Good Morning Halloween Friends! How have we found ourselves at Monday again? I think the weekends fly by, there's just no denying it. And so today begins our crawl back to the weekend, and this one coming up isn't just any special weekend, it's the weekend before Christmas. Holy cow.

No milestones to chase this week, it's just a time to enjoy being in Christmas Season and to take it all in. I think all of us can agree that it is going by too fast, it always does.

The snow did arrive last night, it coated the grass and the tops of the cars, just like I had imagined. It was fun to hear that familiar sound of the salt truck driving up the road. I think this is one of the earliest times we've ever had snow, we usually don't get our first snows here until around January.

Have a great day!

I know the heart and stomach are not the same organ, but having Halloween candy for the tummy helps keep Halloween in my heart (I know, I am kind of a nerd).
Makes sense to me!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! No milestone this morning but it's a nice round 50 DAYS until the very first Jack O Lantern Day of 2023. We will be back in familiar company in January with the MMC Special Days returning. How wonderful.

We move along in this Tuesday, full in the Christmas Season. Eagle eyed countdown viewers will notice that tomorrow we are going to break into single digits before reaching our 100 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING milestone, that we will see NEXT WEEK! The rest of our counts are simmering nice and easy and just relaxing here as we continue to go through the "bonus months" portion of this thread.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, folks!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! At long last it's WEDNESDAY again! You guys know how much I love Wednesdays. Nothing much has changed in the counts this morning except we can now see that we have broken the 50 day seal on the way to our first JOL Day next month. I said at the beginning of this new thread, that the JOL Day Count would be at its absolute longest in November and December. Once January gets here, it will never be more than 30/31 days away since the group made the decision last year to add a JOL Day to February and June.

Single digits are now here between us and the 100 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING milestone day.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Evening Halloween Fans! I hope you all are having a good Wednesday. I had the day off and did a little late Christmas shopping. We also picked up some freezer food we need for Christmas Eve. No Halloween shopping but Halloween thinking as always. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Thursday to everyone!

We are nearly half way through the month of December. Time is moving way too fast. Our next milestone will be in 8 days when we celebrate reaching 100 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING. I say it all the time but I don't want to say it too much here in the heart of Christmas Season, these countdowns are going to look VASTLY different when we start the new year. It is always shocking to me how different everything seems even though we are only talking about a few weeks' worth of difference.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful day. Happy December Thursday!

Evening Halloween Fans! I looked up to see if I could find any Halloween candy at a warehouse online. Saw a few interesting things. I wonder how long it's been there and if it's stale. Oh well I already have Halloween + Christmas candy. Happy Halloween!

Why is December 31st not a Jack-O-Lantern Day?
I'd much rather see that count in the teens than the forties.

That's a good question. I'm not sure any of us on here have ever talked about doing a JOL Day in December, considering that it is also New Year's Eve and the focus for many of us online that night is jumping over in the main Christmas Countdown thread to countdown to the New Year and see Crown's return as he brings the countdown back. Plus at least for me, the Christmas Decorations are still up here, and the big tree. I've never had a JOL Day where the entire house is decorated for Christmas, I do think it would be sort of strange mentally / emotionally.

I think that whole last week of December is sort of cathartic to slog through, we have came to grips by that point that Christmas is "over" and by comparison are downright giddy at the new year, and the arrival of new milestones and special days to chase again.

I've said it many times on here, JOL Day belongs to everybody, I don't control it or what anybody does with them. I just post my routines and what I'm up to that day. If others got behind the idea of a 12/31 JOL Day, I would try and celebrate with them in some way, although I feel that it would not have the same weight as the JOL Days from January - on.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! At long last its Friday. TGIF!

We are now just one week away from celebrating the 100 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING milestone.

Today I have to borrow from one of Edge's threads and post a group poll, that I hope will spawn good discussion. We are switching gears a bit today and want to get thoughts from you, the people. Rich brought up a great question above and asked why there is no JOL Day on December 31st. I have put my thoughts about it above, but this is everybody's thread, nobody "owns" JOL Day, so I present a poll question to you today:

What do you think of having a JOL Day on December 31st?
A.) We should absolutely have one on 12/31
B.) I think it might feel strange / not as fun having one so close to Christmas
C) 12/31 is New Year's Eve and that is where my focus lies that day
D) Having JOL Day on 12/31 might be a "new" way to end that last week of December on a happy note

There is truly no wrong answer on here. Me personally my answer would be "B" or "C", but I could see if someone went with "D" or even "A". This is democracy in action, people. My personal thoughts are that on 12/31 I feel like I have "made it" out of the last week of December and am excited to see the main Christmas countdown up and going again on midnight of 1/1. I think the first round of MMC Special Days in January are the perfect way to celebrate getting out of the longest, darkest part of winter. That's just my two cents. Have a great day today and let us know your answers!

Ooooo, a poll in the Halloween thread! Now this is new! We should do polls here more often.

I find myself leaning towards C for this one. And a little bit of B as well. It’s hard for me to summon up the spooky on New Year’s Eve, and last year I started the “Bers’ End Feast” with my family as kind of a way to close out the year and celebrate the fun we had during the Bers.

Now that I think about it though, even as I’m typing this…what if I incorporated all of the elements of the Big 3 into my Bers celebration? An end-of-year party that combines elements of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas? Oh wow, I do believe we’ve stumbled onto something big here…

I will go C. I love Halloween but it has its time and place for me as does everything throughout the year. I put my attention on the New Year that day.

With that said more Halloween can never be a bad thing! Honestly anymore the Fall/Halloween season is really getting close to the enjoyment level as Christmas Season for more these days.

I am pretty excited for next year for various reasons. But I will save that discussion for after the New Year and starting with the Off-Season Thread.

It definitely would not have the same weight as the others, but come December 26th, I'm gonna need a good pick me up. And a "5 days until JOL Day" just might do the trick. I guess it's more about the journey than the day itself. I'm a D on this one.
