Football and Thanksgiving go together way back.

Another outbreak of avian flu in our state. Three commercial farms had to have all their birds destroyed. For once though the news report indicated they didn't think there would be a shortage, but there would be a price increase. What else is new? I have a boneless turkey in the freezer though, so if there is a problem, I can always use that.

The first thing I thought I would like to post is pictures of the Thanksgiving meal I bought last year. I went with the Ham Dinner, it came with sage dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, candied yams, cranberry relish, rolls, and an apple pie. I purchased three additional sides and chose macaroni and cheese, corn casserole, and I can't remember what is in the last container.

It looks totally yummy. I am wondering where you purchased it from.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 36
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 13

Happy October Mid-Week! Today folks we have 36 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 13 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be in 3 days when we reach the “Home Stretch” Till November on Saturday. It should be awesome. Speaking of awesome we are in our Awesome Autumn and have our weekly (awesome I hope) poll below. Here’s this Wednesday’s Weekly Poll!

Do you think Thanksgiving is underrated on MMC?

  • Yes – most people here talk about Christmas (and maybe Halloween 2nd).
  • Yes – but it should be underrated it’s not that great.
  • No – I think it’s treated fairly as an awesome day of the year by most on MMC.
  • No – I think it’s hyped up plenty on this site (maybe even too much)!
  • I’m going with C. I thought about A though. I do feel that we have a very strong “niche” group of Halloween Fanatics that almost overpowers Thanksgiving. But I know in this thread we give it plenty of hype. I mean the whole thread is about it! But I think overall it’s treated fairly and most realize how amazing it is. But Thanksgiving doesn’t have “The Season” Christmas has. What do you think? Have a great October Mid-Week!

I personally think "A" is the best choice for me. Halloween and obviously Christmas seem to get the most attention on MMC. But this thread goes a long way for us hardcore Thanksgiving enthusiasts. I can see where some would feel that Thanksgiving is under rated because The excitement of Fall arriving and knowing that Halloween is "up next" takes up a lot of brain space, and Thanksgiving sort of is "in the middle" as being the sort of bridge to Christmas time / Christmas season. Long ago I learned the importance of how much the "Big 3" go with each other. But I think a lot of people (not us on this site) sort of just gloss over Thanksgiving and view it as the torchbearer to Christmas.

Happy Wednesday!

I'm right there with you with C. I think it's treated fairly for being on a Christmas website. If this were a Thanksgiving website, then no, it's underrated.

But then again, what is Christmas without Thanksgiving? Not as grand.

I will also go with C. I think it gets its fair due with this being mainly a Christmas site.
I just think Thanksgiving is more about the day and less about the season like Halloween and Christmas are. Thanksgiving unfortunately/ or fortunately gets lumped in with the start of Christmas season too by many. Thanksgiving day I would guess would be higher than Halloween day for most and slightly lower to even with Christmas Day for many.

I think this site has a nice little corner in chit chat to celebrate many of the non Christmas Bers holidays/season.

I'm teetering between A and C. Maybe an A.5? I wouldn't say it's treated UNfairly, but I think it could use a little more appreciation and hype.

One thing is for sure: This thread has made me appreciate Thanksgiving so much more. There was a time when I never even would have considered Thanksgiving as my favorite day of the year, but my stance on that has changed considerably. Every year it steadily encroaches on Christmas Day by a slim margin.

It is one fantastic day!

Thanksgiving is awesome. I love the attention it gets on this thread. And I totally love Thanksgiving. A holiday where you eat amazing food, spend time with family and watch a parade and football (except I don't watch football much but that is beside the point) and be thankful deserves adoration. All of that said, with this amazing thread I would have to say C.

A local grocery chain called Sullivan's Foods. I have also purchased a holiday meal from HyVee a larger regional chain, I will check to see if I have any pictures from that year.

I am really tempted to do something like that. Most years I have between 15 and 20 people here for Thanksgiving, but this year a number of people who normally come are going to the other side of the family so there will only be between 7 and 9 of us.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 35
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 12

Happy Thrilling Thursday! Today folks we have 35 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 12 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the day after tomorrow when we reach the Home Stretch Till November. WOW. But right now folks I’m looking and seeing those counts looking really good. We continue in our Awesome Autumn. Thanks for those of you who answered our poll. But today is Thursday and our new thing that has caught on is “Thanksgiving Thought Thursday.” We’re going to continue it right through Thanksgiving and maybe beyond it seems like. This week’s thought is below!

I love having a plate full of Thanksgiving food. I notice some people like to take a little at a time. But something about having your plate full and if you can control yourself to eat slow makes you feel like Thanksgiving will last forever. That’s how I feel at least and that’s how I fill my Thanksgiving plate.

Feel free to comment on that and how you fill your plate. Are you a nibbler? Normally I am. I just like for the biggest meal of the year to have a full plate that I know will take me a long time to eat. Keep it real turkey fans with 5 weeks (that’s one full hand) to go until Thanksgiving. Have a great Thrilling Thursday!
