more time to concentrate on getting decorations prepared.

Ultimately, my goal is to make this Halloween season a truly great one!

My wife went into Joann's today and saw some remaining Halloween and Fall decorations STILL on clearance! I can't imagine there are too many left by this point (and she didn't get any pictures! Rats!), but it might be worth checking out if you have a Joann's near you and want some stuff for Spooky Spring!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! I hope everyone had a great New Year's Day. We are now dealing in the present. This coming Fall. This Halloween. This Thanksgiving. This Christmas, lol. No more past tense now. Just cruising along hitting milestone days.

Speaking of which, our next will be in TWO DAYS when we finally reach the "300 Days to Halloween" milestone day! There will then be no more 300's in this thread until we do the 2024 Halloween thread.

Folks, Friday the 13th is next Friday. It will be the first truly spooky-themed day that we have had since Halloween ended. And I'm pretty excited for it.

Have a great Day!

Next Friday the 13th weekend will be a long weekend for me, as we get Monday the 16th off for MLK Day. I might try to make a whole spooky weekend of it! I don't want to overshadow our first JOL Day though, so the festivities will be light. I might head back to Joann's with my wife and see exactly how much of that clearance Halloween stuff is left and if any of it is worth buying...
