Same here. Those Covid numbers sure aren't dropping. Thankfully I have a backup plan, but I want a real parade, dang it!
Actually, I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen. I've expressed my frustration here before over the declining quality of the parade each year, even before Covid. I think I'll be okay if they have to scale things back another year and then make up for it next year with a really huge and awesome return to form.
Just took down my "Life is Better in Flip Flops" front door wreath and changed it to the wheat one that goes up for September.
There will be a parade with people this year. You heard it here first.
I know what you mean. But I still like seeing it on live on Thanksgiving morning.

- My answer is A. As much as I love summer…I’m ready. I’ve had enough of the humidity and I’m ready for the greatest 4-month stretch of the year to begin. Everything is in front of us. Have a great Later August!
Not gonna rant, but I think this whole "next year" thinking is what is causing so much problems. We can't keep moving the goal posts. Covid is here to stay with us, it is a scientific fact. We have to learn to live with it. They already know that it is going to keep circulating in mass, there's nothing that can be done about it. Some places will have it worse than others. I think people just need to live their lives and understand that they have a daily risk of contracting Covid. The only other alternative is to go inside, hide, and never come out ever again. We are also going to have a whole lot more people vaccinated by the fall. I don't think 2021 was ever going to be the year to get totally "back to normal". We always knew there would be one final big wave, then after that, probably have a daily permanent baseline of between 20 - 40K infections daily. That's about as low as they can get it. So I do think that 2022 will be about as "back to normal" as this country will ever get. And I think slowly, even some of the hardcore lockdown governors are realizing that there is no way to vanquish Covid, and they can't close their states down indefinitely because of the terrible consequences to the economy, and people's livelihoods.
Can I vote more than once? I'm going to vote "A". And then drive a few towns over and vote "A" again. Rinse and repeat.
I have been ready for the longest time to have The Bers back! We just can't wait!

Yeah, all very valid points. I don't think Covid will ever vanish entirely; more likely it will continue to mutate and we'll be chasing it with a new shot every year, much like we do with the flu. Personally I'm not worried for myself; I'm vaccinated and, with the exception of my migraines, my immune system has always been freakishly strong...as in I can count on one hand the number of times I got sick from a cold, flu, virus, etc. and had to miss school or work. I do worry for my wife, who has asthma, and my 4-year old who is unvaccinated. The odds are my daughter would be fine if she caught it, but I'm not willing to take that risk until she is able to get vaccinated. My wife is already vaccinated, but I still worry about a breakthrough case with her.
At any rate, you're right: We can't shut ourselves in forever and be afraid to live our lives. We will still celebrate a "normal" Thanksgiving this year; all of our immediate family is vaccinated, so our worries about contracting it during our holiday get-togethers are few. At the same time, I'm really going to watch how things go with this Delta variant and hope that the wave dies down between now and Christmas.
The recent news that Pfizer's vaccine received FDA approval and Moderna is hopefully next has me thinking we'll still see a return to form with the parade this year.
Aww dang! It snuck up on me this month! Hey, by the way, my wife and I have had Friendsgiving Casserole a few more times and I think we've perfected the recipe now.
The trick is: Do not add the bread to the casserole until after the casserole is already baked.
You can toast or broil the bread in the oven separately alongside the casserole, or you can even just dry it out in advance and set it aside, but it will absolutely get soggy if you add it to the casserole before putting it in the oven. There is no way around it. We tried adding the bread at different times and even tried substituting other breads in place of the baguette. Soggy every time.
Bake the casserole and either sprinkle the bread on top last, or go ahead and scoop some casserole in your bowl and stir in the bread, then eat it before the bread has time to soak too long.

I am definitely A! I am ready to move onto a new season!!
I wasn't worried at all about catching Covid before getting the vaccine. I just knew that the vaccine gave me the best chances of not getting very sick IF I got it, and also, I wanted to get ahead of the eventual law that will require all citizens to be vaccinated....
I am firmly in the A. camp and I am definitely ready to say goodbye to the heat and humidity.
Solid, normal is just a cycle on the washing machine anyway
