Halloween 2023 Countdown!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 4
Happy Friday, Halloween Friends! At long last, the much anticipated and highly coveted HALLOWEEKEND is here. The magic of Friday along with the FEELS of knowing a major holiday event is about to take place.
I noticed yesterday that it appears our trees here are just about in full autumn colors. I'm wondering if the drought earlier in the summer made it take so long. Lots of leaves are falling now, so I know it won't be long now before the colors are gone and replaced by the empty trees signifying that winter is on its way.
This weekend, I really want to enjoy it. I want to take some pictures around the grounds here, as I do every year, to record this moment in time as I feel like we are at 100% "Halloween Power". It will be a warm memory to think back to in the coming weeks and months.
So being that the Halloweekend is going to be uninterrupted this weekend with any talks of monthly recaps or previews, we are going to go ahead and get the October recap out of the way today. I realize there is 4 more days in the months, but once the Halloweekend is over, the big 100% focus is obviously going to be on Halloween day, so we will do our November preview on Monday so that nothing gets in the way of Halloween.
OCTOBER - I could write a book about all of my feelings for October and how amazing it felt getting back to here, but I will try and keep it brief. If you all are like me, you started pining away for October once again as soon as Christmas had passed and we were all counting down in earnest in January. We toiled through the rest of the winter and got to catch our breath at Spooky Spring, a wonderful month that was the mirror edge of October, fueled by Jack O Lantern Days and other milestones along the way. By the time Summer arrived, Fall / October wasn't far away and we crushed the countdowns after "The Road" to The Bers opened back up. "Fall Preseason" stoked up our hopes and spirits, and maybe in what felt like a flash after that, we finally entered October. Ours was the month of bonfires, apple cider, pumpkin everything, Halloween lights, and Jack O Lanterns. Coming home every night and relaxing in front of a Halloween Show. Relaxing on the long weekends with outside chores slowing down, picking a scary movie to watch on Saturday nights, and Hogwarts visits every Sunday. Does Autumn have a singular month that is the soul of the season? Some might say September. But I think October is the heart of Autumn. And what a good month it has been and will continue to be.

The Europe song Final countdown just came to mind. Hard to believe the big day is almost here. A little display I did a few years back. I really miss having access to my decor. Will have to make up for it hopefully next year!
My town has a contest each year (well, this is the third year they have done it) for the best decorated Halloween houses. We drove around and saw all the winners plus just some other cool ones. There was one that had a pirate theme including the front part of a pirate ship that looked like it was about half scale. It seems skeleton pirates was a big theme. And in another area, there were two 12 foot skeletons dressed like Star War's characters having a light saber fight. They also had a Halloween tree with about 100 Artic Circle Halloween buckets with lights inside. It was so fun.
That’s awesome! Would be cool if the ABC network did a show for Halloween like they do for the The Great Christmas Light Fight! Which got me thinking of seeing this clip about Halloween on our local news this evening.

I'm looking forward to later just relaxing and watching scary movies and catching some of the Harry Potter marathon that is on SyFy tonight and through the weekend. We are in the absolute heart of Autumn now.

Morning Halloween Fans!
We have our Halloween Party tonight. Looks like the rain is going to hold off for most of the party as well, so we will be able to have a fire and outside available. We have not hosted a big party before, and wanted to since we moved into this house. So we are finally making it happen.
My county in Ohio has already had trick or treat; it was on Thursday. I have always found that strange. Today will be our big Halloween celebration, but I will certainly be watching Halloween movies through Halloween. I have a couple of things I am saving until tomorrow through Tuesday: Charlie Brown, and the original Halloween.
The weather has been so warm this week. It was in the 70s all week. However, a cold front is about to come through and turn things much cooler. This coming week we will be in the 40s for highs and mid 20s at night. Snow flurries Tuesday into Wednesday.

The big day is drawing near! @SolidSnake84 i hope you have a great party. My friends daughter had their party last night. I had an invite but had to work. It’s been a couple years since I’ve dressed up for Halloween! Would love to see pictures. Today the kids here will enjoy Pumpkin Lane as they trick or treat the local businesses.
