Happy Latter January! Today folks we have 301 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 279 days left until November and 218 days to go until The Bers. It’s Milestone Day folks as we have reached Tom Turkey Day #2! And guess what? Tomorrow we will see another milestone when we reach the 300-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. That will be the final time this thread sees a 3’s count…EVER. To celebrate that let’s look at today’s Thanksgiving Thought Thursday as we continue along in the January portion of our Winter Wonderland!
300 days from now will be Thanksgiving Eve and we will go through that amazing and insane special 48-hour period that all of us in this thread cherish. A lot of years ago I called Christmas Eve/Day the “Dynamic Duo” but what is Thanksgiving Eve/Day then? It’s about as dynamic as any duo there is. And the fact it is the “beginning” of the season as opposed to the “ending” I think it deserves a nickname. Any suggestions?
It’s all fun and games when you’re in the 300s in any count but once you cross that barrier you can never go back to it. May seem like a small barrier to some but here in this thread and on this site we know better. Enjoy your Thursday my turkey friends. I’ll keep you updated on my turkey dinner once we reach February. Happy first Tom Turkey Day of 2023!
For each Tom Turkey Day this year, I'm going to post about something I'm thankful for. I'll try to keep it specific to the month that we're celebrating, but occasionally I'll just post something I'm thankful for in general.
Today I'm thankful for our health. I always worry when my kids are sick, and my youngest daughter has been sick twice since Christmas with all the crud that has been going around. However, she has come out of it just fine both times, and somehow no one in our household has ever caught the dreaded "C-word" yet.
Being healthy and alive and being able to enjoy days like today is a blessing. Thank you, Lord.
Now...how to work turkey into the festivities today? Last night we made gumbo, and we're having leftovers for dinner, so if I'm going to have any turkey it'll have to be during lunch. I'm thinking a Jamaican jerk turkey sub from Firehouse Subs might just be the ticket.

I've had enough of these over the past few years to become somewhat of a "Popeye's turkey snob," and I can say with confidence that two hours in the oven at 375 (Popeye's directions) is way too long. It ends up drying out the breast too much. Of course, he did shove two in the oven at once, so maybe that negated things a bit. But what a missed opportunity to make a gravy with the pan drippings!
OMG! 10 pounds. That is hilarious.
Happy Tom Turkey Day! Tomorrow is a big milestone day in here and I don't want anyone to miss it. 300 days is huge and getting out of a 300's count, I'm not sure if anything feels better except for maybe "breaking the seal" on a 200's level count and entering the 100's. All in due time.
I'm going to try and watch some classic football tonight, and then watch "Attack of The Clones" as my Tom Turkey Day movie!

I agree and I feel the same way about the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Especially on Mondays when I see the weekly countdown I think about how that whole week makes me feel, but settling in on Thanksgiving Eve to watch the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special with a kitchen that is all ready to go for the next day and knowing the holidays have only just begun is a feeling that I can't compare to anything else.
Nothing is coming to me that encapsulates the wonder of Thanksgiving Eve/Day. Tom Turkey Day must be making me feel a bit forlorn because right now, in January, when I think of those two magical days, all I can think is "nothing gold can stay". We have many wordsmiths among us so I hope they can think of something a little less bittersweet.

Happy Final Friday Of January! Today folks we have 300 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 278 days left until November, and 217 days to go until The Bers. It’s a HUGE milestone today folks as you can clearly see and that is the 300-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. Just unreal isn’t it? The big day is here. And take a good look at that count folks because after today you will never ever see a countdown in this thread in the 3’s EVER again. Unreal. Awesome big milestone. Our next milestone will be the Arrival Of February on Wednesday. We continue along here in our Winter Wonderland still looking for a good snowstorm in our area. I still feel February will bring 1 (at least) but we’ll see. And for now I’m still not talking turkey. I told you the talk about it won’t begin until February and it might even take a little longer than that but I think I’m going to bring it up. Turkey is in the freezer. We mentioned a little Thanksgiving. But I am pretty sure it won’t be anytime soon as it won’t be until after the Superbowl. Another big feast to look forward to isn’t it? Now for all you turkey fans it’s Friday folks. It’s a day to relax in this thread. And we begin our weekly 3-day weekend that we love to have. We chill out here all weekend long and extend it for 3 long days. We need it after how busy we are all the time. That is the best way to go folks so let’s all enjoy our turkey friendship today on this Friday in this thread. Have a great Final Friday Of January!

Happy 300 Days to Thanksgiving! I am still getting excited seeing the talk about the "mini Thanksgiving" that Edge is going to do in February at some point. I really think it would be cool if we could all virtually have dinner along with him by doing our own little "mini Thanksgivings" and sharing pictures on here. Just a thought, he might not be into that.
