DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 116
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 89
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 28

Happy August Sunday! Today folks we move along and see that we have 116 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 89 days left until November, and 28 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with Quiet Weekend Period Part 2 of 2 with our next milestone still being well over 2 weeks away. That’s ok. This is the time of year you want to slam the brakes so we go slowly into The Bers when they do eventually arrive. We’re having a birthday party for my uncle. Should be fun. Ordered food and a cake. And going over with a couple of friends of the family who are coming. Got a few gifts. A few games we’ll play and a bunch of laughs. Sounds like a good family Sunday to me. I wish all of you a great day today. Stay well in the 2nd half of this weekend and I wish you all the best today and hope you come back for the entire week ahead of great topics that we’ll have ready for you as always. Turkey friends time to get weekending. Don’t forget that it’s time to have fun on the weekend and enjoy what you have. Family, friends, pets, parties, social stuff or relaxation. Hopefully a combination of all of those things would be nice this weekend. Now on to the day Sunday. Have a great August Sunday!
Have a great family day today!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 115
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 88
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 27

Happy August Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 115 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 88 days to go until November, and 27 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone still being over 2 weeks away when we will reach the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Turkey friends you know it’s Monday so it means that it’s time for our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. What does that stand at right now? Why it stands at 16 weeks. I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for a big summer week here in this thread. We just kicked it off with our usual Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week on Monday. Tuesday will be our Picture Day followed by Wednesday and our Weekly Wednesday Poll. Thursday we’ll have our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday (thought provoking) and Friday we’ll have our Fun Fact Friday. Lots of fun stuff ahead this week and today is just the tip of it so we kicked it off in style. Turkey friends thanks for checking in here on this Monday and I hope you all have the best day possible. All the best to you and yours here as we begin a brand new week. Be thankful for all the things you have which is really the spirit of Thanksgiving. That’s the way to try to be all year long as much as possible. Have a great August Week!

4 weeks until The Bers and 7 weeks until Autumn. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it.

It's funny - we wish and wish all year for the holidays to get here, and then somewhere along the way realize - "Holy Crap - this stuff is coming Too soon!" It's fun and ironic how we repeat the cycle year after year. The Merry Wheel of Time.

16 weeks, soon Thanksgiving stuff will start popping up in the "real world". I love when I start seeing the seasonal displays at the grocery store! Back to School stuff will clear soon enough and then bring on the Halloween and Thanksgiving merch!

This will be an extra long autumn, in a way. Instead of 10 weeks from the week after Labor Day till the week before Thanksgiving we actually have 11. I'm hoping that makes a longer autumn!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 114
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 87
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 26

Happy Early August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 114 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 87 days to go until November, and 26 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest and I feel like we’re safe staying in it as long as we can. Our next milestone will still be 2 weeks away, which is the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. It’s Tuesday so time for Picture Tuesday so share all those photos you have of Fall/Thanksgiving for us so we can have fun looking at these pictures to help cool us off during a hot summer. Love picture day all year but in the summer it’s fun to get those images. I would often be outside in the summer and think about those cooler breezes of Autumn that are ahead of us. And they certainly are although this summer not many breezes to give us a taste of Autumn. But things are going to cool off here some cautiously we’ll see how comfortable it really gets (or will it be cooler but humid/rainy)? Turkey friends the best to you on this Tuesday. I hope your week got off to a great start on Monday and that it continues today on the 2nd day of the week. And I will check back in later today to help post some pictures as well. Always fun to do and look at. Have a great Early August!

I tried to post a picture of a Thanksgiving breakfast casserole today, but MMC wouldn't let me (it said the file was too large). So in lieu of a picture today, I'm sharing the recipe here instead. Enjoy:

Ingredients

2 pounds sage sausage
2 Granny Smith apples, diced
1 large yellow onion, diced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
12 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup half-and-half
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Salted butter, for greasing the lasagna pan
6 cinnamon raisin English muffins, cut into bite-size chunks
2 1/2 cups grated white Cheddar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  1. Set a large skillet over medium heat and add the sausage. Cook until browned and cooked through, 7 to 9 minutes. Remove the sausage with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel lined plate. Without cleaning the skillet, add the apples, onion and sage and cook until the onion has softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  2. Mix together the eggs, milk and half-and-half in a large pitcher or bowl. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  3. Grease a large casserole dish with some butter. Layer in half the English muffins, half the sausage, half the apple/onion mixture and half the cheese. Repeat with the other half of the same ingredients, ending with the cheese. Slowly pour the egg mixture all over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Remove the pan from the fridge 20 to 30 minutes before baking. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  5. Replace the plastic wrap on top of the casserole with aluminum foil. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, then remove the foil and continue to bake until the top is golden brown and slightly crisp, 10 to 15 minutes more.
  6. Sprinkle with the chopped parsley. Serve warm and enjoy.
