Thanks, buddy. I miss being here on a regular basis. I had planned to show up in time to post my "Dawn of the Day" memes for the 50 Day Preview, and I realized today that I missed the target. I'll make up for it whenever we move into the Fall Preseason.

Next week should be much better, though. This week, not only did we have the hurricane to contend with, but I also had to bring my wife back to the doctor, and she's having surgery next week on Tuesday. Our kids also did VBS at church this week (one as a volunteer and the other as an attendee), so life is definitely happening here in the Escalation household.
Prayers for you and your wife.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 141
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 114
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 53

Happy Double Digits July! Today folks we move along and see we have 141 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 114 days left until November, and 53 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be on Saturday when we welcome in the 50-Day Marker till The Bers and all the fun will begin in the Holiday Hang Out. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with a question as we are in the Dog Days of Summer. Let’s see today’s Weekly Wednesday Poll about weather!

With the Dog Days of Summer being here which of the below is worse than the dog days of summer’s heat/humidity?

  • The Winter Doldrums (Early January through Mid-February)
  • Spring/Autumn Weather
  • Nothing is worse than the Dog Days of Summer Weather
  • Everything is worse than the Dog Days of Summer Weather (I live for this)

  • I’m going with A. I’ll take this weather over the winter weather any time. But obviously I love spring/autumn weather a bit more than the summer heat/humidity when it gets to be too much which it seems to be trying to do this summer for some of us. Turkey fans enjoy your day. Have a great Double Digits July!

C...The heat and humidity have been brutal these past couple weeks. I am so over it! Looking forward to Fall and Winter!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 138
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 111
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 50

Happy July Teens! Today folks we move along and see we have 138 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 111 days left until November, and 50 days to go until The Bers. We have reached the 50-Day Marker till The Bers. If you don’t believe me check out Hang Out and see for yourself. Our next milestone will be the 100-Day Marker till November. It will be in 11 days. That’ll be something won’t it? We move along in our Summer Sweatfest in our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1. I know we had a busy week working and playing here in the Thanksgiving Thread with all great topics. But now it’s great to have some down time and quiet time too. Isn’t it? Turkey friends I hope you all are enjoying the start of your weekend. And I wish you all the best. I’m on vacation but you know this thread doesn’t take a vacation. I think I’d still post even if I was on Mars on vacation if the aliens got internet for me. Turkey friends enjoy it and stay cool in the heat. I hope the summer isn’t too bad for you and that you’re making the most of it and enjoying the little things about it. Turkey friends how are you? I hope your gobbling your way into your weekend and feeling fine. It’s good to walk like a turkey and talk like a turkey but don’t ever be a turkey. Have a great July Teens!

Happy Saturday! We are still crawling out of the heatwave. We're down to upper 80's now, but it looks like one day next week hits 100 degrees, then drops off a cliff again as we have only 80 degrees for Saturday and Sunday. We even see the beginning of the return to cool evenings / mornings next week as we get back down into the low 60's at night. It will be a welcome change and one of the reasons I love the latter parts of July because you can quite literally see and feel that transition into Autumn. Have a great day, friends!

50 Days until the Bers is here!!! Not quite time to start shopping for Thanksgiving but when we hit September 1st we will be under the 90 day mark and it will be time to at least start making my grocery list!!!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 137
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 110
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 49

Happy July Sunday! Today folks we move along and see that we have 137 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 110 days left until November, and 49 days to go until The Bers. We move along in the 2nd half of our Summer Sweatfest and boy has it been a sweaty one. Our next milestone will be the 100-Day Marker till November in 10 days. Friends I hope you are all doing well here in the heat of summer. It’s going to get hotter here again. When it “cools off” it’s still been very warm/humid. But it’s going to be much worse coming up the next several days. We are in our Quiet Weekend Period Part 2. And we are glad for it as we all need a rest on the weekend from the busy topics we have all week long. Turkey friends I wish you all a great Sunday with your family and/or friends today. No matter how you are spending it I hope you have a great time. It’s a great time to be in this thread and on this site. The Summer Sweatfest is an annual tradition and gives us a lot of great stuff including in the Holiday Hang Out the 50 Day Preview of The Bers which has begun this weekend. And we’ll be back with a full week of great topics in this thread friends. But I wish you all a great time today here on this Sunday. Have a great July Sunday!

Happy Sunday to all! The 2nd half of the SweatFest is here and it has sure lived up to its name this year. No joke. This is the hottest summer I can ever remember, but I'm only 39 years old. I was talking to my Dad yesterday, and he says it was this hot one time in the 70's. He said it basically didn't rain here for 3 months, and the grounds here got so dry that the yard cracked open. He said that was the worst one that he can ever remember. I honestly hope that we don't have another summer like this for a while. Rains are supposed to move back in this week and top us off again.

Have a great day!

My Thanksgiving gland must be active again. I keep wanting to turn on the parade and roast a turkey.

There was a summer here in the early 1990's where we had like 35-40 90+ degree days. I don't think we'll get THAT many this year but we may get 25-30 the way it's going!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 136
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 109
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 48

Happy Mid-July! Today folks we move along into a brand new week and see that we have 136 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 109 days left until November, and 48 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be when we reach the 100-Day Marker till November in 9 days. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest and it has more than lived up to it’s name this year so far. It’s Monday so let’s do our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week which now stands at 19 weeks. Into the teens we go and we can’t look back now only at the present day and week we are in. Turkey friends I hope your week gets off to a great start. And I hope all of you stay cool if you are in the middle of a heatwave like I am right now. It definitely has been a hot summer but like I say it will only make us enjoy autumn even more when it eventually arrives. It’s kind of like after a cold winter you really appreciate when spring arrives. Turkey friends I know you are all thinking of frozen turkeys in the freezer. Maybe with this weather you want to jump in the freezer with the turkey. That’s definitely an idea or maybe just stay in a pool if you can. Or run through a sprinkler? Or maybe have someone spray a hose on you. All good ways to stay cool. Have a great Mid-July!

Happy Monday! Today and tomorrow in all likelihood will be the hottest days of Summer 2024. It is predicted to hit 100 degrees tomorrow, which if it does, will be our first and hopefully only day this summer that hits 100 degrees. We historically start easing back into Fall temps usually the 3rd/4th week of July, August ends up being a very fine but still warm month, but by September we see the payoffs with the cool / borderline cold nights again. It's a process and one that we can't rush. But there's always a huge difference here between August temps and September temps. And right now any kind of relief, even if it's just a few degrees, will make a huge difference. Have a great day!
