The only plans we have is that this Saturday we are having a family "paint night". We do this ever so often. We all have table top easels, canvasses, and a plethora of paint. We usually have a theme or everybody writes an idea on a slip of paper and we draw out of a hat. Out of excitement for the official beginning of Fall, our theme will be...you guessed it...Fall! I'm looking forward to it.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 69
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 42

Happy Sunny September! Today folks we move along into Friday and see that our counts show we have 69 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 42 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be Sunday friends when we welcome in autumn. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our Fun Fact Friday below!

The most expensive Thanksgiving dinner costs $181,000

Old Homestead Steakhouse in New York City offers the country’s most expensive Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people.

It includes:

  • Two 20-pound, free-range turkeys
  • Edible gold flakes
  • Imported saffron and other spices from the Middle East
  • Bread and pork stuffing made with sourdough bread from the UK, pork from Japan, and white truffles
  • Candied sweet potatoes cooked using cinnamon from Sri Lanka and Echire butter from France
  • Cranberry sauce concocted using strawberries from Japan, Mexico, and Canada and infused with a bottle of French wine
Now Rich, you think you can help us out with that bill? Moneybags . Turkey friends have a great time. Have a great Sunny September!

Look, I'm not going to fault anyone for having a lot of money, but a Thanksgiving dinner that costs almost as much as a house just seems like the antithesis of the true spirit of Thanksgiving.

Besides, except for the turkeys and the edible gold flakes, you can buy all of that other stuff at World Market! ;)

I would hate to foot that bill. No thanks! I like my simple turkey dinner most.

Happy Friday! We've never really looked at "The Bill" for Thanksgiving, and while I know that it is expensive, perhaps this year I will itemize everything and see what we total. I would be curious if I am average or above average in that regard.

Have a great day!

I’m doing the same thing this year.

I could put on a better spread and do it for MUCH less. Also, my turkeys would be pasture raised, not free range. Look up the difference. I bet I could do it for under $2,000 and that would include several gourmet desserts.

I keep an eye on the overall cost but do not always subtract for what doesn't get used for Thanksgiving Dinner, I do keep track of the tab though because I like to compare it to the "Heat and Eat" Meals that stores offer to compare it, especially on years when I am having a small group and might enjoy the convenience.

World Market is a fun place to look at foods from around the world. We have a place here called Pirate O's and if you want foreign foods and World Market doesn't have it, chances are Pirate O's will have it.

DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 41

Happy Summer Finale! Today folks we move along and see that we have 68 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 41 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be tomorrow when autumn officially arrives. Unreal our favorite season is about to begin friends. We move along in our Awesome Autumn (which we started the beginning of this month) in our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1 of 2 now. Is it going to be a quiet weekend? Well mostly we’ll have a mixture here. But doing some pre-autumn cleaning as in washing those hoodies and sweats for the coming season. It’s been bearable to keep the shorts going here in September which has been nice, but all good things must come to an end. We’ll get used to it though and then fall in love with autumn as we do every single year. Turkey friends I wish you all a great day today and hope that you are doing well. The best to you and your family/friends on this weekend. I hope you all enjoy the weekend and the turn to autumn. Tomorrow here we’ll celebrate it when it officially arrives. And then we’ll know we truly are in the best season of the year. Ironically, the autumn season includes the majority of the Christmas Season in it too. Pretty crazy to show you how long it stretches and overlaps all our 3 loves Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Have a great Summer Finale!

It totally feels unreal that today is the end of summer even though I have mentally been "over" Summer since around August 1st! I'm hoping to see some Thanksgiving stuff "in the wild" when I go out to do groceries later this morning after taking the trash to the dump! Have a great day!

Happy Autumn Arrives! Today folks we have 67 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 40 days to go until November. Our milestone has arrived folks as we have reached the Arrival of Autumn. Pretty incredible if you ask me. Turkey friends we move along in our Awesome Autumn in our Quiet Weekend Period Part 2 with our next milestone falling on Thursday which will be Tom Turkey Day #10. Double Digit turkey days? That’s incredible. It’s been mostly a quiet weekend and laid-back one here which I am grateful for. Definitely felt like I needed it this weekend. And this evening we go to our first (of 6) straight Sundays of Autumn events with our annual Halloween Lights. It’s great. It really puts you in the Halloween Season and I think it will be a lot of fun. We’ve never gone in September before but this year we have so many activities that we needed to put a couple of them into the 2nd half of September so the lights got bumped up because they start in September and go into November (it’s a lot of work to put everything up so it makes sense they maximize the time they get out of it). Turkey friends I hope you are all gobbling your way into autumn today on this Sunday as we officially arrive at it. It’s a great feeling. Have a great Autumn Arrives!
