This week has dragged on for me too. August is my worst month of the year. It is both Dave's birthday and our wedding anniversary, and it is extra hard not to let missing him take over my emotions.
I believe you. That has to be hard. You're in my heart and my prayers, my friend.

Thank you. I find great comfort in the quote from Russell M. Nelson: "Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of pure love." I also realize that if you get to spend most of your life with your great love, one of you is going to get left behind. Most of the time, I am grateful for getting go on the ride with him and I recognize how blessed I am. And I know he is waiting for me on the other side when my journey here is finished. And I also know he is strong and healthy and able to do all the things he could do before he got sick, so that is a blessing too. So most of the time, I choose not to mope, but August, August can be hard. And my advice is to continue to cherish Michelle.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 104
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 77
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 16

Happy Middle Day Of August! Today folks we have 104 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 77 days to go until November, and 16 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone being the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. It will arrive on Tuesday right on schedule. It’s Friday folks so below please see our Fun Fact Friday!

The largest turkey on record weighed 86 pounds (about the size of a 12-year-old).

Can you imagine a turkey that big? I can’t but somehow, they say it’s true. Is it really? Can you imagine eating all that turkey? Or how many people you’d need to eat it? You’d need a whole town, or some hungry guys like me and Rich to eat all of that. But talk about turkey overdosing. Anyway, turkey friends I hope you all have a great day today and that you all have a great start to your weekend later today. I wish you a good day and a fun weekend, but I hope you’ll check back in here to join us and have fun all weekend long in this thread. Always here to have fun as much as we can all year long. Have a great time and hope you enjoyed our Fun Fact Friday which is the newest feature in this thread. Have a great Middle Day Of August!

I think it was two years ago, that we had a 27 pound turkey for thanksgiving. That's not a misprint. It was the largest turkey I could find in the store, and it was the largest one we ever prepared. It was so big that it would barely fit in the roasting pot. This turkey couldn't even float in the brine, he was literally jammed in there like a sardine can. I worried that it would be *too* big to cook properly. But he cooked fine. That was the most leftovers we ever had, everyone was given bags of turkey meat to do whatever with. We haven't had a turkey that big since! Have a great Friday!

Is it just me, or has this week gone really slow? The Preview was flying by, but suddenly it felt like it got stuck. No complaints, just an observation.
It has been normal here. Not to fast, but not to slow.

On a similar note why does it feel like our November count has flown by. Time itself has not been either fast or a slow for me, but our November top 15 in the holiday thread was gone in a flash. The top 10 of October seemed to last much longer. Weird.

I can remember as a kid going to mya aunts for Thanksgiving dinner and my dad offered to get the turkey as we used to have a turkey farm near us that you order your turkey from for the holidays. The looks on my aunts face when we delivered it the night before was hysterical. It was also a 27 lb fresh turkey. Can I remember Thanksgiving morning my mom and aunt trying to get the turkey to fit in the roasting pan. My aunt has several choice words that morning LOL. I think they had to cut the wings off to it fit and it barely fit in the oven. That was over 35 years ago and my aunt and I still laugh about it to this day.

August is definitely a tough row for you to hoe, I am sending good vibes your way!

We had over 26 lbs one year probably close to the size of yours!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 103
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 76
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 15

Happy 2nd Half Of August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 103 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 76 days to go until November, and 15 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest less sweaty this week than last for sure. Our next milestone will be Tuesday my friends when we reach the magical 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. It’s going to be so amazing for sure. I can’t wait but I can wait because I need a weekend first and don’t want to think about that yet. Turkey friends I wish you all well today. We are into our Quiet Weekend Period now Part 1 my friends of 2. I hope you enjoy it no matter what your plans are for this weekend. You need to have fun and enjoy it. There is no other day to enjoy right now other than today so focus on it and make the most of it. And I hope your weekend will be as exciting as Thanksgiving Day. Ok maybe nothing can touch that excitement level, but I tried at least to convince you it could be. Turkey friends the best to you this weekend and I hope you stop by the site and this thread of course to check out the counts and post if you feel the desire to. And then we’ll move into a big brand-new week on Monday. Have a great 2nd Half Of August!
