This is truly democracy in action, folks. I think I've seen enough to suggest that we make some sort of "compromise". Most people seem to agree that JOL days from January - September have a certain specialness and feel to them. Most people also seem to agree that having some sort of "blow off" / special event on 12/31 to coincide with saying goodbye to "The Bers" might be the pick-me up event to signify not only saying goodbye to The Bers, but also celebrating having safely navigated through that awful last week of December.
So I propose we meet in the middle and come up with the name for our celebration in here and that we will observe 12/31. The rest of the waking world knows this day as New Year's Eve, but in here we can think of some kind of special name It isn't Jack O Lantern Day, and It Isn't New Year's Eve. We can iron out the name, and then figure out all that this special celebration will entail.
