President Calvin Coolidge was gifted a raccoon to eat for Thanksgiving dinner
Here’s a weird and funny Thanksgiving fact: In November 1926, Vinnie Joyce from Nitta Yuma, Mississippi, sent President Coolidge a live raccoon to serve for Thanksgiving dinner. But instead of putting it on the menu, Coolidge adopted the raccoon as a family pet and named it Rebecca! Not your typical Thanksgiving feast, right?
I’d like to have a good friendship with a raccoon. I’m not sure Damian would get along with him though. He’s kind of territorial. Turkey friends I hope you are enjoying your week. Happy Final Summer Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 68 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 42 days to go until November. Our next milestone will arrive on Thursday with Tom Turkey Day #10. That’s a big one for sure. We move along in our Awesome Autumn on this Saturday with the first half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I can’t believe it but it’s here my friends. Another glorious Bers Weekend. The final weekend of summer. Can you believe it? And we’re like seriously heading into autumn now. That is an unbelievable feeling, my friends. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your day. This weekend I have a mixture of fun, busy, errands and relaxation. Maybe a perfect type of weekend for this time of year or any time of year to be honest. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well and enjoying your weekend. Are you ready to make the official turn to autumn? I am. But I do hope I can keep my shorts out a little longer. It looks like a nice (comfortable) weekend here with below average temperatures and then we warm it up again next week. I’m good with this pattern, lasting a while into the early autumn period. The Approach is coming!
Here in a few more hours, the books will close on the very final Saturday in Summer 2025. I got a lot done today, gave my sanded truck one more washing, tomorrow it will go inside the garage for me to begin the process of taping / masking it up, I'll wipe down the exterior with mineral spirits, and then it will be ready for paint. I'm hoping that will happen over the next two weeks but I need a clear day to paint it outside like a proper redneck lol. It's calling for a LOT of rain over the next 10 days.

Happy Summer Finale! Today folks we move along and see that we have 67 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 41 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone set to arrive on Thursday. It is Tom Turkey Day #10. Double Digit Turkey Days. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope your weekend started off good on Saturday and that it continues to get better here today on Sunday. We are going to our 6th Annual Halloween Lights show this evening with the Sunday Group after a late afternoon early dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. It should be a fun day and really it is getting real now. With tomorrow being the official kickoff of autumn and today the Halloween Lights show starting our Fall Activities it just is an amazing feeling to be where we are on the calendar. Kind of wish we could freeze time right now. Remember Mr. Freeze? I love that character. I used to like the catchy tune he sang in The Year Without A Santa Claus. Turkey friends we are talking Halloween and Christmas, but we focus on Thanksgiving in this thread. I wish you all the best here this Sunday. Enjoy your day my friends no matter what your plans are. I saw the numbers in the counts this morning and panicked, originally because I thought there were only 41 days till Thanksgiving before I realized that was the countdown to November. Still, 67 days is not a long time at all. I have to keep reminding myself that we're still in the "sweet spot" right now and September's not over yet!
EMBRACE IT!!!! I can't freaking wait!

It's still near 80 here every day. TBH, I am so sick of Summer. SOOOOO ready for cooler weather! I can almost smell the turkey now........mmmmm!
