Well, it's taken me long enough for my first post. I have been a member for a while. I am an electrical contractor. I have been very busy with business this year, so I haven't had much time to post. I obviously am a Christmas lunatic. I love to put up big Christmas light displays. I had an article published in the local newspaper one year about my experience getting to decorate a house on "THE" Christmas street in my hometown. My author pen name was The Crazy, Chronic, Christmasaholic. You won't ever find an artificial tree in my living room. I listen to Christmas music everyday. My work is very stressfull (estimating, running the office)and Christmas music soothes me. I also write songs. I have only written one Christmas song, but I intend to write more if I can ever find the time. My greatest blessing in life is my wife and 4 kids. I think there are two kinds of people in this world; snowday people and not-snowday people. I'm definitely a snowday person. Maybe I'll post what that means later. I'd rather see if there are others out there that understand that before I reveal what it is.

I love Jesus and we celebrate Him at Christmas, but I also love all the other things about Christmas. I love the lights, music, movies, and I even love all the shopping and commercial aspects of Christmas. A movie that has become a classic to me is "Jingle All the Way." It's about crass, Christmas commercialism and I love it because I've pretty much lived it.

I guess I ought to stop. I can get kind of long winded. But, I have seen where you tell people after their first post to tell you more about themselves, so I wanted to be sure and tell you enough so you'd know I definitely belong in a place for Crazy, Chronic, Christmasaholics.

Thank you Billy. How 'bout a glass of eggnog?
Tim

I actually hate eggnog. Please stop your screaming I know it is unusual but its true.

Tim! That's a model intro. You're my kinda guy. Welcome! Please belly up to the eggnog bar and let's toast you. Merry Christmas, where's the pictures of your light display? Only four kids? Amateur! (I have 7). And snowdays? I'd take them 6 days a week and twice on Sundays.

Welcome, again. I'm thrilled you're here.

Jeff

Let me offer a big hearty welcome as well!!! And what a fabulous first post...Youcould have gone on for ten more minutes and I would have read every word!!!

Hope you'll continue to post early and often! I'm not positive what you mean by a snow day but I love it when a huge storm comes and shuts down the whole town...If that's a snowday I'll take one or two a week!!!

Again welcome!!!

Jay

I think Jeff and JayIsh have a good grasp of what a snowday person is. Jeff, if I ever get over being techno challenged, I'm going to put pictures and video of my lights up. The only place I would have to put them now is my company website, my songramp website, or myspace. I do have one picture of last year's lights on myspace. It is not the best picture but you can get an idea from it. I really need video though because it's got a lot of motion in it. Myspace site: myspace.com/storeytime9
I don't suppose there's a way to show pictures here is there?

Im a "snowday" girl FOR SURE! I live in Washington in an area known as the "Snow belt" Great to have you aboard! This is a really great place to discuss our favorite topic...we too have 4 kids.

What a great into and what a great addition to the Christmas family you will be. Cant wait to hear more about the love of the season, WELCOME!

Hello Storeytime and welcome. I love Snowdays myself. Beings I'm from Oregon I do get a few now and then. If I really need one I don't have far to drive for one once the snow hits the Cascades, only about 20 miles. As the crow flies I only live about 50 miles from Diamond lake and a few mile more brings Crater lake into the picture. Now driving miles its a bit further. We always like going into the mountains to get our main Christmas tree. We have a few smaller trees around also fresh and fake. I live in the middle of Douglas County that is famous for the Douglas fir Christmas trees. Hope you have heard of the beautiful Douglas fir trees.

OOps kind of got off the beaten path. Welcome, I loved your post. Please, please share more with us. Your lights sound wonderful. I wish I could afford hundreds of strings but maybe one of these days I'll make it there.

Welcome! It is a pleasure having you here.:))

I live in Alabama, so we rarely have snowdays here. If we ever do get one, it is only about an inch or two. You should see the panic people get into if snow is mentioned. It can be comical. I do think the "blizzard" of 1993 scared and shocked a lot of people. We had snow up to the windowsills. That was more snow than I had ever seen. It was suppose to only be a few inches, but it was a few feet instead. Everything came to a standstill. I guess people think it will be like that everytime flurries are mentioned. It is funny to see some peoples reactions. I mean, come on, that was a fluke for Alabama.

Sorry to ramble.

:welcome: Storeytime!! Make yourself at home!!

:snowball: Welcome, Storeytime ~ I know a thing or two about blizzards and snowdays.
Unfortunately, we've grown so used to it that it rarely shuts anything down anymore. We just ski to work or skate if it's icy. The odd time the school buses won't run or a few schools have to close (depending on safety). I live in snowy Ontario, Canada. I remember when Toronto (four hours away) had a snow storm and they had to call in the Army Reserve to help dig them out. We laughed about that here, but really they don't have the need for too many snowploughs there. Around here, anyone with a truck has a scoop on the front, makes winter life simpler.

:hello: I look forward to sharing a little eggnog, and other festive delights with you as time goes on.

Hope you have heard of the beautiful Douglas fir trees.
As a matter of fact, the Douglas Fir is the only tree we ever use until last year. The ones we get come from your neck of the woods. I think they're the most beautiful tree. Last year we used a Frasier Fir for the first time because the shipment of Douglas Firs wasn't too good this year. I may continue using the Fraiser because the limbs were more sturdy to support all the gazillion ornaments we put on it.
