Happy rainy Sunday everyone! Yesterday was a decent day, we froze our Thanksgiving sweet corn per me and my neighbors tradition. We ended up blanching 48 ears and cutting it off the cobs. I can almost smell the turkeys cooking now.

And you saw CW say his cranberry sauce is in his fridge. So we should all be thankful for that. We need him to keep it in there and not lose it. And we’ll all remind him when the time comes.
I was just thinking that maybe CW should leave a note on his sweet corn to remind him of the cranberry sauce! I remember my mom blanching corn for the freezer, a hot job but so appreciated. Enjoy the fruits (veggies) of your labors, CW!

On Thanksgiving Eve, let's all post reminders for CW not to forget the cranberry sauce. Surely if all us regulars remind him, there's no way he can possibly forget...right?

Ya know that all started with one year we were all burnt out on sweet corn. I had a bunch of it left and was going to toss it out, we both had a idea to freeze it up for Thanksgiving. Thats how its been every year with us. We also make a point of husking corn in the kitchen because the 1st year we did it was horrible weather outside..its the small things that keeps ya going.

I dont care for all the fancy cranberry sauces people make. I like the plain old open a can and dump out the roll. I alternate cranberry on turkey and a dab of horseradish.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 60
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 37

Happy September Sunday! Today folks we have reached 60 days until Thanksgiving (big round #) and 37 days until November. Our next milestone will be on Saturday. That is 6 days from now and will be the Arrival Of October. Now you all know I’m a Halloween Crazy Person (and Thanksgiving and Christmas lol). But one thing that this milestone will also bring is not just the month of Halloween but the Arrival of the FINAL month on our 11-month journey back to November. Absolutely amazing isn’t it? I remember when we started the 11-month journey on December 1. And here we are less than a week away from completing month #10 leaving 1 month to go. Personally here in our Awesome Autumn I am trying to hold on really tight to September and am glad we will be in it ALL WEEK LONG ahead. We need another September week I feel. So I’m glad we have one. It’s been a great amazing Bers month though. And it only gets better from here. Now for all of you turkey fans you keep it real ok? And you saw CW say his cranberry sauce is in his fridge. So we should all be thankful for that. We need him to keep it in there and not lose it. And we’ll all remind him when the time comes. Have a great 2nd half of your weekend. Have a great September Sunday!
60 Days to Thanksgiving. WOW. I also can't believe that there is only ONE MORE Tom Turkey Day to go. I think the excitement is sort of very much comparable to when we hit the "last" Jack O Lantern Day in August, just knowing what is coming next. It's been a beautiful Fall weekend so far. Cool, borderline chilly temps at night.

I'm really not sure we will see any more days that reach 80 degrees the rest of the way. The "hottest" it gets over the next 10 days is 66 degrees, and it gets as low as 40 degrees on a few nights. I know pellet stove time is on its way next, probably soon than we would like. We are normally burning the stove at least at night by the time we reach November. In fact I hauled a load just this morning to get ready. We are hoping to have two full tons here (100 bags) on the ground by next weekend, and will buy a third ton sometime in October and at that point we are ready to go for winter, between that and the oil tank, we can handle the cold.

Have a great day, friends!

I agree, it is the small things that mean the most!

Time is starting to move so fast. It's nearly October.

Today I made a feast for my SIL, niece, and grand nephew. One other guy attended.

We had ham, lobster mac & cheese, scalloped potatoes, shrimp, and so many sides I lost track. I had made a lava cake a couple of days ago but I bought five flavors of Ben & Jerry's and some sorbet to round it off. I had fruit and cheese platters. I honestly wore myself out and I ache all over but to see those people laughing, eating, and enjoying the dinner was so worth it. With Covid, I hadn't seen my niece and her son since 2018. They live in upstate NY and both have demanding jobs.

The bad news is that their flight to return in Thursday and that's when the hurricane will most likely be in our area or somewhere near us. It will probably come in on the other side and be weakened considerably by land but, by all predictions, should bring high wind and lots of rain. If their flight is cancelled, they'll stay until Sunday. They're fine with it either way. They all went in the pool today and got some serious sun. They went back to my SILs very full and happy. I'll probably see them sometime tomorrow if I have any energy left.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 59
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 36

Happy Autumn Week! Today folks we have 59 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 36 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the Arrival Of October which will be the start of the 11th month on our way back to November. And believe it or not that 11th month will be the beginning of the final month before we reach November again. If you don’t realize the importance of enjoying this week folks I don’t know what to say but I’m telling you to do it. Because when October comes the Halloween stuff starts and things start moving forward. We are here in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone being on Saturday. I love Saturdays but you know what we need Saturday to stay at the end of this week for now. And keep it there for a while. But I hope all of you are ready to get your week kicked off with a good start today. And a little bit of a push. We all could use that after the weekend trying to get going for a new week. If you are a turkey fan keep an eye out for them this week. This is their chance to stay in September as well. They don’t want to gobble and wobble too soon I hope. And no matter what your week is starting off like I hope it will be a great one for all of you. Enjoy it and have as much fun as possible. Mondays aren’t bad trust me. Speaking of before we go we have our Weekly Countdown Till Thanksgiving which now is at 8 weeks. Wow. Figure 8. Have a great Autumn Week!

Was just having this conversation with Holly, Edge. We can't believe we are at the end of September and now October is standing on the front door looking in. October is obviously special because of the whole spooky vibe and Halloween, but for us, it was the month that we met each other in 2006. We started dating on Halloween of 2007, and now here we are 15 years later expecting our first child in October, due in the next few weeks!

Have a great day, friends! Gonna be turkey time soon!

We're in the 50s now. o_O
