Just checked the garden and the pumpkins are growing well. Actually, they have taken over! Vines growing in other garden beds. LOL

I have 3 good sized pie pumpkins that are starting to turn orange. I have probably 3-5 others that are growing nicely and still green. And another 2-3 that are quite small still. So overall I am happy with where they are. I should have enough for my pies and bread. I try to make a bread in October. I bread and pies for Thanksgiving and bread and pies for Christmas. So I really need 5 total. Anymore is just a bonus.
Excellent!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Tuesday! Monday is in the rear view mirror, and we continue our march through the week and towards The Bers. We are nearly at the midway point through the month! And next week will be the last full week of August. The Bers arrive in three(!) more Fridays!

Our next significant day, while not being a milestone day technically, will be on Saturday, when we mark exactly 30 DAYS to Halloween Season.

My Tuesday Halloween thought this week is about weather, specifically October weather. We have spoken about weather on Halloween day, and we talk lots of "Bers Weather", but today my mind goes to October weather. Just what is it? In my mind, "perfect" October weather is chilly mornings where you might need a light jacket before it warms up during the afternoon to mid 60's and low 70's. Then, with the sun setting, that chill starts creeping back in. Perfect to sit around an outdoor fire pit. It's important to note that I don't consider "freezing" weather to be part of October weather, although it has certainly got to near freezing before in past years!

Have a great Tuesday, friends!

I always take the second full week of October off from work. That’s also Fall break for schools. And it’s also the 10 day run of the Georgia National Fair. The weather during that period is usually very mild in the morning and very warm in the afternoon (@83-87F). Nighttime is hit or miss for needing a jacket. Mostly miss. By the end of October we’ll have some very nice days where we can open windows and enjoy a nice and dry fall breeze. I can’t wait!

Good morning Halloween fans!

Your weather thoughts are perfectly timed! October weather here in Ohio is usually in the 60s. The month starts with highs still in the low 70s, but by the 2nd week we are usually in the 60s and down to about 60 by Halloween. So I associated October weather with mornings in the 40s and afternoons in the mid 60s. We tend to get a few days of extra cool temperatures and a few days with extra warm temperatures and there is usually a fair amount of rain.

Why do I say your thoughts are perfectly timed? Well, my weather today is very much early October weather. The high today is only 72 and it is currently about 60 right now. It feels very much like October at the moment.

However, by the start of next week we will be in the low 90s. But hey, I will take an early Fall preview.

October weather is probably my favorite weather of the year typically. I really enjoying wearing a t shirt in the day and then putting on a hoodie in the evening. And the darn humidity is usually gone. I feel like parts of September and November can also have that weather, but it does not last the whole month like October.

Over in the Daily Holiday Hangout, I talked about a little known Halloween special and "prequel" to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The special is titled Halloween is Grinch Night.

Well, there's a YouTube channel that is streaming the entire 1979 broadcast right now as part of an ongoing fundraiser. It even includes the classic commercials and everything:

Like I said in the Hangout, I wouldn't expect Boris Karloff/Thurl Ravenscroft levels of greatness from this special, but it's a very fun pre-Halloween watch.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Time marches on! I'm not a math whiz, but I think we are officially over halfway in the month today at around 2pm. August has indeed went by fast, and I don't know how, it feels like Fall Preseason just started.

Scary movies and Sci-Fi movies are pretty much playing daily here now. And I don't even have to do it myself. A few nights ago we had a classic "Halloween Dud" on SyFy in the way of Jurassic Park, which is a movie that I loved anyway, but have grown to appreciate as a "Halloween" movie because it always plays during the SYFY's "30 Days of Halloween". And the past few nights SyFy has been playing the "Blade" movies with Wesley Snipes, which are also featured heavily during Halloween Season. All that's left for me to do here is finish decorating outside, which I should do by the end of next week. I am ahead of the game this year, and might even finish up a few days early!

Folks in just three days we will reach "The Final 30" to Halloween season. I can't think of a better term, so if you can, please by all means share! And we're just a hair over two weeks until The Bers officially arrive. What it will be like next week knowing mentally that we are in the final full week of August. Have a great Wednesday, friends! Can't wait for those weekend vibes to roll in later this afternoon!

Good morning Halloween fans!

Another Fall like day today. Yesterday was really like a Fall day. We had cloudy skies, drizzle, light wind and barely hit 70. It was amazing. Today is sunny but still only in the mid 70s.

Speaking of decorating, that process for me will start Labor Day Weekend most likely. Sometimes my wife decides to do it a little earlier, but we will see.

I listened to a lot of Halloween music yesterday and will listen to more today for sure. It is amazing how close we are getting to the Bers!

Man, I'm getting so hyped for Halloween. Yesterday after work we drove into town and just looked for more Code Orange. I was hoping that Spirit Halloween would be a little farther along than last time we passed by there, but nope -- still no merchandise or displays. Hopefully they get started soon. It's only 76 days until the big day, after all!

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about how much earlier Halloween stuff is coming out since the pandemic. I cheered--tried not to look at how other car occupants responded to that.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's finally Thursday which as you all know means the weekend is finally in sight. It is truly a unique feeling each week on Wednesday late afternoon / Wednesday evening when you realize that Thursday / the weekend is finally on the way.

Today we are exactly TWO WEEKS until JOL Day #7. And just 15 days until The Bers. Wow. I remember the very first JOL Day that I ever "observed" in August, it was August of 2020 and I remember how magical it felt that night basically counting down the hours until The Bers were back. Those magic JOL Day feelings I have still not lost yet, even as I "worried" earlier this year that they might lose some of their luster by adding additional JOL Days to the calendar. I think I didn't realize how much I really needed them.

My heart is full and happy this morning thinking about where we are in the month, and how close we are to being back to everything that we have missed. Have a great day!

With the Bers imminent, I haven't checked out All Hallows Geek in quite a while, mainly because there's a steady flow of Halloween stuff all around now. However, I decided to check this morning just to see if there was any Halloween news that I missed.

How about a 25-foot Michael Myers inflatable for your yard this year?

Yesterday, I wanted to visit my local Spirit Halloween to get a jump on the season. To my dismay, the closest location was too far away. I was shocked!!!
