I am not used to saying this but Labor Day seems a lot longer ago than 5 weeks, which is a good sign that even though I though September went too fast, that I have done okay savoring the first 5 weeks and today I am going to make sure I check the calendar and make plans to enjoy the five remaining weeks until Thanksgiving. With just 5 weeks to go the shopping ads should really be kicking into high gear soon!
Interesting but Labor Day does seem like a long time ago. Maybe that means we have a long 2nd half build to Thanksgiving!

The cornucopia mold I ordered to make the treats for the Thanksgiving place settings came! It was all I could do to not start making them. Now I just have to decide what I am going to fill them with.
Are the molds for chocolate or pastry? That is a really neat idea! I am intrigued.

For chocolate. You can make them solid, but I am going to make them open and then fill them with a treat. I don't know what yet, maybe autumn M&Ms or kisses. Something cute that people will also like. I already cellophane bags to put over them. I have done just the chocolate turkeys that I have purchased for the last four or five years and I need a change. If you have any ideas of things to fill them with, I would love suggestions.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 38
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 15

Happy 2nd Half Of October! Today folks we start off a brand new week in the month of October and we have the following countdowns to enjoy: 38 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 15 days to go until November. Our next milestone is going to be on Saturday. Doesn’t Saturday sound wonderful on a Monday? I think so. And it will be the Home Stretch Till November (now that really sounds wonderful doesn’t it?). But we have all week to enjoy before we get there. It’s Monday and we’ll do our Weekly Countdown Till Thanksgiving which now stands at 5 weeks. Uh yeah. That’s one hand folks. I remember when we had a 0 behind that 5. Remember that? 5 now. Geez. But still 5 weeks is more than a month so we have a lot of time to go. No worries (yet). Now we move ahead in our Awesome Autumn into a new week together. Tuesday we’ll have a little surprise and try to mix something new in. I’m thinking we’re going to call it our Weekly Picture Day. Share any Thanksgiving pictures you have. Remember picture day in school? Well this picture day is actually fun. Now for all of you turkey fans keep it going and enjoy your time with everything from work to school/home life. Whatever you have going on today. Make it last and let’s stay in October as long as we can. Have a great 2nd Half Of October!

Sounds beautiful and delicious!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 37
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 14

Happy Overly October! Today folks we have 37 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 14 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Saturday and it will be the Home Stretch Till November. Yikes. I remember when we started December last year and our 11-month journey back to November. And here we are now from 11-months down to just 2 weeks left. Wow. For now, on Tuesdays we’ll keep it as Thanksgiving Pictures Day so if you have any to share today would be the idea day to do it. I may post a couple later today. I don’t mind Tuesday being just a regular day though here. But if we want to start up a new concept we can. Oh and if you have any ideas you’d like to see for the rest of this thread (and next year’s) just let me know. Now we are here in our Awesome Autumn. And I’m happy about it. We have a real chill moving in now but this is Autumn and it should get chilly just like it should warm up in spring. If you are a turkey fan just remember to keep up to date with the weather this month of October. You want to be prepared for the real November chill that is sure to hit us. It always seems like the first real chilly month is November, but this year October has had its fair share of chill. Keep all those Thanksgiving Thoughts in your head folks. Have a great Overly October!

We've got our first night below freezing on the calendar, and it rolls in tomorrow night or Friday. Before then I will need to take off the garden hose that is outside in the front of the house and insulate the little spigot like I do every winter.

To me it seems a tad bit early to already be having freezing weather, but I guess it's time.

Last year when I ran the half marathon on the first Saturday in November, it was below freezing when they shot off the cannon at 8 am, and that's just about three weeks from today.

One thing I have tried to do differently this year is have more wood pellets on hand than I have in the past. I have two full tons here right now, and I am going to get another half ton tomorrow night or Thursday night. My ultimate goal is to have purchased at least 3 tons by the end of November, and between that and having the oil tank for the big furnace, we basically would have pellet fuel until the end of March and oil for when we truly have brutal cold days.

Maybe we will actually have a Thanksgiving this year that is cold and not one of those awful days that it's 60 or 70 degrees!
