• Tracking Santa Around the World
The last few Thanksgivings have been D. Rainy, but I love a B. Cold and Dry Thanksgiving!

This is too funny.
Edge, you live in the Northeast and normally have B and want C.
I live in the Southeast and normally have C and want B. :p
I would love to have A, but that would be highly unlikely here.
I try to hold on for the mild weather as long as I can because of days like yesterday when we got 12 inches of snow!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 342
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 318
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 257

Happy 1 Week Till Christmas! Can you believe that? Yeah but luckily we aren't 1 week till any of OUR counts. We have 342 days till Thanksgiving, 318 days till November and 257 days till The Bers. That's a lot more than 1 week till ANY of those. And I'm glad about that. Monday we'll celebrate our next milestone which will be the arrival of winter. Well we celebrated it yesterday with 12 inches of snow in my area. Shoveling was not easy. Definitely harder work than preparing Thanksgiving dinner. Physically tiring. But thanks to everyone here for their participation yesterday with the poll. It was a lot of fun and yeah I'm a mild weather guy so I always hope for that but I have to say having a winter wonderland out there as the holiday season is here is pretty cool too. Have a great 1 Week Till Christmas!

I realized that with the past couple of years, ever since the arrival of winter "officially" on December 21st, I have used that date as sort of the "unofficial" kick-off to counting down to Spring. Funny how that works, right? I spend all summer wishing summer away and wanting to fly into Fall again. But the truth is, once we've closed the book on Christmas, the winter can get sort of long and depressing, even for a guy like me who loves it. If there's no more snow storms and stuff after Christmas, then I want to move on to the next season as quick as possible. Why Spring? Spring just seems like it is a good time to begin thinking and planning about the upcoming Holidays. I had strong wishes / urging for Thanksgiving in April / May of 2020. I wonder will the same be true for this year. Thank goodness for Tom Turkey Day!

We saw Valentines Day stuff out and I was disgusted today. It used to be a great time going out after Christmas to look for sales on decorations and just buy the stuff you will never use. Seems like we can barely make it to Christmas now before its gone.
Horrible CW! My grandmother always said "they rush the seasons too much". Especially a season like Christmas why would you try to get rid of something so great and positive in a year we've had so much difficulty in the world and in most people's lives? Makes no sense!

I try not to rush any time anymore. It all goes too fast anyway. I'm not a fan of winter. But I do love the fact we got 12 inches of snow this week and now looks like we should have a white Christmas.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 341
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 317
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 256

Happy Weekend Before Christmas! Does that hit you when I say that? I'm sure it does but for us in this thread of course it's not about Christmas. It's about the day that brought us into this most wonderful time of year. That would be Thanksgiving Day of course. But first we have 2 other counts we look forward to as well. Let's look at all 3 counts together: 341 days till Thanksgiving, 317 days till November & 256 days till The Bers. Our next milestone comes on Monday. It will be the arrival of the 1st of 3 seasons we will go through on our journey back to Autumn. It is the season of winter. Be here for that on Monday as we celebrate our next milestone. Other than that all my turkey loving friends...thank you for being here. You all make this more fun to do every day. Nobody right now is thinking about Thanksgiving...except us in this thread right here and now. Have a great Weekend Before Christmas!

I used to do a lot of research on the phenomenon that is labeled as "The Christmas Creep". In my life (36 years), I have for sure noticed how much "faster" the holiday stuff comes to the stores and how much faster it seems like they change it out as they rush the next season. For a guy like me who loves the "BER" Holidays, this is a good thing, because I get excited when a place like Hobby Lobby starts putting out Christmas stuff in May, or when we are fighting a horrible hot summer, and you go to the grocery store and get delighted to see Halloween candy starting to populate the shelves, and things like Apple Cider, etc, in August.

But it has its drawbacks too. Our Costco right now, for example, they are selling summer pool toys, bathing suits, etc.... It's crazy! There is a joke at work with a woman that I work with, if she ever has to buy new coats or boots for her kids, you better do it in summer!

I'm going on a grocery run later this morning, just a few last minute things that we need for Christmas dinner next week. I always think of Thanksgiving much more when I am in Martin's, as opposed to Walmart. I think its because of Martins always giving out the Hams and Turkeys. Thanksgiving, and Halloween, and of course obviously Christmas, is always on my heart and mind 24/7. As our good friend @The_Escalation coined it, the "Christmas Triumvirate".

I saw some last week too!

Kids winter boots are gone in January. Think I bought tanktops last Feb.

Seems like its around July and WalMart loses all their shorts and t shirts. July and August here are smoldering hot and humid so a person needs to plan ahead to see if they have enough t shirts to ruin from sweating..lol

Always those last few minute items are key for any holiday!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 340
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 316
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 255

Happy Nearing Christmas! Yeah we are nearing that special holiday that really is connected to the holiday we here talk about all year long (Thanksgiving, of course). Today's 3 countdowns in this thread look like the following: 340 days till Thanksgiving, 316 days till November, and 255 days till The Bers. They all look good to me. Of course, we are far, far, far away from another Thanksgiving because we're heading right towards Christmas Week now. Woohoo. Monday we'll have a milestone folks and that will be the arrival of winter. We'll also have our weekly countdown to the best week of the year. Sounds awesome doesn't it? But let's all enjoy our Sunday. This is such a great time of year and we really have Thanksgiving to thank for all of this. Have a great Nearing Christmas!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 339
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 315
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 254

Happy Christmas Week! We have arrived at the week of Christmas. This is the only week of the year you can even compare to Thanksgiving Week. We call it the greatest week of the year here. This week is its only real competition for that title. We have 339 days till Thanksgiving. We have 315 days till November. We have 254 days till The Bers. And believe it or not we have reached a MILESTONE today. It is the arrival of winter folks. The 1st of 3 seasons begins today back to the road to the most amazing season of Autumn. With it being Monday our weekly count to Thanksgiving Week stands at 48 weeks. Indeed it is a new week and a very special one at that. It's fun continuing our weekly count to Thanksgiving Week. It certainly deserves it. Our next milestone is Thursday. It will be the first EVER "Tom Turkey Day" which will fall on Christmas Eve. Talk about a special day. I am looking forward to it as I know all of you are. Have a great Christmas Week!

Ohhhhh yeah, here comes Tom Turkey Day! Although this month I'm cheating a little bit since the food we're having on Christmas Eve will also be our Christmas lunch (no Christmas dinner this year since we're staying at home due to COVID, so our Christmas dinner will be leftovers).

But there will definitely be a Thanksgiving-like spread: turkey, spiral-sliced glazed ham, dressing, my baked mac and cheese, green beans, a pumpkin pie (assuming I can find one), and a new addition: a braided garlic loaf. My wife found a recipe, and we gave it a test run over the weekend. It is our new replacement for dinner rolls.

OH YEAH.....Tom Turkey Day. I remember when it was announced, I was so excited. I think it was like two days later that we had that "first" 4th Thursday of the month, and I woke up raring to go that day and was so excited only to learn that Tom Turkey Day would not be celebrated until after Thanksgiving 20'. Ha. But it's here now and that's what counts.

Speaking of today, the first official day of winter means that I am keeping a "silent count" to SPRING. Why spring? Well, for most of us it means that we have made it through the "blah" part of the year after Christmas, the weather is nicer and gentler, and in general, I don't miss Christmas & Fall quite as bad when the weather has changed and outside chores and work have taken up some of my time. Truth be told, once the holidays are over, I am ready for the next season to come so that I can advance in my countdown(s).
