Last year at this time in the Thanksgiving thread we were comparing a Covid Thanksgiving with what we thought a Post-Covid Thanksgiving will be like. I hope we never have to go thru anything like that again.

My love for Thanksgiving started increasing when I started going to Thanksgiving dinner on my wife's side of the family. At first, I hated the huge get-togethers. As an introvert they exhausted the heck out of me. But slowly I grew to love them over the years.

I don't exactly remember when it finally hit me that Thanksgiving was actually one of the best days of the year, but the combination of the parade, traditions, football, family, and food just really all do it for me.

When I was a kid Thanksgiving was an afterthought and I found it so boring.

I really started appreciating Thanksgiving when I got married and had children. The final straw was when Thanksgiving with my wife's side of family became the regular event. I have a great relationship with my wife's side of the family. My BIL is one of my best friends. I get along with them better than my side of family. I am very greatful to have great inlaws. I know many who have the total opposite view point than me.

As a child I enjoyed Thanksgiving, playing with cousins, eating great food, but my real love of Thanksgiving came the first year Dave and I were away from all family. It was our 3rd Thanksgiving and I was bummed about not being around family. Then I realized there were all these soldiers who were completely alone for Thanksgiving. That put things in perspective, I had Dave and my daughter and a warm cozy home and all these other blessings. That year, we invited half a dozen guys from Dave's unit to share Thanksgiving with us. We did that every year after that where we weren't around family. It helped me continue counting my blessings.

I remember loving Thanksgiving as a kid. Mostly because it kicked off the Christmas season. But I also remember all the big get-togethers with family. I loved those so much. That's the really sad part about living 750 miles from my family. You can't attend every family function. I also remember watching the parade and eating all that delicious food. My love for Thanksgiving increased a lot 21 years ago when we moved to Georgia and it was just us and the kids. I started appreciating the holiday more and wanted to make sure my kids had memories of a tradition just like I did. They're all at that in between age now of being a kid and having a family. I just hope in a few years they'll start yearning for that tradition again as I did.
Yep, my Thanksgiving as a kid was a house packed with people and a 2nd Thanksgiving on Sunday. Then a few moved, most passed on and we were down to 3 of us with our families. Now we are back to a packed house again!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 6

Happy November Friday! Today folks we have 6 days remaining until Thanksgiving. Our next milestone will be our final stop on Thursday and our ultimate destination which will be THANKSGIVING. Do I need to say more? The next time it’s Thursday it’s Thanksgiving. How’s that? Less than a week away now. I hope you all enjoyed our final “Thanksgiving Thought Thursday” and we will indeed conclude it in this thread next week with a DOUBLE HEADER starting in this thread in the AM and concluding in this thread in the PM with our annual closing thoughts. The Awesome Autumn continues here but for how much longer? Until Thanksgiving Day when we transition into our “Happy Holidays”! That’s going to be a great time of year isn’t it? It’s the season we all love and that’s just another reason I love Thanksgiving so much for even when it ends look what it brings. Pure joy. Pure happiness. Christmas time. It’s an amazing time of the year. We move along here folks feeling good about ourselves and doing a lot of stuff this weekend hopefully to prepare for the big feast next week. If you aren’t ready you should get ready this weekend. I know that I will be. And thanks to all of you again for being here for the long ride this year. Next up is a big weekend ahead. The final one before Thanksgiving. Have a great November Friday!

I am so happy to be back, a few days away has felt like weeks. I am still not feeling well and am home from work today and have a doctor's appointment this afternoon but I am very grateful that I am fairly prepared and am so glad I ordered a Heat and Eat Thanksgiving Meal for next week. I am not sure if I am going to make my extended family's celebration on Sunday, it will depend on what the doctor says. All COVID tests have been negative but twice I have thought I was better and then I backslide. Today the high will be 24 with wind gusts up to 25 mph and snow flurries, I am glad to be home but am really looking forward to Tuesday and having a full 5 days to rest and relax. I hope you all enjoy your Friday. To echo @Edge612, thank you all for the last 51 weeks, Thanksgiving Week is looming large!

I hope you start feeling better soon. I would hate for you to feel this badly thru Thanksgiving.

Hope you get feeling better fast. Take plenty of time to rest. My daughter thought she had the worst cold ever but they told her she could still come in for chemo yesterday and when we got there the doctor said she was too sick to have chemo and sent us right to the emergency room. Her blood pressure was 73 over 58 so it really concerned the doctor. They gave her a ton of fluids and finally got her blood pressure up enough to send her home. The test they gave her showed she does have Covid. The poor kid. Glad I had my fourth shot.

Thanks Rich. I tested negative for Covid and Strep but the doctor did prescribe an antibiotic to clear up my left tonsil that is moving into my ear. Antibiotics can make me feel cruddy too but I am glad I went and I am hopeful that I will be better by Thursday!
