• Operation Christmas Cheer
More fun "facts" from last Thanksgiving. This time, cost by region.

This makes me feel better about buying a meal from a local supermarket. I did splurge for the extra 3 sides for 12 dollars and ended up spending 72.00 bucks, but it was worth it since I was under the weather for most of November.

So long, January! You felt like you were 7 or 8 weeks long, and time felt like it CRAWLED especially after I took my Christmas lights and decorations down. Time to daydream about Spring starting tomorrow and hope that our area is through the worst of the winter. I believe we will be!

Have a great day!
It definitely felt longer than The Bers months did!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 295
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 273
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 212

Happy February Arrives! Today folks we have 295 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 273 days left until November and 212 days to go until The Bers. Welcome to a new milestone folks! February has arrived and we have now completed 2 full months since the month of November. Our next milestone will be a big one. The 200-Day Marker Till The Bers. It will be in 12 days on the day before Valentine’s Day. Wow. I can’t believe that. I’m not ready for a 1’s count in this thread. No way. We move ahead into a new month of our Winter Wonderland with our Weekly Wednesday poll (that’s a lot of W’s)!

How would you compare the Superbowl with Thanksgiving?

  • Those 2 days have nothing in common.
  • Those 2 days are mirror images of each other.
  • Those 2 days are unique but have some common things about them.
  • Other opinion/explanation
  • I’m going with C. I think they are both unique and different but also they have some similarities like one of the biggest meals of the year, a fun celebration atmosphere and of course football is a big part of both days. I love both of them. What do you say? Keep it real turkey fans and answer our poll today. Have a great time today. Enjoy your middle of the week. Have a great February Arrives!

I go with C on this one! Both are unique holidays, but share some common traits like being a big "Food Day", and having family / friends over to share in it. But that's where the similarities end. Because no one (that I know of) is serving an actual turkey on Super bowl day. But like I said a few weeks back, I think that would be pretty awesome, to have a thanksgiving-style dinner on Super Bowl day. We won't be doing that this year, but maybe 2024 it actually happens?

Have a great day!

I'm going with A on this one also. We go to a super bowl party with a bunch of friends most years. But there's no prep, no parade, the kitchen doesn't smell like heaven, we have church in the morning, the house isn't decorated, people aren't in a festive mood, and I have to work the next day. Definitely A.

I go with A. It just can't even come close to Thanksgiving. They are just in two different places for me. But both have football so I can see a little comparisons.

Now in the sporting category the Super Bowl is King with game and atmosphere.

The best comparison in my personal situation to the Super Bowl would be March Maddness/Final Four.

I guess I am going to go with C, they are unique but football is a part of our Thanksgiving Day and is the reason for the Super Bowl and of course the food. Mostly, I feel like the Super Bowl is a mini-reason to make lots of food and indulge in a variety of treats.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 294
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 272
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 211

Happy Groundhog’s Day! Today folks we have 294 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 272 days to go until November and 211 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be the 200-Day Marker Till The Bers. That will be huge. We move ahead into the 2nd day of the 2nd month of our Winter Wonderland. We actually got some snow showers a couple of times this week. Now we look below for the highlight of our week which is “Thanksgiving Thought Thursday!”

I wonder sometimes why there aren’t more Thanksgiving cartoons/shows. The 2 I really love are Charlie Brown & Garfield. But really why do you see more Halloween and Christmas shows than Thanksgiving? I really don’t have an answer for it. But I’d like one if you have one.

Maybe there’s more decorations for Halloween/Christmas and more of a celebration by people for them? Maybe because those 2 days are more for kids than Thanksgiving is? I don’t know but that’s just a thought I had today and sometimes I get that in my head and wonder about it. No matter what your plans are today turkey fans I hope you stay warm and enjoy your Thursday as much as you possibly can. Have a great time today and remember it’s our favorite day of the week Thursday. Have a great Groundhog’s Day!

My guess is that Halloween and Christmas are more commercialized than Thanksgiving. That translates over into merchandise, shows, music, etc... I think about all of the shows I've watched over the years, and even picking something as simple as "South Park", there's lots of Halloween episodes and Christmas ones, but I can't think of any Thanksgiving ones that come to mind.

Happy Groundhog day, I hope the groundhog predicts early Spring!

I agree also.

I think Hallmark channel could add a few Thanksgiving themed movies within their Christmas ones. It would be easy and fit right into their normal format. They had a few many years ago but nothing recently

Happy Groundhog Day.

There is a dearth of Thanksgiving specials and movies. I think there are more grown up movies than family ones. I looked at a list of the "60 Best Thanksgiving Movies" and just two were what I would really consider Thanksgiving movies. I know it has been a few years but the movie "Turkey Hollow" is a family themed Thanksgiving movie. And there is "Love a the Thanksgiving Day Parade" and "The Thanksgiving House."

Searching for animated specials revealed this list:
