Thanksgiving 2021 Thread

Happy Week Into March! We are a full week into the month of March now. And it reflects in our 3 daily countdowns here in this thread. We have 263 days till Thanksgiving, 239 days till November, and 178 days till The Bers. Yep all 3 counts moving along today on this Sunday. Our next 2 milestones which happen to fall on the same day will happen in 13 days time. They will be the arrival of spring & the 250 Day Marker to Thanksgiving. Talk about a big and important Saturday. That will be the case when those 2 milestones arrive. Well turkey may be on your mind today. Personally, it's on my mind all the time. I mean can you really blame me? I love turkey. And it keeps those festive thoughts in my head here in the latter stages of winter. Have a great Week Into March!​
 
Check this out, the little bit of Christmas & Fall Stuff I saw in Hobby Lobby yesterday! Now full disclaimer: My wife told me that because this was the scrapbook section, this kind of stuff didn't "count", but i'll let you be the judge. I personally am taking this as the gentle introduction / reminder that I am about a month out, give or take, from being able to see Christmas stuff in the Hobby Lobby:

Oh, it counts. I didn't even see this much in my local Hobby Lobby yesterday, so this picture gave me a jolt of excitement.

I probably won't go back into Hobby Lobby until the end of April now as I don't want to set myself up for further disappointment, but this definitely gives me something to look forward to.

Happy Marching Ahead! We have moved into the 2nd week now of March. Winter is still hanging on here at 21 degrees this morning but this might be one of the coldest temps we see again until later next Autumn/early Winter. Big warm-up on it's way for the majority of the week. We have 262 days till Thanksgiving, 238 days till November, and 177 days till The Bers. Our next 2 milestones happen on Saturday, March 20th which is the 1st day of spring & the 250 Day Marker to Thanksgiving. That's going to be quite a day here in this thread. It's Monday folks so do not forget we have our Weekly Countdown to Thanksgiving Week (the best week of the year). And that count now stands at 37 weeks! That's right it's been 15 weeks now since Thanksgiving Week. Pretty incredible isn't it? And 37 weeks to go. Seems like it was only yesterday that we had been on that special Monday of Thanksgiving Week yet in other ways it feels like a long time ago. Have a great Marching Ahead!​

Happy Springing Towards Spring! We have real spring weather coming today and I look forward to it for sure. Of course, it reminds me a little bit of Autumn when spring comes. It's similar in a way. And Autumn reminds me of our 3 countdowns above. We have 261 days till Thanksgiving, 237 days till November, and 176 days till The Bers. So our next milestone will be a double milestone day. It will happen on Saturday, March 20th. It will be the 250 Day Marker to Thanksgiving & The Arrival of Spring. Does it get much bigger than that folks? Not really but looking ahead in the countdown and at all the insane milestones coming then maybe it does get bigger (and better). Ok all you turkey fans it's March and I'm thinking Thanksgiving. Does that make me crazy? Have a great Springing Towards Spring!​

This is what I tell everyone I know, and I mean it totally in kindness. Don't get your hopes up.

Me personally, I can't see "stuff" like that ever becoming back to what it was. Not for a long time, maybe possibly not ever in our lifetime. Our own governor on Sunday said quote: "Life for us will never be the same as it was before".

But what I am saying, is that my personal way of approaching the 2021 Holiday season is to prepare for the "worst" and hope for the best. That way, if somehow things are better, than they were last year, I will be ELATED to take part in it, because it will be a surprise. I was texting my buddy last night about a good place in West Virginia (State is completely open again) to go and watch the fireworks. It used to be an annual tradition of ours. I can almost guarantee you that where I live (Virginia), fireworks and stuff of that nature for July 4th will not be allowed.

Don't take anything I say the wrong way, I just think for the best mental health, we keep ourselves from feeling so down and defeated by just assuming that parades and stuff will either not happen, or not have any spectators. THEN, if somehow I am mistaken, I will be overjoyed because It was something that I genuinely did not expect to see again!

Agreed, and well said. I keep thinking things will be "normal" this year, but truthfully "normal" isn't going to be normal anymore. It might come close, but it probably won't ever be the same as it used to.

Now, I don't immediately want to jump to worst-case scenario, but I will totally have a contingency plan in place in case the parade bombs.

I just checked the DSM5, which is the manual for diagnosing all things crazy and there is no designation for thinking of Thanksgiving in March making you officially crazy. Now that doesn't mean you aren't weird, strange or demented, but you can't be diagnosed as crazy. Hope that brings you some peace of mind ;)

"Normal" is just a setting on the washing machine. We want whatever happens to be healthy for everyone so if we hope for that, then maybe we can avoid the disappointment!
 
Merry Tuesday folks! Spent the early morning at the meat market gathering up supplies for the start of BBQ season. Wont be long and I will be moaning about the ph and chlorine in the pool. We are still viewing huge mounds here and there of plowed snow, its awful looking due to being so dirty and trash mixed in with it.

This is a transition year (slow one) to some kind of normalcy. What will the "new normal" be? Not sure. But we will see people at parades again. We already are seeing fans returning to games (slowly).

Happy Double Digits March! We are rolling along now into the 10th of the month. We have 3 counts as usual this morning. And they are the following: 260 days till Thanksgiving, 236 days till November, and 175 days till The Bers. Our next milestone date is in 10 days time 1 week from Saturday when we celebrate a dual milestone with the arrival of spring & the 260 Day Marker to Thanksgiving. That will be certainly a celebration here. And it will be a grand one at that. Now everyone here I'm sure feels good with the temps warming up a bit after a long and cold winter (unless you live in a really warm climate). It's definitely a good feeling and one main reason I'm in no rush to get back to The Bers and the Holidays. Let's take our time I say. We'll enjoy the build more that way.
